ABOUT NOAA RADIOS
NOAA Weather Radio (NWR) is a nationwide network of radio stations broadcasting continuous weather information
direct from a nearby National Weather Service office. NWR broadcasts National Weather Service warnings, watches,
forecasts and other hazard information 24 hours a day. NWR is provided as a public service by the National Oceanic &
Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), part of the Department of Commerce. NWR includes more than 670 transmitters,
covering all 50 states, adjacent coastal waters, Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands, and the U.S. Pacific Territories.
Broadcasts are found in the public service band at seven different frequencies (MHz).
BATTERY INSTALLATION
The battery door is located in the back of the unit. Slide open the battery door and insert (2) AA batteries according to the
polarity markings located on the inside of the battery compartment. Slide battery door back to the closed position.
When replacing batteries, always replace all batteries at the same time; do not mix old and new batteries. Do not mix
alkaline, standard (carbon-zinc) or rechargeable (ni-cad, ni-mh, etc.) batteries.
NOTE: please recycle or dispose of batteries per local regulations.
WARNING: Batteries may pose a choking hazard. Do not let children handle batteries.
PRECAUTION: Do not dispose of batteries in fire. Batteries may explode or leak. Remove the batteries if the
thermometer or remote sensor will not be used for a long period of time.
SETTING THE CLOCK AND CALENDAR
Press MODE button two times to begin setting the calendar. Press the SET button to advance to correct month. Press the
MODE button to lock in month and advance to day settings. Press SET button to advance to correct day of month. Press
MODE button once to lock in day setting and advance to clock setting procedure. Press SET button to advance to correct
hour. Press MODE to lock in hour and advance to minutes setting. Press SET to advance to correct minutes and then press
MODE to lock in time. The two dots between the hours and minutes should be blinking.
LISTENING TO THE WEATHER RADIO
To listen to the weather radio:
1) Extend the antenna.
2) Turn the VOLUME CONTROL KNOB to a moderate listening volume.
3) Slide the ALERT/VOICE SWITCH on the front of the unit to VOICE.
4) Select the appropriate frequency channel using the rotating knob on the front of the unit.
5) Reception may vary in different locations of your home, office or outdoors. If the reception on your radio is not
adequate, move the radio to other locations and adjust the antenna for best reception.
There are 7 channel weather band frequencies:
Channel 1: 162.550 Channel 5: 162.450
Channel 2: 162.400 Channel 6: 162.500
Channel 3: 162.475 Channel 7: 162.525
Channel 4: 162.425
You will need to determine which channel is appropriate for your area. You can do so by simply trying each of the 7
channels by rotating the selector knob to each channel or you can refer to the enclosed “NOAA Weather Radio” brochure
for a list of frequencies by location. For Station Listings and further information about NOAA weather radio you can
visit the NOAA National Weather Service web site at www.weather.gov/nwr/.
WEATHER ALERT STANDBY
The weather alert standby mode allows the unit to operate in a silent mode. The unit will automatically set off the alert
siren to warn of a local hazard. Make sure that the correct channel is selected and the antenna is in the proper position.
Turn the VOLUME CONTROL KNOB to a mid-range listening level. Set the ALERT/VOICE switch to ALERT. The
TEST button LED light should be lit. This indicates that the NOAA radio is in the Weather Alert Standby Mode.
If a severe weather alert is being broadcast on your weather frequency, the Alert Siren will sound and the LED light will
start to blink. To hear the alert message, you can either press the TEST button or switch the VOICE/ALERT SWITCH to
VOICE.

FLASHLIGHT
Your weather alert radio is equipped with an emergency flashlight. This feature is operated by the switch located on the
top of the unit. Slide the switch forward to activate flashlight. Slide it back to deactivate. In the event the unit needs a
bulb replacement a standard 2.2V, 25Amp bulb can be inserted by twisting the lens collar clockwise and pulling straight
out.
ONE (1) YEAR LIMITED WARRANTY
This product is warranted against defects in materials or workmanship (excluding batteries) for one (1) year from date of
original purchase for the original purchaser. It does not cover damages or wear resulting from accident, misuse, abuse,
commercial use, or unauthorized adjustment and/or repair. Should this product require service (or replacement at our
option) while under warranty, do not return to retailer. Please pack the item carefully and return it prepaid, along with
store receipt showing date of purchase and a note explaining reason for return to:
