equipmentor checking operation ofthesystem, besuretoconnectthetuner/amplifierand sound

processor withit.

check. Whenoperating itas asingleequipmentwithoutthetuner/amplifierand sound processor,
refertotheparagraph of"Measurementsand Adjustments.

Thelaserdiodeinthetraverse deck (optical pickup)may break downduetopotential difference
causedbystaticelectricityofclothes or humanbody.So, becareful ofelectrostaticbreakdown
during repairofthetraverse deck (optical pickup).
4.1. Handling oftraverse deck (optical pickup)
1. Donotgiveconsiderableshock tothetraverse unit(optical
pickup)as ithas anextremelyhigh-precise structure.
2. Whenreplacing theoptical pickup, install theflexiblecableand cut
its shortland withanipper. See theoptical pickup replacement
procedureinthisTechnical Guide. Beforereplacing thetraverse
unit, removetheshortpinforpreventingstaticelectricityandinstall

anew unit. Connect theconnectoras shorttimeas possible.
3. Theflexiblecablemaybecutoff ifanexcessiveforce isappliedto
it. Use caution whenhandling thecable.
4. Thehalf-fixedresistorforlaserpoweradjustmentcannotbe
adjusted. Donotturntheresistor.

4.3. Grounding forelectrostaticbreakdownprevention
1. Humanbodygrounding
Use theanti-staticwrist straptodischargethestaticelectricity
fromyourbody. (AsshowninFig. 3.)
2. Worktablegrounding
Putaconductivematerial (sheet) orsteel sheet on thearea where
theoptical pickup isplaced, and ground thesheet.
Caution:
Thestaticelectricityofyourclothes will notbegroundedthrough
thewrist strap. So, take carenottolet yourclothes touchthe
traverse deck (optical pickup).
