1. Description
This appliance is only intended for cooling, ventilating
and dehumidifying indoor areas like living rooms or
bedrooms.
The appliance is intended for private use and not for
professional operation.
This appliance is intended for indoor use only.
Do not use the appliance for other purposes. Any
other use might lead to damage of the appliance or
personal injury.
NOTE: The content of this instruction manual applies
for all listed models. Design and appearance of your
model may vary from shown illustrations.

Battery safety instructions
1. Danger of explosion! Battery
may not be charged, reactivated
by other means, disassembled,
thrown into fire or short-circuited.
2. Do not expose battery to
extreme temperatures, like
direct sunlight or fire. Do not
place the remote control on any
heat source. Leaking battery
acid may cause harm.
3. If the battery should leak,
remove it with a cloth from
the battery compartment.
Dispose of battery according to
regulations. If battery acid has
leaked, avoid contact to skin,
eyes and mucous membranes.
Rinse affected areas
immediately after contact with
the acid and wash with plenty
of clean water. Visit a physician.
4. Caution! Danger of explosion if
battery is incorrectly replaced.
Replace battery only with the
same or equivalent type.
5. Always insert battery correctly
with regard to the polarities (+

Electrical safety
1. Ensure the rated voltage shown
on the rating label corresponds
with the voltage of the power
supply.
2. Do not operate any appliance
with a damaged power cord
or plug, when the appliance
malfunctions or has been
damaged in any manner.

damages. Do not let it hang
over sharp edges, do not
squeeze or bend it. Keep the
power cord away from hot
surfaces and open flames and

• The appliance shall be stored
in a room without continuously

operating electric heater).
• Do not pierce or burn.
• Be aware that refrigerants may
not contain an odour.
• Appliance shall be installed,
operated and stored in a room
with a floor area larger than
12 m2.
GENERAL INFORMATION
• Warning: Keep ventilation
openings clear of obstruction.
• Note: Servicing shall be
performed only as recommended
by the manufacturer.
• Warning: The appliance shall
be stored in a well-ventilated
area where the room size
corresponds to the room area
as specified for operation.
• Warning: The appliance
shall be stored in a room
without continuously operating
open flames (for example an
operating gas appliance) and
ignition sources (for example
an operating electric heater).
• The appliance shall be stored
so as to prevent mechanical
damage from occurring.
• Any person who is involved with
working on or breaking into a
refrigerant circuit should hold a
current valid certificate from an
industry-accredited assessment
and -) marked on the battery
and the battery compartment.
6. Do not allow children to replace
the battery without adult
supervision.
7. Keep batteries out of reach of
children and pets.
8. Exhausted batteries should be
immediately removed from the
remote control and properly
disposed of.
9. Remove the battery if you will
not be using the appliance for
an extended period of time.
10. Batteries shall be stored in
well-ventilated, dry and cool
conditions.
11. Chemical burn hazard! Do not
ingest the battery. If the battery
is swallowed, it can cause
severe internal burns in just 2
hours and can lead to death. If
you think batteries might have
been swallowed or placed
inside any part of the body, seek
immediate medical attention.
12. If the battery compartment
cover does not close securely,
stop using the remote control
and keep it away from children.
Special instructions for
flammable refrigerants

accelerate the defrosting
process or to clean, other than
those recommended by the
manufacturer.

