Different
television
stations
broadcast
programmmes
on
dif-
ferent
channels.
For
example,
the
television
station.
Dillberg
(in
the
Nurnberg
area)
broadcasts
the
first
programme
(ARD)
on
channel
6.
These
channels
must
be
assigned
to
channel
positions
in
the
television.
It is only necessary to make these settings once when you set
up
your
television
for
the
first
time
or
if
reception
conditions
change
(for
example,
if
you
move
to
another
location
or
if
you
are
connected
to
a
cable
source
at
a
later
date).
In
addition
to
the
49
channel
positions,
you
also
have
the
programme
postitions
AV1,
AV2.
and
AV3
.
Your television can receive channels from television stations
(as
well
as
from
satellites,
cable
television
networks
and
video
recorders)
which
broadcast
in
the
colour
norm
PAL-
BG.
Television channels. can be assigned channel positions. with
the
automatic
channel
search
function
(ATS
euro
plus
=
auto
tuning. system).
A
special
feature
of
this
new
system
is
the
automatic
station
programming
function.
This
so-called
station
memory
system
scans
the
entire
recep-
tion
range,
stores
the
channels
found,
and
enters
them
into
a
table
with
their
respective
station
identification
abbreviations.
The
channels
found
are
then
evaluated
according
to
the
quaii-
ty
of
the
reception.
This
means
that
those
channels
with
poor
reception
quality
are
entered
at
the
end
of
the
table.
In
this
way,
only
channels
with
good
picture
quality
are
assig-
ned-to
the
beginning
of the
table.
The
search
procedure
is
accompanied
by
helpful
information
in
the
form-.of
a
channel
number.
During
the
search
procedure,
the
channels,
which
can
be
cal-
led
up
later,
are
sorted
according
to
language
and
country
and
read
into
the
TV
station
table.
In
this
table,
you
can
arrange
the
automatically
assigned
channels
(without
their
station
identification)
according
to
your
specific
needs
and
give
them
a
name
of
your
choice
or
their
respective
station
identification
abbreviation.
Switching on
Switch the television on with the power switch @.
Call up the Info Centre:
Press the MENUE button. “MENUE —> OK" appears on the
screen.
Press the OK button.
The five-part menu will appear on the screen.

ATS: EURO. PLUS
At the bottom of this display, as with all other displays, there
is a dialogue line consisting of words and symbols. These
symbols are identical to the ones on the remote control.
Only the symbols (buttons) shown on the screen can be used
to call up functions. This system is called the user guide, and
is referred to in the following sections when required.

The television can be programmed from a wide selection of
languages for on-screen dialogue. After a language has been
selected, all displays will appear in this language. German is
pre-set at the factory.
If you want to select a new language,
press the < a > button.
Activate the "ATS EURO. PLUS" on the menu:
Press the AP button until the line "ATS EURO PLUS’ is
highlighted in blue.
Gail up country locations on the menu:
Press the OK button
Country
Germany is pre-set at the factory.
A: different. location (country). can. be selected with the
< aed > button.
Starting the ATS EURO PLUS search function
Press the OK button. This starts the ATS EURO PLUS search
procedure. This procedure automatically sorts the available
channels.
When the search procedure is finished, the TV Station Table
is displayed on the screen.
Directions for CH (Switzerland), NL (the
Netherlands) and B (Belgium):
After selecting the location (country) and confirming this
choice with the OK button, this page is displayed.

know the channel numbers.
If you have already assigned the channels using "ATS euro
plus«, it is not necessary to assign them again.
Example:
The second channel (ZDF) is broadcast on channel 34 and
you want to re-assign it to channel! position 2.

To select the ‘desired channel position 2, press numeric but-
ton 2 (or with button ~ P or A P gradually and one-place).

Press the P/€ button.
AC (C€ for channel) and a number between 00 and 49 appear
on the screen for approximately 3 seconds.
\f you receive channels via cable which must be received on
special channels, press P/€ to set these.
S$ (S for special channel!) appears on the screen for approxi-
mately 3 seconds.
Entering the channe! number
Within the 3 seconds, first press 3, then 4.
The.channel number-34:is.now entered.
Storing the channel! number
Press the A P button.
Fine-tuning appears on the screen.
Store with the OK button.

