SWAGMAN SPRAYER 16LTR V3 MANUAL
Please read this operating and maintenance manual carefully. It is designed to help you get
optimum performance from your sprayer and ensure a long and productive working life.
Important safety messages are also provided.
GETTING STARTED
NOTE: Your Sprayer has been spray tested before packing so may still be wet inside.
1. Undo the tank lid and remove the Nozzle Set,Spare Parts Kit, Spotter Gun and Spray Shield.
2. Remove the plug from the pump outlet at the base of the tank and then attach the hose
fitting.
3. Attach the hose to the inlet of the handpiece. Do not over-tighten.
4. Attach the lance to the outlet of the handpiece. Do not over-tighten.
5. Select a nozzle and attach to the lance.
6. Slide the lance holder into the grooves on the side of the tank.
7. Fully charge the battery. The battery is charged before shipping but does self- discharge in
the course of storage, so additional charging is usually required. For the first few recharges
it is beneficial to top up the recharge three hours after the green light has indicated a full
charge. See Recharging the Battery
8. Trial spray with 5 litres of fresh water. This is recommended to ensure there are no leaks. Fill
the tank through the filter and close the lid.
9. Turn on the toggle Power Switch situated on the tank base.NOTE:By pressing the right
hand side of the switch (Setting II) the pump is fully engaged. By pressing the left hand side
of the switch (Setting I) the Pressure Rheostat is engaged.
10. Press the spray lever on the handle to start spraying. Once started, slide the lever forward to
lock into position for continuous spraying as required.
11. To use variable spray pressures, press the left hand side of the toggle Power Switch (I) and
turn the Pressure Rheostat Knob to obtain the desired pressure.NOTE:When using single-
hole or fan shaped nozzles always use low pressure.
12. After spraying, flush the tank and the pump with fresh water to remove any spray residues.
Remove the tank drain cap to drain the last remaining liquid from the tank. Remove the
hose fitting to allow full draining of the pump. When completed replace the caps securely.

ASSEMBLING SPRAY SHIELD
1. Select Shield nozzle tting (has locking nut).
2. Remove (unscrew) nozzle tip and locking nut.
3. Place the nozzle stem through the hole on the top side of the shield, elbow end on
the outside, and lining up the notch guides.
4. Secure by screwing the locking nut on the nozzle stem, on the inside of the shield.
5. Screw on the nozzle tip ensuring the washer is seated.
6. Attach Spray Shield to the Lance.

RECHARGING THE BATTERY
NOTE: TURN OFF ALL SWITCHES BEFORE RECHARGING.
Recharge the battery in a well-ventilated, dry and safe area, on a raised bench.
Connect the battery charger supplied to the terminal situated on the tank base.
The battery charging indicator light on the charger shows red when the battery is being
charged and green when charging is completed.
NOTE:A full recharge may take up to 8 hours. Do not have on charge for more than 24
hours.
Battery life indicator lights on the sprayer show green when the battery is fully charged. A
yellow light indicates that the battery needs recharging. The red light along with an alarm
warning indicates work should stop until the battery is recharged.
OPERATING TIPS
NOTE: ALWAYS SWITCH OFF WHEN NOT SPRAYING.
• Fully recharge the battery after each use.
• Switch the power OFF after each use and before storing.
• Never allow the battery to fully discharge.
• Ensure hose is tted securely before lling with liquid.
• Always ensure the tank inlet lter is in place before lling with liquid.
• Do not operate the sprayer without liquid as this will damage the valves in the
diaphragm pump.
• When using the single-hole nozzles or the fan-shaped nozzle turn the Pressure Rheostat
Knob to low.
• Never place the sprayer upside down or lay it on its side as this action may damage the
battery.
• If the unit presents a humming sound after storage or prolonged use, recharge the
battery.
• In the case of long term storage, recharging of the battery every three months is
recommended to prolong its service life.

CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE
• Before cleaning ensure the Power Switch is o and the Battery Charger is disconnected.
• Thoroughly clean the tank and all parts that come into contact with the spray agent
after each use by ushing with fresh water and fully discharging via the tank and pump
drain outlets. NOTE: If changing the spray agent it is advisable to re-ush the tank and
pump before re-lling.
• Wipe the outsides with a damp clean cloth.
• After prolonged use clean inside the tank.
• Regularly check and clean the lter basket under the tank lid, the small lter inside the
handle piece and the pump lter in the bottom of the tank.
• Every 6 months the base unit should be opened and checked for any loose screws,
connections etc.
• In case of long term storage, additional charging and maintenance should be
programmed for at least every three months.
• Always check the sprayer is in sound working order before using. Check ttings are
secure. Check the toggle Power Switch and the Pressure Rheostat knob are working
correctly. Check the lters are clean.
• Service the Swagman regularly and use only genuine spare parts as supplied by
• Swagman Australia.
CAUTION
• NEVER LEAVE ON IF NOT SPRAYING
• Always mix the spraying agents in accordance with the instructions provided by its
supplier.
• Never mix the spraying agent in the sprayer tank. Mix in a separate container.
• Pre-lter any spraying agents that have been mixed from herbal preparations before
lling the tank through the inlet lter.
• Never change to a dierent spraying agent without rst thoroughly ushing and
cleaning the tank and all parts that come into contact with the spray.
• The Swagman tank has a capacity of 16 litres as marked on the side of the tank. Do not
ll beyond the top marking.
• Do not operate the sprayer in temperatures above 45C or lower than 10C.
• Never spray powder, ne particle products or viscous liquids from the unit.
• Never use liquids such as strong acid or inammable liquid.
• Never use solutions at temperatures higher than 40C
• Do not expose the sprayer to ame or immerse the base or tank in water as this will
damage the electronics.
• Do not spray near people or animals. Avoid windy conditions. Spray safe!

SAFE HANDLING OF THE RECHARGEABLE BATTERY AND CHARGER
• Use only the charger supplied with the Swagman to recharge the battery.
• Ensure the battery and the charger is kept clear of water. Clean with a dry or damp
cloth.
• Hold the body of the plug when plugging in and disconnecting the charger.
• Do not open the battery or the charger.
• Do not dispose of the battery or charger as normal domestic waste. Use approved
methods of disposal.
SAFE HANDLING OF SPRAY PESTICIDES
• Strict compliance with the safety instructions of any pesticide manufacturer must be
adhered to prior to and when spraying.
• NOTE:Knapsack application of some chemicals (mostly Schedule7 Poisons, dangerous
poisons) is prohibited. Check the product label to conrm that the chemical application
by knapsack is permitted. Use the Swagman Sprayer with wheels if using Schedule 7
Poisons.
• Avoid any direct contact with pesticides. When spraying wear the necessary safety
equipment, i.e. masks, goggles, overalls,boots etc. When nished spraying wash your
face and hands thoroughly.
• Do not spray pesticides in enclosed environments. Greenhouses must be ventilated for
spraying to occur and after spraying people should not enter until the greenhouse has
been thoroughly ventilated.
• Pesticides must be prevented from entering sewer systems and natural water systems.
• Never allow children or those who are unfamiliar with using pesticides to handle the
agent.
• After use thoroughly ush and clean the tank and all parts that come into contact with
the agent.
TROUBLESHOOTING
Problem > Check following/action
The motor fails to start after being powered on > Low battery, loose cable, damaged switch / replace
Abnormal sound coming from the motor > Loose screws on pump / tighten
Leak at the bottom of the base > Check inlet/outlet connections / tighten
Poor atomization > Nozzle blocked, lters clogged/clean. Low battery/recharge. Air in pump / put
water in the tank and ush through.
NOTE:To access the pump and battery, open the tank base section by removing the holding
screws underneath the base of the tank.
