IMPORTANT!

These instructions are provided to avoid problems that may occur from
improper assembly or installation.
ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS
Safespace Position
If possible, move and position the Safespace into the location where it is to be
situated in the room i.e. door to door, window to window.

Insert the Foam Floor
Roll out the PVC fabric and position it with the floor facing up and mesh side facing
down.
Fully open the floor zip on the PVC
fabric.
Place the floor foam on top of the PVC
fabric and aline the marked *with the *on
the inside of the PVC cover. This is to
ensure that the foam fits snug into the
corners.
Insert each corner of the floor foam into the PVC fabric.
Once fully fitted, begin to close the zip leaving a 30cm gap. Push the air out of the
fabric to make it smooth and even.
Then fully zip up and push the zip puller inside the fabric to conceal it.

Turn the Safespace over
Once the floor is fully zipped up, turn the Safespace over so the mesh side is now
facing up.

Insert the Horizontal Bars
Identify the 4x horizontal bars (Long) and 4x horizontal bars (Short). The long
bars will be for the longer length sides and the shorter bars for the shorter length
sides of the Safespace. Please Note: The bars will be the same length if the
Safespace was square.
Position the top and bottom bars on each side of the Safespace, alongside the pole
pockets. The poles will be colour coordinated to indicate which pole pocket they
will be placed in. Please Note: If the Safespace is one colour, all poles will be the
same colour.
The seam on the coloured tape should face downwards (bottom pole) or upwards
(top pole).
Insert the bars into the pole pockets making sure that the seam isn’t on show.
Position the holes so that they are facing away from the Safespace.

Insert the top corner mounting brackets
Identify the top corner mounting brackets and align the holes on the horizontal
bars with the holes in the bracket, making sure the bracket is facing the correct way.
Fit the bracket using an M8 45mm hex head bolt through the holes from the front
of the horizontal bar.
Attach a M8 washer and M8 nyloc nut to the threaded end of the bolt on the inside
of the bar.
Repeat for all corners.
Use the spanner to help align the bar with the bracket and then tighten all the nuts
with a drill nut driver and then finally tighten with a 13 mm hand spanner.

Insert the Vertical Bars - This step requires 2 people
Working in a pair, lift the Safespace up so that the
threaded bar on the top corner brackets is easily
accessible. (As demonstrated in the photo).
Once the threaded bar is accessible, place an M20
washer onto the threaded bar so it is in between the
vertical bar and the M20 nut (This will be attached to
the threaded bar at pre-assembly).
Once the M20 washer is on, connect the vertical bar to
the threaded bar.
Rest these two poles at an angle (Shown in the Photo)
so it is resting on the floor mounting brackets and then repeat on the other side of
the Safespace.
The Safespace is now on all four vertical uprights.

Attach the Floor Mounting Brackets
Align the holes on the horizontal bars with the holes in the floor mounting
brackets then fit the bracket using an M8 45mm hex head bolt through the holes
from the front of the horizontal bar.
Then attach an M8 washer and M8 nyloc nut to the threaded end of the bolt on the
back of the Safespace bar.
Repeat the same for all four corner brackets

Securing to floor
Floor Brackets
The Safespace can be screwed to the floor with the four-floor brackets.
Velcro
The Safespace can be velcroed to the floor using velcro straps.

Tension the PVC
Feel the ‘slack’ in the PVC at one of the corners.
Lift the top corner mounting bracket up and tighten the nut on the threaded bar
downwards to create tension. Tighten the nut to a distance of 80-90mm away from
the bracket.

Tighten all the nuts with a power drill and then tighten with a 13mm spanner.
Repeat on all 4 corners.

Insert the Corner Foam Pads
Insert the corner foam padsinside the PVC pockets on
the inside of the PVC fabric.
Repeat on all 4 corners.

Attach the vertical bars
Make sure all the zips of the doors and windows of the Safespace are closed.
Then begin to wrap the velcro straps around the vertical bars, at first with only a
small amount of tension. Thread the back of the velcro around the pole, thread it
through the buckle. Then fold it back on itself to hold and tension the straps more
firmly.

The door and window zips need to open and close freely with no ‘straining’. Check
this, and if there is straining loosen the tension off slightly till the zips run freely.

Zip up the Corner Pockets
Once you are satisfied with the tension and the positioning of the safespace is
correct, zip up all the corner pockets.

Mattress - Only applicable if Safespace has a mattress
Place the mattress into the Safespace, the position of the mattress will be shown
on the plan.
Your Safespace is now ready to use!