5. Connect the back attachment to the back air
outlet by turning the attachment clockwise.
6. Fit the flat front attachment into the opening of
the window slider kit.
• Installation in walls:
1. Make a hole into the wall according to the size of
the wall exhaust cap. Place the hole in a height
between 30cm and 120cm.
2. Insert the wall exhaust cap into the hole in the
wall.
3. Connect the exhaust duct with its back
attachment and the round front attachment.
4. Connect the back attachment to the back air
outlet by turning the attachment clockwise.
5. Open the wall exhaust cap in the wall. Fit the
round front attachment into the open cap.
6. If you don’t use the appliance, detach the exhaust
duct with its attachments. Close the hole with the
wall exhaust cap.
• Without installation:
1. Connect the exhaust duct with its back
attachment and the flat front attachment.
2. Connect the back attachment to the back air
outlet by turning the attachment clockwise.
3. Open a window slightly.
4. Fit the flat front attachment into the window
opening.
For dehumidifying mode:
1. Screw off the cover of the drain outlet. Then
remove the plug from inside the drain outlet.
2. Attach the drain hose to the drain outlet. Make
sure it sits tightly.
3. Direct the other end of the drain hose into a
vessel to catch the water. Make sure not to
bend the hose excessively and always direct it
downwards.
4. Operation
NOTE: The buttons on the remote control can be
used exactly as the buttons on the appliance.
NOTE: During operation, the compressor is switched
on and off automatically in order to maintain the set
temperature.

3. Before use
• Clean the appliance ( After use). Let it dry
completely.
• Place the appliance on a firm, level and stable
surface. Allow at least 50 cm of space to walls
or other objects.
• For fan mode, no installation is required. The
appliance can be used as is.
For air conditioning/heating/dehumidifying mode:
NOTE: The exhaust duct can be extended (27cm -
150cm) by pulling its two sides apart, if necessary.
Do not stretch or bend it excessively, as this will
affect cooling efficiency.
• Installation in horizontal/vertical sliding
windows:
NOTE: The window slider kit has been designed to fit
most vertical and horizontal sliding windows. It may
be necessary for you to modify some aspects of the
installation procedure for certain window types.
1. Fit the window slider kit between the window
frame and the sliding window.
2. Adjust the length of the window slider kit
according to the width/height of the window (67.5
- 120 cm). When you have found the right length,
tighten the two screws on the kit to keep the
length in place.
3. Carefully lower/close the sliding window to keep
the slider kit in place.
Optional: Secure the slider kit with four screws
from the provided screw set.
4. Connect the exhaust duct with its back
attachment and the flat front attachment.

Sleep mode button (only for
air conditioning and heating

Press to switch into sleep
mode. The sleep mode
indicator will light up. Appliance
will now operate for 8 hours
and switch itself off afterwards.
Swing mode button (only for
model MAC3540C)
Press so that air outlet cover
moves up and down. The
swing mode indicator lights up.
Note: Swing mode button is
not available on remote control.
Timer button
Press to enter timer selection.
The timer indicator will light up.
When timer is set, appliance
turns itself off after set time has
passed.
Note: Press button during
operation to check remaining
time. To cancel timer, press
button again or set timer to 0.
Filter reset button
Clean filters when light on
button lights up. Make sure to
press button after cleaning.
5. After use
• WARNING! Before cleaning, turn off and
unplug the appliance. Wait for 5 minutes after
unplugging the appliance, otherwise there is a
risk of electric shock!
• Do not clean the appliance with any strong
chemicals, alkali, abrasive or disinfecting
agents, as they may damage the surface of the
appliance.
• Do not immerse the appliance in water or other
liquids to clean it. Never hold the appliance
under running water. Make sure that no water
enters the appliance while cleaning it.
• Clean the surfaces of the appliance with a
soft damp cloth and, if necessary, a little mild
detergent. Wipe with a dry and soft cloth.
• Clean the filters with a small, soft brush or the
nozzle of a vacuum cleaner. If the filters are
very dirty, they may also be cleaned with warm
water and mild detergent. Let them air dry
completely afterwards.
• To clean the upper air filter, pull it up out of the
appliance. Reinstall it after cleaning.
• To clean the lower air filter, loosen the screw on
its cover and remove the cover. Then carefully

pull out the filter from the cover. After cleaning,
reinstall it in its cover and reattach the cover to
the appliance.
• If the display shows “P1” or if you don’t want to
use the appliance for a longer time, drain the
water from the bottom outlet. For this, open the
outlet, tilt the appliance a little and let the water
run out. Afterwards, close the outlet, restart
the appliance and wait until the “P1” indicator
disappears from the display.
• The appliance may only be used again or stored
after it is dried completely.

