UNPACKING AND CHECKING
Pleasetakethetransceiverfromthepackagecarefully.Wesuggest
thatyoushouldcheckthefollowingaccessoriesbeforethrowingawaythe
package.Ifanyitemsislostordamagedwhentransportation,pleasesubmit

PREPARATION
CHARGING THE BATTERY PACK
Thebatterypackisnotchargedatthefactory.Pleasechargeitbeforeusing.
Afterpurchasingorlongtimestorage(morethantwomonths),thebattery
can not reach its normal capacity when charge at the rst time. After
charging2-3timesthenthecapacityreachthenormalone.
CAUTION
• Donotrechargethebatterypackifitisalreadyfullycharged.
Otherwise,thebatterylifewillbeshortenordamaged.
• Afterrechargingthebatterypack,disconnectitfromthechar-
ger.Chargingthebatterypackmorethan5daysmayreduce
thebatterypacklifeduetoovercharging
NOTE:
• Theambienttemperatureshouldbebetween42and104°F(5to
40°C)whilechargingisinprogress.Chargingoutsidethisrangemay
notfullychargethebattery.
• AlwaysswitchOFFthetransceiverequippedwithabatterypack
beforecharging.Usingthetransceiverwhilechargingwillinterfere
withcorrectcharging.
• Evenaftercompletelycorrectcharge,theusingtimestillnot
increases,thenthebatterylifeisover,pleasereplacethebattery.

PlugtheChargerpowercableintoan
ACoutlet.
Insertthebatterypackortransceiverwitha
batterypackintothecharger.
• Makesurethebatterypackcontactwith
thechargingterminalscorrectly.
• ThechargerLEDlightsonandcharging
begins.
• Afterchargingtheassortedbatterypackfor4~8hours,takethe
batteryorthetransceiverwithbatteryfromthecharger.
• Thechargecompleteswhencharginglightturnsgreen.
• UnplugtheACadaptorfromtheACoutlet

Installing/Removing the Battery Pack
Theaverageusingtimeofthesuppliedbatterypackis8hours.Average
timesiscalculatedbyusing5%transmittime,5%receivetime,and90%
standbytime.
• Donotmakethebatteryterminalsshortcircuitordisposethe
batteryintore.
• Donottrytoremovetheshellfromthebatterypack.

Installing the Antenna
Hold the antenna base and screw the antenna
clockwiseintotheantennaconnectoratthetopofthe
transceiver,untiltighten.
NOTES:
• In PMR version the antenna is xed, ie it can not be
removed from the device.
• Don’t hang keys, speaker or microphone on the antenna.
Otherwisetheantennawillbedamagedorperformanceof
theradiowillbedegraded.
Installing the Belt Clip
Ifnecessary,canusetwo3x8mmscrewsinthe
packagetoxthebeltclip.
NOTES:
• Ifnotinstallthebeltclip,itsinstallationlocationwill
gethotinthehotenvironmentorinthecontinuous
communication.
• Youmustremovethebeltclipbeforeremovingthebattery
pack.
Installing the Optional Speaker/
Microphone
Outwardapartthemoisture-proofrubberofthe
headphonemouth,Insertthespeaker/microphoneplugs
intothespeaker/micro-phonejacks.
NOTAS:
• The transceiver is not fully waterproof while using the
speaker/microphone.
• TheconnectioniscompatiblewithKenwood(3.5/2.5mm,
stereo / stereo) which can also be used as data transfer
cable.

Toturntheradioon,turn theOn /Oswitch(7)clockwisebeyondthe
barrier.Abeeptoneisemittedifthebeeptonefunctionisactivated.There
are5dierenttonesavailable.
Toturnotheradio,pleaseturntheOn/Oswitch(7)counterclockwise
beyondthebarrier.
Volume control
To change the volumeleveluse the combined On/O-Volumekey(7).
ThedisplaywillshowthesymbolVOLandthevolumelevel(00-10).
Channel Selection
For channel selection, use the rotary channel selector (6) switch.The
channelsareselectedin theprogrammedorder.Thedisplaywillshow
thesymbolCHandtheactualchannelnumber.
Transmision
FortransmissionholdthePTTkey(8)untiltheendofthemessage.
Forbestsoundquality,talkintothemicrophone(4)withanormalvoice
atadistanceofapproximatly10cm.
DuringtransmissionthecontrolLED(2)lightsup:
Red=HighTXpower
Magenta=LowTXpower
UponreleaseofthePTTkey(8)theradioreturnsautomaticallyinto
receptionmode.
Reception
Uponreceptionofasignal,theLED(2)isblue.
If the selected frequency is decoded with a CTCSS- / DCS-code, all
signalsthatareencodedwithadierentcodewillbemuted.Theblue
LEDwilllightbutnosignalwillbeaudible.

