1 Eject Button Push to eject the optical drive tray hidden inside
2 Reset Button Push to reset
3 HDD Indicator LED blinks on and off as data is read from or written to
4 Wireless Indicator LED blinks on and off as data is being transferred
5 Bluetooth Indicator LED blinks on and off as data is being transferred
6 Power Indicator LED on means power on and LED off means power off
7 Power Button Push to power on and off
8 VFD Display Indicates current mode and status
*9 Fingerprint Sensor Swipe finger down the senor to activate, needs to be setup first.

Push to toggle the designated USB port into a USB server, connect
male-to-male USB cable on both sides to activate software

1 Power Puts the Shuttle Media Center into and out of sleep mode
2 LED Activity indicator lights on pressing a button
3 My Radio Opens the My Radio window
4 My Videos Opens the My Videos window
5 My Pictures Opens the My Pictures window
6 My Music Opens the My Music window
7 STOP Stops the media currently playing
8 Pause Pauses audio, video tracks and live or recorded TV programs.
9 REC
Records a selected television Program and stores it on the hard disk drive
when in Live TV mode. The Record button is inactive for all other media.
10 Rew Moves the media backward at two times
11 Play Plays the selected media
12 FWD Moves the media forward at three times
13 Replay Moves media backward 7 seconds
14 SKIP Moves media forward – for example, 30 seconds in videos and live TV
or one music track
15 Back
Returns Shuttle Media Center to the previous window within Media Center
16 More Displays available information about a selected media file and displays
other menus
17 Arrow Buttons move the cursor to navigate and select actions within all Media
Center windows
18 OK Selects the desired action or window option and acts as the Enter key
19 Volume Increases (+) and decreases (-) volume
20 CH / PG
Up (+) and down (-) changes the TV channels or moves pages up and
down, depending on available options. Moves to the next DVD chapter.
21 Media Center Start Media Center menu
22 MUTE Turns computer sound off. The word Mute is displayed when mute is
turned on
23 DVD Menu Opens the Play DVD window or opens the main menu of a DVD
movie, if available.
24 Guide Opens the Television Program Guide
25 Live TV Is a shortcut to the full-screen view of live TV
26 Recorded TV
Opens the Recorded TV window where recorded TV programs are listed
27 0 to 9, #, * Are the numeric keypad buttons to change channels or enter text into a
Media Center search or text box
28 Clear Deletes the last character
29 Enter Selects the desired action, menu, or window option
30 Teletext Is used to enable / disable telexes feature
31 Selection buttons for use with Teletext

1.2.1 Control Range and Angle
The remote control has a maximum
range of 26 feet (8 meters) and will
perform best if used within the maxi-
mum angle of 90ofrom the center of
the IR senor. Ensure a clear line of sight
between the remote and IR senor.
1.2.2 Battery Installation
1. Gently remove cover on the backside.
2. Insert two (2) AAA batteries following the directions.
3. Replace cover back on the remote.

2.1 Setting up your display
2 Setting up Shuttle Media Center
Digital and analog connections are available so you can connect to computer moni-
tors, flat-panel displays, plasma or LCD TVs or other display devices.
If a DVI connector is required for your display device you can use the DVI- HDMI
converter supplied with your Shuttle Media Center.
Display setup is now complete!
~If you wish to external graphics card please refer to the quick installation guide
about how to disable the onboard graphics and installing the graphics card.
EAnalog: Connect this to your computer monitor or LCD TVs.
EDigital: Connect this to your HDMI enabled plasma or LCD TVs.

2.2 Setting up your audio system
Connect external amplifier or 5.1 / 7.1 channel speaker system with analog audio
output.
Front left and Right speakers
The audio connectors are color coded on most analog audio devices.
~Please make only 1/8” stereo plugs are used to connect with the back panel.

2.3 Connecting to an external amplifier
If your amplifier supports multiple channel audio input, the following configuration
can be setup.
Please refer to your amplifier’s user manual for the correct location.
~1/8” stereo to RCA plug Y-cables will be needed to make this connection.

If your audio device supports Dolby® Digital Live or DTS™ Connect, you can easily
enjoy cinema sound quality through S/PDIF digital output.
Please refer to your amplifier’s user manual for the correct location.
2.3.1 Connecting external amplifier with digital S/PDIF output
Shuttle Media Center supports HDMI 1.2 standard with the ability to transmit audio
and video signal over the HDMI cable.
2.3.2 Connect HDTV or external amplifier with HDMI output
If your audio device supports Dolby® Digital Live or DTS™ Connect, you can easily
enjoy cinema sound quality through HDMI digital output.

2.4 Setting up your network
Connect to your broadband modem or existing home network if you wish to connect
to the Internet or access your home network.
EConnect the Ethernet cable to the Ethernet Port.
You have now completed setting up your network.
2.4.1 Connect the Ethernet cable
If you wish to use wireless connection attach the wireless antenna provided. Not all
models come pre-installed with wireless access.

Ways to connect with your display
3 Getting Started
To access Microsoft Media Center you will need to have one of the following in-
stalled Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium, Ultimate edition or Microsoft Win-
dows XP Media Center Edition. The following guide will be based on the Microsoft
Windows Vista Ultimate Edition.
3.1 Start Microsoft Windows Vista Media Center
Start your Windows Media Center with either one of the follow options.
A. Click Start, Windows Media Center
or Start, All Programs, Windows Media Center.
This guide provides information to the usage of Microsoft Media Center. If you
have not completed the installation of your barebone, please refer to the quick
installation guide or user manual provided.
B. Press the start button on your remote control.
C.Press the start button on your multimedia keyboard.

3.2 Windows Media Center Setup
When running Windows Media Center for the rst time, a setup screen will pop up.
ESelect Express Setup and click OK.
You have now completed conguring Windows Media Center, enjoy!
3.3 Basic Windows Media Center usage
EPlaying DVD contents
To play your favorite DVDs, press OK at TV + Movies menu which should be the
rst you see.

Press the Right button till you see the play dvd icon and press OK once you have
inserted your disc into your optical drive.

Press Up and nd the Music menu and press Right button and OK on play all to
play all your favorite music.

4 Troubleshooting
Make sure you have the correct BIOS file, if you are unsure about your model
refer to your quick installation guide.
Q:How do I update my BIOS in Windows?
A: To update your BIOS you will rstly need 2 things, the new BIOS le and
WINFLASH. Both of which can be downloaded from http://global.shuttle.com/
download.jsp.
Step 1: Extract the WINFLASH zip le.
Step 2: Run WINFLASH.exe
Step 3: Select File, Update BIOS and locate your new BIOS le and click ok,
you will be prompted to conrm and click ok.
Q:Why am I not getting any sound from my HDMI connection?
A: For Vista: Click Start, Control Panel, Hardware and Sound, Sound and select
Digital Output Device (HDMI).
Q:Can I use HDMI and S/PDIF at the same time?
A: Yes, but you will need to manually congure audio settings as Microsoft only
supports single digital output.
For Vista: Click Start, Control Panel, Hardware and Sound, Sound and select
Realtek Digital Output.
Check with your user manual for audio software installation.