8. Special instructions for
flammable refrigerants
INFORMATION ON SERVICING
Checks to the area
Prior to beginning work on systems containing
flammable refrigerants, safety checks are necessary
to ensure that the risk of ignition is minimised. For
repair to the refrigerating system, the following
precautions shall be complied with prior to
conducting work on the system.
Work procedure
Work shall be undertaken under a controlled
procedure so as to minimise the risk of a flammable
gas or vapour being present while the work is being
performed.
General work area
All maintenance staff and others working in the
local area shall be instructed on the nature of work
being carried out. Work in confined spaces shall be
avoided. The area around the workspace shall be
sectioned off. Ensure that the conditions within the
area have been made safe by control of flammable
material.
Checking for presence of refrigerant
The area shall be checked with an appropriate
refrigerant detector prior to and during work,
to ensure the technician is aware of potentially
flammable atmospheres. Ensure that the leak
detection equipment being used is suitable for

NOTE: Refrigerant leakage contributes to climate
change. Refrigerant with lower global warming
potential (GWP) would contribute less to global
warming than a refrigerant with higher GWP, if
leaked to the atmosphere. This appliance contains a
refrigerant fluid with a GWP equal to [3]. This means
that if 1 kg of this refrigerant fluid would be leaked to
the atmosphere, the impact on global warming would
be [3] times higher than 1 kg of CO2 , over a period
of 100 years. Never try to interfere with the refrigerant
circuit yourself or disassemble the product yourself
and always ask a professional.

components are constructed of materials which
are inherently resistant to being corroded or are
suitably protected against being so corroded.
Checks to electrical devices
Repair and maintenance to electrical components
shall include initial safety checks and component
inspection procedures. If a fault exists that could
compromise safety, then no electrical supply shall be
connected to the circuit until it is satisfactorily dealt
with. If the fault cannot be corrected immediately but
it is necessary to continue operation, an adequate
temporary solution shall be used. This shall be
reported to the owner of the equipment so all parties
are advised.
Initial safety checks shall include:
• that capacitors are discharged: this shall be
done in a safe manner to avoid possibility of
sparking;
• that there no live electrical components and
wiring are exposed while charging, recovering
or purging the system;
• that there is continuity of earth bonding.
REPAIRS TO SEALED COMPONENTS
During repairs to sealed components, all electrical
supplies shall be disconnected from the equipment
being worked upon prior to any removal of sealed
covers, etc. If it is absolutely necessary to have an
electrical supply to equipment during servicing, then
a permanently operating form of leak detection shall
be located at the most critical point to warn of a
potentially hazardous situation.
Particular attention shall be paid to the following to
ensure that by working on electrical components, the
casing is not altered in such a way that the level of
protection is affected. This shall include damage to
cables, excessive number of connections, terminals
not made to original specification, damage to seals,
incorrect fitting of glands, etc.
Ensure that apparatus is mounted securely.
Ensure that seals or sealing materials have not
degraded such that they no longer serve the purpose
of preventing the ingress of flammable atmospheres.
Replacement parts shall be in accordance with the
manufacturer’s specifications.
NOTE: The use of silicon sealant may inhibit the
effectiveness of some types of leak detection
equipment. Intrinsically safe components do not have
to be isolated prior to working on them.
REPAIR TO INTRINSICALLY SAFE COMPONENTS
Do not apply any permanent inductive or capacitance
loads to the circuit without ensuring that this will not
use with flammable refrigerants, i.e. non-sparking,
adequately sealed or intrinsically safe.
Presence of fire extinguisher
If any hot work is to be conducted on the refrigeration
equipment or any associated parts, appropriate fire
extinguishing equipment shall be available to hand.
Have a dry powder or CO2 fire extinguisher adjacent
to the charging area.
No ignition sources
No person carrying out work in relation to a
refrigeration system which involves exposing any
pipe work that contains or has contained flammable
refrigerant shall use any sources of ignition in
such a manner that it may lead to the risk of fire or
explosion. All possible ignition sources, including
cigarette smoking, should be kept sufficiently far
away from the site of installation, repairing, removing
and disposal, during which flammable refrigerant can
possibly be released to the surrounding space. Prior
to work taking place, the area around the equipment
is to be surveyed to make sure that there are no
flammable hazards or ignition risks. “No Smoking”
signs shall be displayed.
Ventilated area
Ensure that the area is in the open or that it is
adequately ventilated before breaking into the system
or conducting any hot work. A degree of ventilation
shall continue during the period that the work is
carried out. The ventilation should safely disperse
any released refrigerant and preferably expel it
externally into the atmosphere.
Checks to the refrigeration equipment
Where electrical components are being changed,
they shall be fit for the purpose and to the correct
specification. At all times the manufacturer’s
maintenance and service guidelines shall be
followed. If in doubt consult the manufacturer’s
technical department for assistance.
The following checks shall be applied to installations
using flammable refrigerants:
• The charge size is in accordance with the room
size within which the refrigerant containing parts
are installed;
• The ventilation machinery and outlets are
operating adequately and are not obstructed;
• If an indirect refrigerating circuit is being used,
the secondary circuit shall be checked for the
presence of refrigerant;
• Marking to the equipment continues to be
visible and legible. Markings and signs that are
illegible shall be corrected;
• Refrigeration pipe or components are installed
in a position where they are unlikely to be
exposed to any substance which may corrode
refrigerant containing components, unless the

REMOVAL AND EVACUATION
When breaking into the refrigerant circuit to make
repairs – or for any other purpose – conventional
procedures shall be used. However, it is important
that best practice is followed since flammability is
a consideration. The following procedure shall be
adhered to:
• Remove refrigerant;
• Purge the circuit with inert gas;
• Evacuate;
• Purge again with inert gas;
• Open the circuit by cutting or brazing.
The refrigerant charge shall be recovered into the
correct recovery cylinders. The system shall be
“flushed” with OFN to render the unit safe. This
process may need to be repeated several times.
Compressed air or oxygen shall not be used for this
task.
Flushing shall be achieved by breaking the vacuum
in the system with OFN and continuing to fill until
the working pressure is achieved, then venting to
atmosphere, and finally pulling down to a vacuum.
This process shall be repeated until no refrigerant
is within the system. When the final OFN charge
is used, the system shall be vented down to
atmospheric pressure to enable work to take place.
This operation is absolutely vital if brazing operations
on the pipework are to take place.
Ensure that the outlet for the vacuum pump is not
close to any ignition sources and there is ventilation
available.
CHARGING PROCEDURES
In addition to conventional charging procedures, the
following requirements shall be followed.
• Ensure that contamination of different
refrigerants does not occur when using charging
equipment. Hoses or lines shall be as short as
possible to minimise the amount of refrigerant
contained in them.
• Cylinders shall be kept upright.
• Ensure that the refrigeration system is earthed
prior to charging the system with refrigerant.
• Label the system when charging is complete (if
not already).
• Extreme care shall be taken not to overfill the
refrigeration system.
Prior to recharging the system it shall be pressure
tested with OFN. The system shall be leak tested on
completion of charging but prior to commissioning. A
follow up leak test shall be carried out prior to leaving
the site.

