1. DownloadtheUSBDriver(Windows)forGD‐1201fromthefollowinglink:

2. BeforeinsertingtheGD‐1201intoUSBportofthecomputer,runtheUSBDriver
installationprogram.
3. InserttheGD‐1201DongleintotheUSBportofthetargetedcomputerdevice.
4. Identifywhich“COMport”wasoccupiedbytheGPSDonglefrom“DeviceManager”
of“ControlPanel”,andcheckifthedriverwasproperlyinstalled.









1. DownloadtheGPSViewer(Windows)applicationfromthefollowinglink:

2. InsertGD‐1201intoanUSBportofthetargetedcomputersystemandmakesurethe
GD‐1201hasdirectviewtotheopen‐skyandwithnoshelteraboveit.
3. Clickthe“GPSViewer”icontolaunchtheGPSViewer.
4. Setthe“BaudRate”fieldoftheGPSViewerto9600.
5. Setthe“COMPort”fieldoftheGPSViewertotheportnumberoccupiedbytheGPS
Dongle,pleasereferthe”step4”of“USBDriverInstallation”section.
6. Press“ ”buttontoconnecttotheGD‐1201andreceivingGPSdatato
targetedcomputersystem.
7. Undernormalopen‐skycondition,GPSpositionfixshouldoccurinaverageof45
seconds







1. InsertGD‐1201intothetargetsystemdevicethatyouwouldliketoapplyGPS
softwareandmakesureofnoshelteraboveGPSDongle.
2. ConfigureGPSparametersintheGPSsoftware.(Itvariesfromeachsoftware
interface;pleaserefertothemanualofmapsoftwareformoreinformation.)‐
PleasecheckwhichnumberofCOMPortwasoccupiedbyUSB‐to‐UARTBridgefrom
“DeviceManager”of“ControlPanel”andsetBaudrateas4800.
3. Whenthesettingiscomplete,yourGPSsoftwarewillreceiveGPSdataandyouare
abletoproceedwiththeoperationofGPSsoftware–navigation,searchingfor
point‐of‐interested,restaurants…‐aftercompletionofpositionfixing(within45
secondsonaverage).

Notesbeforeuse

1. AfterinsertingtheGD‐1201dongleintothesystemdevice,pleasenoticetheLEDof
theDongleflashing.IftheLEDisnotflashing,itismostlikelythattheremightbe
somethingwrongwiththeUSBdriver.Pleaseconfirminstallationorre‐installUSB
driver.
2. WhenoperatingtheGD‐1201dongleinsideanautomobile,ifyourautomobile
windshieldorcarwindowisfittedwithmetallicsunshieldingorscreen,themetallic
natureofthewindshieldinsulationmightadverselyaffectthesensitivityandfixing
timeoftheGD‐1201dongle.
3. TheGD‐1201dongleisbestusedintheopen‐skyenvironment.GPSsignalmay
becomeweakenedandGD‐1201mayfailtogetpositionfixedfromenvironmental
interferenceonthefollowingconditions:indoor,inanurbancanyonwithtall
buildings,insideoftunnel,underneathbridge,orinanareawithheavyfoliage.
LowGPSreceptionundertheseconditionsisnormalandshouldnotbeconsidered
asfailureoftheGD‐1201dongle.

ItispossibletoreceivenoGPSsignalorweaksignalintheseplacesandconditions:


Insideatunnel,GPS
signalisblocked.
Coversabove,GPS
signalisblocked.
Insideabuilding,GPS
signalisblocked.
Adjacentsome
building,GPSsignalis
weak ordisturbed.
Inaheavilyfoliage
area,GPSsignalis
weak ordisturbed.

4. WhentheGD‐1201dongleisconnectedtosomemodelsofnotebook/netbook
computer,weaksignalsituations,indicatedbyslowGPSfixtime.Thisisduetothe
EMIinterferenceemanatingfromsomemodelsofthenotebook/netbookcomputer.
Inthissituation,pleaseutilizetheUSBextensioncableincludedinthepackageto
ensuretheGD‐1201dongleissufficientlyapartfromtheEMIinterferenceand
receivesgoodGPSsignal.






























environmentalprotectionregulations.Youshouldreturnittoyour
resellerordisposeofitinanapprovedrecyclingcentre.

