KNOW YOUR SCORPION

STARTING PROCEDURES
1. look fo rward and be sure a ll is cle ar.
2. Turn ignition key to "on" positi on.
3. Place choke in d os ed position.
4. Pull stc rter r op e slo wly un til it engo ges, tnen pull sha rply. Do not

FUEL-PROCEDURE S
Use a nome brond regular gasoline and Scorpion two -cycle air cool ed
eng ine oil. DO NOT USE OUTBOARD MOTOR OIL OR LEAD FRE EGAS.
The correct oi l/fuel mi xture is 20 to 1 (1 qua rt SCORPION Oi l to 5 gal -
lons of gas). T he only lubr ication your engine receives is the oil in the
gosol i ne. Too little oil or improper mixing could cause on engine
failure. Mix the fuel in a c1 eon, 5 gallon conto iner. First the oil, then
about 1 gallon gas, sha ke well, odd more gas vntil full, sha ke again .
Fill your fuel ton k. Remember, Hyou let the 5 ga llon containe rwith
fuel sit very long it should be sha k en again before fue l is poured into
the machine.

BREAKING IN YOUR SCORPION

ADJUSTING THE CARBURETOR

A. The low speed needle (A) is the idle odju stment. In mo st ca ses, for
proper a ccel erati on ,this ad justment must be turned out (counter.
eteek
-wise } approximatel y 1 turn fr om best id le pos iti on . If t he
low speed sett ing is adju sted and maintained to the best idle, poor
ac ce lera tion will result.
B. The high
sp eed a djus tme nt nee dle ( B) sets the amou nt of fuel the
engine receives. If this adjus tment is 100 leon , the eng ine will run
hot . This will red uce eng ine life. By turning the need le co unte r-clock
wi se, a richer fue l mix is obtained . If th is adj ust ment is too rich,
it w ill ope rate at what is commonl y called "four cycling", and excess
sm
oke will em it from the exhau st system. Pr oper test s of correct
high speed
ad justments can only be made while engine is ru nning
at full thr ott le under loa d. The setting is about 1 \4 to 1 \7 turns or
just 0 1 the point of el
imino tion of the heovy "four cycle" symp toms
at full throttle .

LUBRICATING YOUR SCORPION
1. Chain case oil shou ld be checked eve ry mon th. Remove lower pl ug
and odd l OW oil until oil fills to thread l evel.
2. Drive clutch need le be a rings e ve ry 50 hou rs w ith Scorpion Crutch
Lube.
3. Drive n clutch every mo nth. Remove bel t, open clutch by pushing
a nd rolo ling mova ble face , then opply a thin coa l of l ow tempera -
ture gre as e10 sha ft.

MAINTENANCE INFORMATION
1. BELT REPLAC EME NT
Apply pressure on broke hond le, gro.p
movable foce of dr iven cluteh and rotale
backwards. Then grasp bel! wi Th bot h

spreads, allowing enough slock to roll
belt off the d rive du tch. Roll belt off
upper side of dr iven clutch and rOlote
clutch untilbelt is free. To install, p loce
belt
around drive clutch, spread dri ven
clutch in some monner as above, then
roll be lt 01'110 driven clu tch.
2. BRAKE ADJUS TM ENT

3. TRACK ALIGNMENT AND ADJUSTMENT
Block back of unit up off surface, start engine and run slowly. The distance
between the edge of the track and suspension plate should be equally
spaced . If the track is not ce ntered, loosen bolts, then t'ghten a djusting
screw on the si de where the trac k is close~t to suspe nsion plate . This will
move trac k to other side. Tighten lock nuts On adjusting screws and t ighten
rema ining nuts .
Track tension should be checked per iodically as long life and effioiency
of
the track depends la rgely On the correctness of tension and alignment.
With unit bloc ked up off surfac e, the track shou ld be y, inch below center
bogey or s lider assembly .
To
adjust track tens ion, loosen nuts both sides of unit. Then tighten or
loosen
adjus ting screwS for correct tension. Tighten all nuts and screws.
