Connect to properly grounded outlets only.
This heater is for use on 120 volts. This appliance has a grounded plug as shown
in Fig. 1. An adapter, as shown, is available at retail (not included) for connecting
three-blade grounding-type plugs to two-slot receptacles. The green grounding lug
extending from the adapter must be connected to a permanent ground such as a
properly grounded outlet box. The adapter should not be used if a three-slot
grounded receptacle is available. Do not circumvent the safety features of the
grounding-type plug. Do not modify the power cord.

THE PLUG ON YOUR PRODUCT.
This heater draws 12.5 amps during operation. To prevent overloading a circuit, do
not plug the heater into a circuit that already has other appliances working.
It is normal for the plug to feel warm to the touch; however, a loose fit between the
AC outlet (receptacle) and plug may cause overheating and distortion of the plug.
Contact a qualified electrician to replace loose or worn outlet.
To disconnect the heater, first turn controls to the OFF position, then grips the plug
body and pull it from the wall outlet. Never pull by the cord.
Do not insert or allow foreign objects to enter any ventilation or exhaust opening as
this may cause an electric shock or fire, or damage to the heater.
To prevent a possible fire, do not block air intakes or exhaust in any manner. Do
not use on soft surfaces, like abed, or where openings may become blocked.
A heater has hot and arcing or sparking parts inside. Do not use it in areas where
gasoline, paint or flammable liquid are used or stored.
Use this heater only as described in this manual. Any other use not recommended
by the manufacturer may cause fire, electric shock, or injury to persons.
Always plug heater direct into a wall outlet /receptacle. Avoid the use of an
extension cord because the extension cord may overheat and cause a risk of fire.

20. Never tamper with this product or attempt to fix it. Any tampering with, or
modification of, this product can result in serious injury, death, fire or risk of electric
shock. Do not open, no user serviceable parts inside.
21. Do not remove product labels that contain warnings or safety instruction.
22. The output of this heater may vary and its temperature may become intense enough
to burn exposed skin. Use of this heater is not recommended for persons with
reduced sensitivity to heat or an inability to react to avoid burns.
23. Before cleaning, or storage, or when not in use, turn the product's controls to the
OFF position and unplug the heater from the electrical outlet and allow it to cool.
24. If your home has aluminium wiring, have a licensed electrician check your
receptacle's connections. When using a 1500 watt heater, aluminium wire
connections can cause a safety issue.
25. Place the heater on a firm, level, open surface free from obstructions and at least
3 feet (0.9 m) away from any combustible materials. DO NOT use on an unstable
surface such as bedding or deep carpeting. Be sure the heater is not in a position
where it may be tipped over by small children or pets. The heater's rubber wheels
will hold it firmly in position.

SET-UP WHEEL BASE ASSEMBLY
NOTE: DO NOT OPERATE THE HEATER WITHOUT THE WHEEL BASE ASSEMBLIES
IN PLACE .THE HEATER MUST ALWAYS BE USED IN AN UPRIGHT POSITION. DO
NOT OPERATE THE HEATER IF THE WHEELS ARE NOT ASSEMBLED CORRECTLY.
» Make sure the heater is unplugged and in the OFF position.
» Turn the heater upside down to install wheels.

Push wheels into each wheel base pin, until you hear them snap into position.
While the heater is still upside-down, look for the two U-bolt location indication labels
(Fig. 2), then, pill off the indication labels, position the U-bolts and wheel base
assemblies as instructed. Attach the wheel base assemblies to the U-bolts and tighten
it by using the wing nuts provided. (Fig. 3)

Turn heater right-side up. Your heater is now ready for use. Place the heater on a firm,
level surface free from obstructions, and at least 3ft. (0.9m) away from any wall or
combustible material. If the controls are located at the bottom and the SMAL logo is
upside down you have installed the wheels incorrectly. (Fig. 4)
NOTE: This heater contains oil that is permanently sealed and will never require
refilling or replacing.
NOTE: THIS HEATER MAY TAKE UP TO SEVERAL MINUTES TO REACH NORMAL
OPERATIONAL TEMPERATURE.

HOW TO USE
Using your SMALCO heater is easy. Just follow these simple steps.
STEP 1: POWER
ROOM TEMP
» Press the POWER button (d) to turn on the
heater. Your heater will automatically start on
HIGH heat setting in CONSTANT HEAT mode.