Changing the volume of a channel position
lf you receive a programme whose volume differs from other
channels (too loud or too soft), this volume can be adjusted
as follows:
Procedure:
If you do not use this function until much later, you must call
up the menu first and then select the menu item "SPECIAL
FUNCTIONS".
With button ~ P.or AP highlight the fourth menu line.
Press the OK button twice.
The bar graph display "volume" appears.
Adjust the volume with the < a > button.
Only the volume of the programme currently being viewed is
changed!
The volume level is stored and stays the same if the channel
is selected again for viewing.
The function "HP" is used for autornatic programming of your
television. Only a dealer with the IR DATA-PROGRAMMERS
can use this function to programme your television automati-
cally.

There are various displays for menu item 2. These are
dependent on the sound signals of the station, for example,
MONO, STEREO, etc.
Stereo or two-channel sound transmission
lf your television can receive two-channel sound transmissi-
on,
for
example
when
a
film
is
broadcast
in
the
original
soundtrack transmitted on sound channel B and the synchro-
nised version on sound channel A, you can highlight the ver-
sion you want to hear in blue with button AP or wP.
Switch (from A to B) with the OK button:
lf you use headphones, you must also press the AUX button.
Your television automatically switches to stereo if the channel!
is transmitted in stereo.
STEREO. appears. on the screen.
If the quality of the stereo reception is poor, you can switch
to mono by pressing the OK button.
Treble, bass and balance
The sound can be adjusted according to your individual
needs.
Select with button AP or w P.
Press the OK button.
The respective bar graph display appears on the screen.
Adjust with the button < at >.
After a moment, the menu appears on the scren again.
The menu disappears with the MENUE button,

Select the TV programme whose telext pages you want to
call up by pressing the numeric buttons 1...0.
Press the & button on the remote control.
The table of contents, page 100, or the most previously
viewed teletext page appears. on the screen.
Press the 3 button to switch off the teletext.
A red, green, yellow and blue field is shown at the bottom of
the screen. Buttons of the same colour are found:on the
remote control.
To scroll backward, press the red button on the remote
“control.
To scroll forward to the next available page (with overrun to
the next group), press the green button on the remote
control.
To switch to the next group, press the yellow button on the
remote control. After the last group in the selected block,
you are automatically taken to the next block (overrun).
To switch from block to.block, press the blue button on the
remote control
Enter the three-place number of the desired page with the
numerical buttons 1....0.
— The page number is in the upper edge of the screen and
the page appears after. a moment.

Station you are currently viewing.
Press the MENUE. button.

In FOLOF mode, this function takes you to the table of
contents that is chosen by the TV station.

pages/pag
stop
Several subpages can be combined under a single page
number. These are then automatically scrolled at an interval
determined by the TV station. This is indicated by a symbol
under the time, for example, 3/6 means that-you are looking
at. page 3 of 6.
lf you want to stop and look at the page press Stop.
Press the AUX button.
The dialogue line appears.
Select the symbol STOP with the < a > button.
Press the OK button,
STOP appears on the top of the screen. The contents of the
page shown are kept on the screen and:are no longer
updated or switched to other subpages.
Press the OK button,
The "Stop" function is cancelled and the current subpage
appears.
Press the AUX button (dialogue line appears).
With the <uet > button, select the symbol /00.
Press the OK button.
The page number selected appears in the info line,:for

Enter the four-place subpage number that you want to call up
with the numeric. butions. Foe example, the second: page,

Updating a page -
Bypassing the waiting period
Certain telelext pages are continually updated, for example,
stock market reports, sports announcements and the latest
news.
lf you want to watch television and stay informed at the
same time, first select a page of your choice, and then
press the AUX button (dialogue line is displayed).
With the < a > button, select the symbol Ex.
Press the OK button.
The regular programme is still visible for viewing and the
teletext symbol appears at the top of the screen.
lf the info line appears, for example, p. 143, then
Press the AUX button.
The teletext page appears with the updated information.
This function is also used to bypass waiting periods while
the teletext recorder searches for a page. When the page has
been found, the info line appears, for example, p. 143.