for the equipment in use.
Intrinsically safe components are the only types that
can be worked on while live in the presence of a
flammable atmosphere. The test apparatus shall be
at the correct rating.
Replace components only with parts specified by the
manufacturer. Other parts may result in the ignition of
refrigerant in the atmosphere from a leak.
CABLING
Check that cabling will not be subject to wear,
corrosion, excessive pressure, vibration, sharp
edges or any other adverse environmental effects.
The check shall also take into account the effects
of aging or continual vibration from sources such as
compressors or fans.
DETECTION OF FLAMMABLE REFRIGERANTS
Under no circumstances shall potential sources of
ignition be used in the searching for or detection of
refrigerant leaks. A halide torch (or any other detector
using a naked flame) shall not be used.
LEAK DETECTION METHODS
The following leak detection methods are deemed
acceptable for systems containing flammable
refrigerants.
Electronic leak detectors shall be used to detect
flammable refrigerants, but the sensitivity may not
be adequate, or may need re-calibration. (Detection
equipment shall be calibrated in a refrigerant-free
area.) Ensure that the detector is not a potential
source of ignition and is suitable for the refrigerant
used. Leak detection equipment shall be set at a
percentage of the LFL of the refrigerant and shall
be calibrated to the refrigerant employed and the
appropriate percentage of gas (25 % maximum) is
confirmed.
Leak detection fluids are suitable for use with most
refrigerants but the use of detergents containing
chlorine shall be avoided as the chlorine may react
with the refrigerant and corrode the copper pipe-
work.
If a leak is suspected, all naked flames shall be
removed/extinguished.
If a leakage of refrigerant is found which requires
brazing, all of the refrigerant shall be recovered from
the system, or isolated (by means of shut off valves)
in a part of the system remote from the leak. Oxygen
free nitrogen (OFN) shall then be purged through the
system both before and during the brazing process.

RECOVERY
When removing refrigerant from a system, either for
servicing or decommissioning, it is recommended
good practice that all refrigerants are removed safely.
When transferring refrigerant into cylinders, ensure
that only appropriate refrigerant recovery cylinders
are employed. Ensure that the correct number of
cylinders for holding the total system charge are
available. All cylinders to be used are designated
for the recovered refrigerant and labelled for that
refrigerant (i.e. special cylinders for the recovery
of refrigerant). Cylinders shall be complete with
pressure relief valve and associated shut-off valves
in good working order. Empty recovery cylinders are
evacuated and, if possible, cooled before recovery
occurs.
The recovery equipment shall be in good working
order with a set of instructions concerning the
equipment that is at hand and shall be suitable for
the recovery of flammable refrigerants. In addition, a
set of calibrated weighing scales shall be available
and in good working order. Hoses shall be complete
with leak-free disconnect couplings and in good
condition. Before using the recovery machine,
check that it is in satisfactory working order, has
been properly maintained and that any associated
electrical components are sealed to prevent ignition
in the event of a refrigerant release. Consult
manufacturer if in doubt.
The recovered refrigerant shall be returned to the
refrigerant supplier in the correct recovery cylinder,
and the relevant Waste Transfer Note arranged. Do
not mix refrigerants in recovery units and especially
not in cylinders.
If compressors or compressor oils are to be
removed, ensure that they have been evacuated to
an acceptable level to make certain that flammable
refrigerant does not remain within the lubricant.
The evacuation process shall be carried out prior
to returning the compressor to the suppliers. Only
electric heating to the compressor body shall be
employed to accelerate this process. When oil is
drained from a system, it shall be carried out safely.
DECOMMISSIONING
Before carrying out this procedure, it is essential
that the technician is completely familiar with the
equipment and all its detail. It is recommended
good practice that all refrigerants are recovered
safely. Prior to the task being carried out, an oil and
refrigerant sample shall be taken in case analysis is
required prior to re-use of reclaimed refrigerant. It is
essential that electrical power is available before the
task is commenced.
a. Become familiar with the equipment and its
operation.
b. Isolate system electrically.
c. Before attempting the procedure ensure that:
• mechanical handling equipment is available, if
required, for handling refrigerant cylinders;
• all personal protective equipment is available
and being used correctly;
• the recovery process is supervised at all
times by a competent person;
• recovery equipment and cylinders conform to
the appropriate standards.
d. Pump down refrigerant system, if possible.
e. If a vacuum is not possible, make a manifold so
that refrigerant can be removed from various
parts of the system.
f. Make sure that cylinder is situated on the scales
before recovery takes place.
g. Start the recovery machine and operate in
accordance with manufacturer’s instructions.
h. Do not overfill cylinders. (No more than 80 %
volume liquid charge).
i. Do not exceed the maximum working pressure of
the cylinder, even temporarily.
j. When the cylinders have been filled correctly
and the process completed, make sure that the
cylinders and the equipment are removed from
site promptly and all isolation valves on the
equipment are closed off.
k. Recovered refrigerant shall not be charged into
another refrigeration system unless it has been
cleaned and checked.
LABELLING
Equipment shall be labelled stating that it has been
de-commissioned and emptied of refrigerant. The
label shall be dated and signed. Ensure that there
are labels on the equipment stating the equipment
contains flammable refrigerant.

