theirnature
aresubjecttodeteriorationorconsumptionin
normalservice,
andwhichmustbecleaned,repaired,or
replacedonaroutine

Thepumpunitishousedinaredplasticcase.AGX‐7typemale
quickconnectfittingislocatedononeendofthepumpunit.
Thisistheinletfittingtothepumpunit.TheGX‐7quickconnect
isinstalledinaremovableclearplasticfilterholder.Acotton
dustfilterisinsidethefilterholder.Thefilterholdermaybe
removedbyturningitcounterclockwiseandpullingitaway
fromthepumpunit.Twoflatmembranediskhydrophobic
filtersandawiremeshdiskarelocatedinthepumpunitonthe
filterholderend.
Thebatterycompartmentislocatedontheotherendofthe
pumpunit.OneAAalkalinebatteryisinstalledinthebattery
compartmentandheldinplacebyablackplasticbatterycap.
Thebatterycapmayberemovedforaccesstothebatteryby
pushingitdown,turningit1/4turncounterclockwise,and
pullingitawayfromthepumpunit.
Theexhaustfittingislocatedunderthebatterycaptab.
APOWERbutton,apowerindicationLED,andalowflowLED
arelocatedalongthemiddlefrontofthepumpunit.Thepower
LEDisonwhenthepumpunitison.ThelowflowLEDflashes
whenthepumpisexperiencingalowflowcondition.
Aninstrumentreleaseindicatorandaninstrumentlock
indicatorarelocatedonthefrontleftofthepumpunit.The
indicatortabonthebatterycapindicatesthecurrentpositionof
thebatterycap.
Insidethepumpunitcasearethecircuitboardanddiaphragm
pump.Therearenouserserviceablecomponentsinsidethe
pumpunitcaseexceptforthebatteryaccessiblethroughthe
batterycapandthewiremeshandhydrophobicdiskfilters
accessiblethroughthefilterholder.
Thepumpunitisconfiguredtomatewiththesensorfaceofthe
GX‐2009.RetainingtabsonthetopoftheRP‐2009snapontothe
sensorfaceoftheGX‐2009.TheGX‐2009mustbeinstalledsothe
frontoftheinstrumentisfacingthefrontoftheRP‐2009.When
installed,theRP‐2009sealstotheGX‐2009’ssensorfacewitha

gasket.

Aconeshaped4inchlongrubbersamplenippleisincluded
withtheRP‐2009andisnormallyinstalledontheinletfittingby
pushingthelargerendoverit.Thesmallerendcanbeinserted
inaholeorsomeotheraccesstoanenclosedareatosamplethe
environment.
Optional Hose & Probe
Whendesired,therubbersamplenipplemayberemovedanda
samplehoseandprobewithGX‐7fittings(optionalaccessories)
maybeconnectedtotheinletfitting.Samplehoselengthsare
availablefrom10feetto30feet(seePartsListattheendofthe
manual).
CAUTION:Samplehoselengthsofmorethan30feetarenot
recommendedfortheRP‐2009becauseofflowrate
reduction.

Do not install the GX-2009 onto the RP-2009 without rotating the battery cap to
“RELEASE”. Installing the GX-2009 onto the RP-2009 with the battery cap in
the “LOCK” position may result in damage to the RP-2009.

CAUTION:IftheRP‐2009isnotfullyengaged,theunitwillnot
respondtothetargetgasesproperly.

LEDstartsflashingandthepumpstopsoperating.Checkthe
rubbersamplenippleandfilterstomakesuretheyareclear.Ifa
hoseandprobeareused,checkthemforkinksorobstructions.
Toresetthelowflowcondition,pressandreleasethePOWER
button.Ifthelowflowconditionpersists,thepumpmayneed
servicing.

Replacing The Battery
1.
Locatetheblackplasticbatterycapononeendofthepump
unit.
2.
Pushdownandrotatebatterycapcounterclockwiseuntilit
stops,1/4ofaturn.
3.
Pullthebatterycapawayfromthepumpunit.
4.
Removetheoldbatteryfromthepumpunit.Itwillslideright
out.
5.
Insertthenewbattery+endfirstintothepumpunit.Usean
AAalkaline.Thebatteryorientationisshownonthebottom
ofthepumpunit.
6.
Slidethebatterycapoverthebatteryontothepumpunit,
pushitdownandturnitclockwiseunitisstopsbeneaththe
instrumentreleasetab.
Replacing the Cotton Dust Filter
1.
Locatetheclearplasticfilterholderatoneendofthepump
unit.
2.
Grasptheridgedsidesofthefilterholderandturnit1/4ofa
turncounterclockwise.
3.
Pullthefilterholderawayfromthepumpunit.
4.
Removetheoldcottondustfilterfromthefilterholderand
replaceitwithanewcottondustfilter.
5.
Reinstallthefilterholder.Alignthetwotabsonthebottomof
thefilterholderwiththetwoslotsinthepumpunit.Pushthe
filterholderintothepumpunitandturnit1/4turn
clockwiseuntilitsnapsintoplace.