GENERAL FUNCTIONS

Time-out-timer (TOT)
FortheversionsPMR,theTOTtimehastoactivated,amax.of180s
ispermitted.Bydefault,theTOTtimeissetto180seconds.
ForthecommercialradioversionsUHFandVHF,theTOTfunctioncan
bedeactivatedorsetinarangebetween30-600seconds.
Apre-alertisavailableandcanbesetupto10sbeforeexpirationofthe
TOTtime.
Voice annunciation
Withactivatedvoiceannunciation,mostofthesettings,e.g.on/o,
channelselection,tx-powerswitch,etc.areannouncedinenglish.
Power on tone
Thereare5dierentpower-ontonesavailable.Thisfeaturecanbe
deactivated.
Squelch
Thesquelchcanbesetinarangebetween0-9.
(0=squelchdeactivated;9=lowestsensitivity,i.e.thesignalhastobevery
strongtoopenthesquelch).

LED Hidden Display
Theradiohasahiddendisplaylocatedonthefrontoftheradiobelowthe
speaker.Therearedierentsettingsfortheactivestatus.
• OFF:thedisplayisdeactivatedduringtransmissionandactive
duringstandbyandduringsignalreception.
• ON:thedisplayisalwaysactivated(withthissettingthepower
consumptionisveryhigh,thebatteryneedstoberechargedmore
frequently)
• Auto2-25:afterachannelswitchortheendofatransmissionor
receptionperiod,thedisplayisstillactivefortheselectedtime
period(inseconds).
VOX
ToaccesstheVOXfunction,oneofthefunctionkeyshastobeassigned
toVOX.Thesensitivitylevels1-10oftheVOXfunctioncanbeindiviually
adjustedbysoftware.
Warning Tone
Forsome setting changes (see multifunctionkey assignment),awarn
tone is available. By default, it is activated but can be deactivated by
software.
Power Save
This transceiver is equipped with a battery saving function to reduce
power consumption in standby mode.When the battery level is low it
canbeannouncedbyawarningtone,avoiceindicationand/oraLED
signal.Youcanalsosetanautomaticshutdown(APO).
Channel scan
The settings for the scan function include the dwell time (for the TO
mode),thedelaytime(afterendofsignal),themodeselectionTO(time
operated)/CO(signaloperated)/SE(endofscanafterasignalhasbeen
detected),thealarmtonesforthebeginningandtheendofscanning,as
wellastheLEDlightfortheactivestate.

Multifunction Key Assignment

Alarm function
An individual setup of the alarm function is possible with the many
settings of the alarm function. E.g. it is possible to dene an alarm
channel,whichisautomaticallysetoncethealarmfunctionisactivated.
Furtheritcanbedecidedifthealarmisaudiblelocal,i.e.onlyattheown
radio,orremote,i.e.allradiosthatusethesamechannel.
It is also possible to set the number of cycles of transmission and
receptionperiods.
FM Radio
FortheFMradiooperation,assignittoalong-statekey.Holdingthekey,
willstart/stoptheFMradiofunction.ToscanthenextavailableFMradio
frequency,pressthekeyshortly.Thescanfunctionstopsautomatically
onceachannelhasbeendetected.
Priority Channel 1/2
Bypushingtheassignedmultifunctionkey(FIRCH/SECCH),theradio
switchestotheprogrammedprioritychannel.

