Chap 1. SmartAT-870 OS update Module
The fact is updating PDA with new version of OS is a very important procedure. The following
contents in the document explain the details of the OS update procedure.
Note: During OS update always keep SmartAT-870 connected to AC power.
1.1 User OS Version confirmation
The O/S confirmation which is established: (OI, OG, OC)
Hold the stylus pointer on My Device icon till the pop-up menu appears.
Tap on Properties menu, will show the System properties screen.

Check: 1. “OI or OG” OS Type
2. RAM (Size)
3. OS Ver 1.06
4. Language (E-Eng, K-Kor, CT-Cha)

The Actual Version: OI 50 ATID 128M 1.06K.DI OG 50 ATID 128M 1.20CT.DI
The new File: OI 50 ATID 128M 1.13K.DI OG 50 ATID 128M 1.30CT.DI
Caution: Before updating please confirm that the OS type and size of the RAM of actual and
new file are exactly same, if its not so the OS update is not possible.
Check Point
1. OI Type(Actual) ->OI Type(New), OG Type(Actual) -> OG Type (New)
2. Ram 128M> 128M

1.2 SmartAT-870 O/S Update
To update SmartAT-870 O/S please refer to the following procedure
1.2.1 Start
Take out the main battery from SmartAT-870 and below the battery you will see the SD card insertion
slot. Please insert the new SD memory card with new O/S files in the SD slot. (Always keep PDA
connected to AC power.)
Note: The SD card must only have 1 DI Root file. Before updating please remove all other DI
files.

1.2.2. PDA Update Order
Press Power and Reset button simultaneously, after a while only keep pressing Power
button and not the reset button.

After a second you will see the Following message on the screen.
Step 1: To Update, Insert Card , Insert the SD card with appropriate files

Step 2: You will see the following messages in sequence “Read OS Image …”and “Write OS Image…”
Step 3: Wait till the “Complete” message appears on Screen. Please do the warm reset after the OS
update is over.
1.3 Setting up Demo program after the OS update
After OS update please set the Date and Time of the PDA and press Ok button.
In order to run the demo program Run \\Windwos\\Setup.exe file. Make the necessary settings and
press OK.
The OS update is over.