Insert the headphone jack (3.5 mm @) into the socket ®.

Press the AUX button, then adjust the volume with the

Continue to press the OAV button until AV 1 appears.
Keep the SAT button depressed and enter the desired channel
position with the numeric buttons 1... 0.
Certain television stations that broadcast via cable scramble
their programmes. The sound and picture signals you receive
on your television are purposefully distorted. You can
unscramble these kinds of transmissions with a decoder.
Connect your decoder to the black EURO AV socket © and
switch it on.
Select the scrambled channel position on your television.
Press buttons AUX and OAV.
"DESCRAMBLER OFF'.appears.
By repeatedly pressing the OAV button, the following func-
tions. can be selected::
"DESGRAMBLER ON AUTOMATIC"
Switches-automatically to mono, stereo, or two-channel
broadcasts. This depends on the television broadcast received
via aerial.

The left and right sound channels of additional units attached
to the black EURO AV. socket are switched through to the
speakers.
"DESCRAMBLER ON MONO -L*
For "Mono L", the left sound channel is switched to both
speakers.
"DESCRAMBLER ON MONO. R*
For "Mono R", the right sound. channel is switched to the
speakers.
The scrambled programmes are.routed from the television to
the decoder, are descrambled, and are then routed. back to
the television where the unscrambled signals can be viewed
as a normal television programme.
You can. also record the programme with a video recorder
attached to the blue AV socket. If a programme location is to
be set up. for which decorder operation may be: unsuitable,
press the AUX button and then the OAV button. until
“"DESCRAMBLER OFF" appears.

Assign the playback channe! specified by your video recorder
(between 30 and 40) to any channel position (for example,
P16) (see "Assigning channel positions manually’). If you
enter the symbol AV to this channel position as the station
identification, possible deviations from the playback channel
of the recorder via the television can be compensated for.
If you do not know the playback channel of your video recor-
der; start the video recorder playback and search for the
channel using the channel search of your television (see
chapter "Assigning channel positions’).
Note the channel position for subsequent video playback.
You can adjust the sharpness of the video picture, if desired.
(see chapter "Fine-tuning’).

Connection:
Connect the camcorder to.the FBAS socket.@9 with a suitable
cable. The sound channel must be separated via both cinch
sockets 4.
Operation:
Press the OAV button until AV 3.appears on the screen.
Start camcorder playback.
Camcorder playback is visible on.the screen.
The picture quality fora S-VHS video recorder, a S-VHS
camera or a Hi 8 camcorder is even better when connected to
the S-Video socket @. This is because the colour. and
brightness: signals: can. be processed. separately from. one
another. This ensures:that they cannot influence each other;
cross colour luminance is, for example, eliminated. The
sound must also be separated via both cinch sockets 4.
Connect the sound cable to the L socket for mono units ©.
It is also possible to connect it to. the EURO AV socket.
Operation:
Connection to the S-Video socket ©
Press the OAV button until AV 3 appears on the screen.
Start. playback on the camera or video recorder. Playback is
visible on the screen.

You can record from one video to another, or from a camcor-
der to a video recorder, or fram a S-VHS video recorder to
another video recorder.
Proceed as follows:
Connection:
Connect the playback recorder or camcorder to the black
EURO AV socket ©,
Connect the camcorder to the cinch socket FBAS 49. Connect
RINL®.
Connect the S-VHS camera. or Hi 8 camcorder. to the
S-VIDEO socket @, connect R IN L @),
Connect the recording recorder to the blue EURO AV socket @.
Operation:
Select the input socket with the OAV button.

Press the AUX and then press the OAV button.
Displayed on the screen is:

You-can now watch any channel without disturbing the
recording.
To cancel the COPY function, press the AUX button and then
the OAV button.

also

used

operate

video
recorders.