CHANNEL SETTINGS
Thefollowingoptionscanbeconguredtoeachchannelusingsoftware.
RX Freq / TX Freq
The radio has 199 programmable channels. The PMR version is
exclusively programmable with the 16 PMR frequencies (446 MHz).
The commercial versions UHF and VHF can be programmed in
the designated frequency band according to the individual licence.
For repeater operation, TX- and RX-frequencies are programmable
independently.
QT/DQT Dec - QT/DQT Enc
SomechannelsmayhavepresetQT/DQTtones.AQT/DQTtoneisa
subaudibletonewhichallowsyoutoignore(nothear)callsfromother
partieswhoareusingthesamechannel.
Whenyoureceiveasignalthathasatonedierentfromtheonesetup
inyoutransceiver,youwillnothearthesignal.Likewise,signalsthat
youtransmitwillonlybeheardbypartieswhoseQT/DQTtonematches
thetonesetupinyourtransceiver.
NOTA:AlthoughusingchannelssetupwithQT/DQTtonesrelievesyoufrom
listeningtounwantedcalls,itdoesnotmeanyourcallswillbeprivate.
TX-Power Selectio
InthePMRversion,thehighpower(HIGH)is500mW.Forcommercial
versionsofVHFandUHF,thehighandlowsettingscanbe
programmedaccordingtothevaluesassignedinthelicense.
Bandwidth (W/N)
InPMRversionthebandwidthissetat12.5kHz(N)accordingto
governmentregulations.Forcommercialversionsthebandwidthcanbe
N(12.5kHz)andW(25kHz)

Scan (Scan Add/Del)
You can add (add) or remove (del) the channel from the scan list
throughthesoftware.
Busy channel lock (BCL)
Using this function, the transmission is blocked if there is a signal
presentontheselectedchannel.
VOX
With VOX function it will activate the transmission with the voice
withouthavingto press PTT.The sensitivity of theVOX denes the
thresholdofthevoiceintensitytostartthetransmissionautomatically.
Inlevel1,thevoicesignal mustbeverystrongto activatetheVOX
function.Atlevel9theVOXfunctionismoresensitiveandtherefore
a lower voice level will be activated. Each VOX level (1-9) can be
adjustedusingsoftware.
TX Allow
Itispossibletoactivate/deactivatethetransmissionforeach
channel.
PTT-ID (BOT/EOT/Both)
ThetransceivercantransmitaDTMFcodeviaPTT-ID.The
transmissionofthecodeistriggeredbythePTTkey.Eachpressof
thePTTkeytransmitsthecode.
BOT:ThesignalistransmittedbypressingthePTTkey.
EOT:ThesignalistransmittedwhenthePTTkeyisreleased.
BOTH:Thesignalistransmittedbypressingandreleasingthe
PTTkey
Opt
TheradiooersDTMFasanoptionalcallingsignal.Eachchannel
hastobeactivatedforthisfeature.
FortransmissionofaDTMFcode,amultifunctionkeyhastobe
assignedtothesettingDIAL.AprogrammedDTMFcodeisthen
selectedfortheindividualchannel.

IfDTMFisused,oneofthemax.16programmableDTMFcodeshastobe
assigned.
SP Unmute
Thissettingdetermineswhenthesquelchwillopen,i.e.whenthespeaker
willunmute.Thereare4settingsavailable.
WAVE:signalregardlessofanycodes(CTCSS/DCSorDTMF)
CT / DQT:signalwiththeproperCTCSS/DCScode.
QD or Opt:signalwiththeproperCTCSS/DCScodeORDTMFcode.
QD and Opt: signalwiththeproperCTCSS/DCScodeANDDTMFcode.
DTMF
TheDTMFfunctionmustbeprogrammedbysoftware.Withits decoding
andencodingfeatures,DTMFcanbeusedasaselectivecallingsystem.
The automatic transmission of DTMF (PTT ID) codes and the STUN
function (which enables remote transmission to be disabled) are also
available.
EachDTMFencodecancontainamaximumof16symbols(0-9andA-F).
Themaximal16DTMFcallingcodescanbeprogrammedviasoftwarein
theAutoDialList.
For the PTT-ID feature - automatic transmission of a DTMF call upon
pushingorreleasingthePTTkey-2PTT-IDcodescanbe programmed
(beginningoftransmissionandendoftransmission).
TheDTMFradioIDdecodecanbecomposedofamaximumof10symbols
(0-9andA-F).Theusageofagroupsymbol(A-F)isenabled.Further,itis
possibletoactivateawarningtonethatwillbeaudibleintheeventofthe
receptionofacall.
The Stun functions allows to deactivate the transmission mode of a
remoteradio.Toactivatearadioforthisfeauture,thestuncodeneedsto
beassigned.Oncethisstuncodeisreceived,transmissionisdeactivated
(receptionisstillpossible).
Toreviveastunnedradio,thestuncode,followedbytheletterFhastobe
received.
