perform such operations.
Check whether there are hidden risks in the work area, for example, check whether the device is grounded, whether the
grounding is reliable, and whether the ground is wet.
Learn about the position of the indoor emergency power switch before installation. Cut off power in case of accidents.
Check the device carefully for confirmation when the power supply needs to be disconnected.
Do not put the device in a wet place. Keep the device away from liquid.
Improper or incorrect electric operations may cause a fire, electric shock, and other accidents, and lead to severe
and fatal personal injuries and device damage.

Ruijie Cloud Class RCD6000E V3 (V1.XX) Series Server User Manual
Direct or indirect contact with high voltage or mains power supply via wet objects may cause fatal dangers.
2.1.4 Static Electricity Safety
To prevent damage caused by static electricity, pay attention to the following points:
Properly ground the device and cabinet.
Keep the indoor installation environment clean and free of dust.
Keep proper humidity conditions.
2.2 Installation Environment Requirements
The RCD server must be installed indoors. To ensure normal running of the RCD server and prolong the service life, the
installation site should meet the following requirements:
2.2.1 Bearing Requirements
Evaluate the ground bearing requirements based on the actual weight of the RCD server and its accessories (for
example, cabinet, chassis, and power modules), and ensure that the ground of the installation site meets the
requirements.
2.2.2 Space Requirements
To ensure sufficient space for chassis movement as well as module insertion/removal and maintenance, it is
recommended that the width of corridors in the equipment room be no less than 0.8 m.
Do not install the RCD server against walls for ease of heat dissipation and maintenance. Reserve certain space (no
less than 0.4 m) on the left and right panels before and after installation, to facilitate heat dissipation.
2.2.3 Temperature/Humidity Requirements
To ensure normal running of the RCD server and prolong its service life, it is necessary to maintain proper temperatures
and humidity in the equipment room. If the humidity of the equipment room is too high for a long time, the insulation
performance of insulation materials may deteriorate and mechanical performance degradation such as electric shocks
may be incurred. If the humidity is too low, the insulation pad may shrink and cause loosening screws. Moreover, static
electricity is prone to occur in dry environments and endanger the internal circuits of the RCD server. Overhigh
temperatures can accelerate the aging of insulation materials, greatly reducing the reliability of the RCD server and
severely affecting its service life.
The requirements of Ruijie RCD servers for the temperature and humidity are as follows:
Temperature: 5°C to 35°C
Relative humidity: 20% to 80%
The temperature and humidity of the operating environment of the device are measured at 1.5 m above the
ground and 0.4 m in front of the RCD server rack when no protection plate is used in front of and behind the RCD
server rack.

Ruijie Cloud Class RCD6000E V3 (V1.XX) Series Server User Manual
2.2.4 Cleanliness Requirements
Dust is hazardous to device running. Dust accumulated on the device will cause electrostatic adsorption and result in
poor contact at metal contacts. Especially, when the indoor relative humidity is low, accumulated dust is more apt to
cause electrostatic adsorption, which will not only shorten the service life but also cause communication failures. The
table below lists the requirements for the content and diameter of dust particles in the equipment room.
Dust
Content (Unit: Particle/m³)
Dust particle (diameter ≥ 0.5 µm)
≤ 3.5 x 10^6
Dust particle (diameter ≥ 5 µm)
≤ 3.5 x 10^4
Apart from dust, salt, acid, and sulphide in the air are strictly limited in the equipment room. These harmful substances
will accelerate metal corrosion and component aging. Therefore, the equipment room should be properly protected
against the intrusion of harmful gases, such as sulfur dioxide, hydrogen sulfide, nitrogen dioxide, and chlorine gas. The
table below lists limit values for harmful gases.
Gas
Average Value (mg/m3)
Maximum Value (mg/m3)
Sulfur dioxide

0.3
The average value refers to the average value in a week. The maximum value refers to the maximum value in a
week. The device cannot stay in an extreme hazardous gas environment for more than 30 minutes.
2.2.5 Grounding Requirements
A proper grounding system is the basis for stable and reliable running and is indispensable for preventing lightning
strikes and interference. Carefully check the grounding conditions at the installation site according to the grounding
specifications, and complete grounding properly based on the actual situation.
Safety Grounding
It is necessary to ensure that the cabinet and power distribution device are securely grounded when the device uses the
AC power supply. Otherwise, electric shock may be aroused when the insulation resistance between the power supply
inside the device and the device housing becomes small.
Protection grounding connections should be provided in buildings so that the device can be connected to the
protection ground.
Lightning Grounding
The lightning protection system of facilities is standalone, and is composed of a lightning rod, a lower conductor, and a
connector connected to the grounding system. The grounding system is usually used for power reference grounding and
safety grounding of the cabinet. Lightning discharge grounding is required only for facilities and is not required for the device.
Electromagnetic Compatibility Grounding
Grounding required for electromagnetic compatibility includes shielded grounding, filter grounding, noise and
interference suppression, and level reference, which contribute to the overall grounding requirements. The grounding

Ruijie Cloud Class RCD6000E V3 (V1.XX) Series Server User Manual
resistance is required to be smaller than 1 ohm and the ground terminals of the cabinet should be grounded before
device running.
2.2.6 Anti-interference Requirements
Anti-interference herein refers to resistance against electromagnetic and current interference. The anti-interference
requirements are as follows:
Take effective power grid interference prevention measures for the power supply system.
Keep the RCD server away from the grounding device or lightning grounding device of the power equipment to prevent
strong interference.
Keep the RCD server far away high-frequency heavy-current devices such as high-power radio transmitting station and
radar launcher.
Take electromagnetic shielding measures when necessary.
2.2.7 Lightning Protection Requirements
Ruijie RCD servers can guard against lightning strikes. As electric devices, too strong lightning strikes may still damage
the devices. Therefore, it is necessary to take lightning protection measures.
Ensure that the ground cable of the cabinet is in good contact with the ground.
Ensure that the neutral point of the AC power socket is in good contact with the ground.
It is recommended to install a power lightning arrester in front of the power input end to enhance the lightning
prevention for the power supply.
2.2.8 Installation Unit
Ensure that the following conditions are met regardless of whether the RCD server is installed inside a cabinet or
directly placed on a workbench:
Sufficient space is reserved at the air inlet and air vents of the RCD server, to facilitate heat dissipation of the RCD
server chassis.
Ruijie RCD server is equipped with fans. Its heat dissipation principle is as follows: Cold air around the housing is
sucked into the device via air vents and hot air is exhausted from the rear side of the housing via the fans. Therefore, at
least 15 cm space needs to be reserved around the air vents, for ease of heat dissipation. It is recommended to install
the RCD server inside a 19-inch standard cabinet. The RCD server can be horizontally placed on a clean plane if
conditions are limited. It is recommended to install air conditioners in hot areas.
The ventilation and heat dissipation of the cabinet and workbench are satisfactory.
The cabinet and workbench are strong enough to support the weight of the RCD server and its accessories.
The cabinet and workbench are properly grounded.
2.3 Cabinet Installation Requirements
If the RCD server is to be installed inside a cabinet, check that the cabinet meets the following conditions:
1. A 4-column 19-inch standard cabinet is used.

Ruijie Cloud Class RCD6000E V3 (V1.XX) Series Server User Manual
2. The distance between square hole strips on the left and right sides of the 19-inch standard cabinet is 465 mm.
