seems to be a personal preference. 900 degrees is the maximum for the G27 wheel, and we
suggest using 900 from the global profiler. This can always be reduced in in-game settings,
but if it is set below 900, it cannot be raised in in-game settings.
Surround sound settings:
Sound settings may need to be set up for 5.1 surround sound in both Windows settings from
the control panel and in the sound card software. Volume levels and balance may also be
adjusted in the mixer. The rear speakers are closer to your ears, therefore will need to be
turned down. We recommend turning up the front, center, and sub channels to maximum
level while leaving the rear speakers at ~80%. This will achieve a near perfect balance, and
from here you can test each speaker individually from the main menu and adjust as needed.
iRacing setup:
Once you have signed up for iRacing and downloaded the service onto th e PC, you will need
to configure controls and settings in iRacing. Go into a test run to configure these items.
Once in the test, there will be a yellow “configure controls” button at the top. Once the
controls are set, this will change to “practice”, “qualify”, “test” or “grid” depending on what
you are signed up for. Critical settings will be:
-Wheel and shifter calibration –go through calibration process
-Sound settings –enable surround sound, adjust levels as desired
-Controls setup –Adjust brake force curve factor. The higher the setting, the further
the brake pedal will travel before lockup. Higher settings make braking much easier
for standard G27 pedals. Load cell pedals, or pedals with greater spring or hydraulic
resistance that measure brake force rather than distance, will use a lower setting.
Use somewhere between 3 and 4 for standard G27 pedals.
There are many other settings in iRacing, but these are the most important to an enjoyable
start in the program. Other settings will be based on user preference as you get more
comfortable. There is always tweaking that can be done, and may be different for each
vehicle in the game. Keep tabs on iRacing forums and other outlets to find out what others
are doing for the best experience.