bei ausgelaufener Batteriesäure
den Kontakt mit Haut, Augen
und Schleimhäuten. Spülen Sie
bei Kontakt mit der Säure die
betroffenen Stellen sofort mit
reichlich klarem Wasser ab und
suchen Sie umgehend einen
Arzt auf.
4. Achtung! Explosionsgefahr bei
falsch eingesetzter Batterie. Nur
mit dem gleichen oder ähnlichen
Batterietyp austauschen.
5. Legen Sie die Batterie stets mit
der richtigen Polarität (+ und -)
ein, die auf der Batterie und im
Batteriefach markiert ist.
6. Erlauben Sie Kindern nicht, die
Batterie ohne Aufsicht eines
Erwachsenen zu wechseln.
7. Bewahren Sie Batterien
außerhalb der Reichweite von
Kindern und Haustieren auf.
8. Entfernen Sie verbrauchte
Batterien sofort aus
der Fernbedienung und
entsorgen Sie die Batterie
bestimmungsgemäß.

3. Vor dem Gebrauch

cm Platz zu Wänden oder anderen Objekten.
• Für den Lüftermodus ist keine Installation
erforderlich. Das Gerät kann sofort nach dem
Aufstellen verwendet werden.
Für Kühl-, Heiz- und Entfeuchtungsmodus:
HINWEIS: Die Abluftleitung kann, falls nötig, verlängert
werden (27cm - 150cm), indem Sie sie an den Seiten
auseinanderziehen. Ziehen oder knicken Sie sie nicht
übermäßig, da dies die Kühleffizienz beeinträchtigt.
• Installation in horizontalen/vertikalen
Schiebefenstern:
HINWEIS: Das Fenster-Schiebeset ist so entworfen,
dass es in die meisten vertikalen und horizontalen
Schiebefenster passt. Es ist möglicherweise
notwendig, einige Aspekte des Installationsprozesses
an bestimmte Fenstertypen anzupassen.
1. Setzen Sie das Fenster-Schiebeset zwischen den
Fensterrahmen und das Schiebefenster.
2. Passen Sie die Länge des Fenster-Schiebesets
auf die Breite/Höhe Ihres Fensters an

3. Senken/schließen Sie vorsichtig das
Schiebefenster, um das Fenster-Schiebeset
festzusetzen.
Optional: Sichern Sie das Fenster-Schiebeset
mit vier Schrauben aus dem mitgelieferten
Schraubenset.
4. Verbinden Sie die Abluftleitung mit dem hinteren
Aufsatz und dem flachen vorderen Aufsatz.
5. Verbinden Sie den hinteren Aufsatz mit dem
hinteren Luftauslass, indem Sie den Aufsatz im
Uhrzeigersinn drehen.
6. Setzen Sie den flachen vorderen Aufsatz in die
Öffnung des Fenster-Schiebesets ein.
• Denken Sie daran, dass
Kältemittel geruchslos ist.
• Das Gerät darf nur in Räumen
betrieben werden, die größer
als 12 m2 sind.