> Toturn your heater OFF, simply press the
POWER button ((1)) again.

STEP 2: SET TEMPERATURE
> Press the TEMPERATURE SETTING button (22?) to select “LO, HI, 65°, 70°,
75°, 80°” six power settings in sequence. (Fig. 6)

> Thedefault power setting is“HI”power.
» If “LO” or “HI” mode is selected, the heater will work
constantly in “LO”or “HI” power. The “CONSTANT
HEAT” indicator light will be illuminated.
> Ifanyof 65°, 70°, 75° or 80° mode is selected, the
heater will run in “TEMP SET” mode to keep you
comfortable and save energy. The “TEMP SET” indicator
light will be illuminated. If 70° is selected, the heater will maintain the room
temperature in the range of 67.5-72.5°F.
STEP 3: AUTO SHUT-OFF TIMER CONTROL
> Pressing the TIMER button (© ) can select any of
“2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12” auto-off time settings in
sequence. (Fig. 7)

NOTE: This heater will cool down slowly after the power is shut off. Before moving
the heater, use the built-in handle and allow the heater to be completely cool.
TEMPERATURE INDICATION FEATURE
Room Temperature Indication Area —— The displayed
temperature is the current room temperature +2.5°F. If it
displays “75*”,the current room temperature will be in a
range of 72.5-77.5°F.

NOTE: If room temperature is less than 65°F , the temperature indicator light will not
be illuminated. (Fig. 8)
Current Operating Status —— If the indicator light on top
of “LO” is illuminated, the heater is working on constant LO
power heat setting; if indicator light on top of “HI” is
illuminated, the heater is working on constant HI power heat
setting; if indicator light on top of “STAND BY” is illuminated,
the heater is not working.

NOTE: When heater is operating in “TEMP SET” mode, the heater will be working
in various heat settings to maintain your desired temperature and save energy;
therefore, the“Current Operating Status” indicator lights will be changing in
accordance with the current room temperature.(Fig. 9)
TIP-OVER SWITCH FEATURE
>
This heater is equipped with a tip-over switch that disables the heater if it is tipped
sideward. To restore power to the heater:
Place the heater in the upright position.
Press the Power button.
The LED display will be activated and normal operation will resume.
TROUBLESHOOTING
If your heater shuts off unexpectedly:
Be sure the heater is plugged in and that the
electrical outlet is working.

Check your temperature setting. The heater may
simply be off because it has reached your desired
temperature setting or your timer setting may have
elapsed.
Check to make sure your heater is assembled
correctly. If your heater is assembled and operating
incorrectly it could result in a burning odor and
smoke. (Fig.10)
NOTE: If you continue to experience a problem, please contact consumer relations
first or see your warranty. Do not return the heater to the original place of purchase.
Do not attempt to open the heater yourself. Doing so may void your warranty and
cause damage to the heater or personal injury.
CLEANING AND STORAGE
CLEANING
We recommend that the heater be cleaned at least once a month and before
off-season storage.
Turn the heater OFF and unplug it. Allow it to cool completely. Use only a dry cloth to
clean the external surfaces of the heater.
DO NOT USE WATER, WAX, POLISH, OR ANY CHEMICAL SOLUTION.
STORAGE
Clean your heater using the above mentioned steps.
Wrap the cord around the cord wrap on the unit, place it in its original box and store
in a cool, dry area.

Este calentador consume 12.5 amperes durante su funcionamiento. Para evitar
la sobrecarga de un circuito, no enchufe el calentador en un circuito que ya tiene
otros aparatos funcionando.
Es normal que el enchufe esté algo caliente al tacto, sin embargo, una mala
conexion entre la toma de corriente alterna (receptaculo) y el enchufe puede
causar sobrecalentamiento y distorsión del enchufe. Póngase en contacto con

PASO 1: ALIMENTACION

NOTA: Cuando el calentador está funcionando en el modo de "TEMP SET", el
calentador va a trabajar en diversas configuraciones de calentamiento para
mantener la temperatura deseada y ahorrar energía; por lo tanto, la luz de
indicación del "OPERATING STATUS" cambiará de acuerdo con la temperatura
actual de la habitación. (Fig. 9)
