Unpacking
Carefullyunpacktheunit.Ifitisdamaged,please

thirdpartymakesureyoupassonthehandbook.We

Operation
Placetheunitondrystablesurfaceawayfrom
heatanddampandwhereitisunlikelytofallorbe
knockedover.Thehandleshouldbestowedduring
normaloperation.
Whenmovingtheunitalwaysusethehandle.
Mains Operation
• Checkthatthemainsvoltageontheratingplateis
thesameasthevoltageinyourarea.
• SettheFUNCTIONSELECTORtoTAPE(OFF).
• UncoiltheACpowercordfully.
• Plugthecordintotheunitandthenplugthemains
plugintothewallsocketandswitchthemains
poweron.Theunitisnowreadyforuse.
Battery Operation
• SettheFUNCTIONSELECTORtothe'OFF’
position.
• Switchthepoweroffatthemainsandunplugthe
powercordfromthemainsandtheunit.
• Inverttheunit.Slidethebatterycompartment
coverforwardandcarefullyliftoffthecover.
• Place8'C'Size(R14)orequivalentbatteries
inthebatterycompartment.Thecorrectbattery
positionsareindicatedinsidethecompartment.
• Replacethecover.Yourunitisnowreadyforuse.
NOTE: Iftheunitisnotgoingtobeusedforsome
timeorisbeingrunACpower,removethebatteries.
Alwaysreplacebatteriesingoodtime.Batteries
shouldbereplacedinfullsetsandallbatteriesshould
beofthesametypeandrating. Nevermixnewand
partusedbatteries.
Handlebatterieswithcare.Donotshortbatteriesout
withmetalobjects.
Donotleavebatterieslyingaroundorexposedtore
orwater.
Whendisposingofbatteriesdonotthrowthemin
thegeneralrubbish,areorinwater.Disposeof
theminfullaccordwithrecyclingregulationsthatare

• SelectthestationusingtheTUNINGKNOB.The
TUNINGSCALEwillindicatethetunedfrequency.
• Rotatetheantennaforbestsignalquality.
UnlessyouarelisteningtoanFMprogrammewe
suggestthattheantennaisinthestowedposition.
Stereo Or Mono?
Stereooffersbetterquality,butinabadsignalarea,it
maybenoisy.TosettheRadiotoMonoandreduce
backgroundnoise:
• MovetheBANDswitchtoFM.
AM Reception
• SettheFUNCTIONSELECTORtoRADIO.
• SettheBANDswitchto‘AM’.
• SelectthestationusingtheTUNINGKNOB.
• Rotatetheunitforthebestsignalquality.
AMisliabletointerferencefrommainsappliances,

ADJUSTING THE VOLUME
Toincreasethevolume–Rotatethevolumeknob
clockwise.
Todecreasethevolume–Rotatethevolumeknob
anticlockwise.
Important Note:Alwaysrefrainfromturningthe
volumeknobtoveryloudsettings,especiallyon
CD,asthedistortionisunpleasanttolistentoandin
extremecasescoulddamagetheloudspeakersor
yourhearing.
USING THE CD PLAYER
Preliminaries
• SettheFUNCTIONSWITCHto‘CD’.
• OpentheCDdoorwiththengerliftattheright
handsideofthedoor.
• Beforerstuse,removetheprotectivecardfrom
theCDcompartment.
• PlaceaCD(labelup)onthecentralspindle.
• PressgentlytosecuretheCDinplace.
• ClosetheCDdoor.
Thediscwillspinbrieyandthen
stop.Thedisplayindicatesthenumber
oftracksonthedisc.
To Play A CD
• PressthePLAY/PAUSEbutton .
• ThediscwillplayfromTrack1andthePlayicon
willlightup.
To Pause A CD While Playing
• PressthePLAY/PAUSE button.
• Thediscwillpause.InPausemode
thesoundmutesandthedisplay
ashes.
• PressPLAY/PAUSE againtoresumeplay.
To Stop A CD While Playing
• PresstheSTOP button.Theplay
iconextinguishes.
To Play A CD From A Selected Track
• InserttheCD.
• PressSKIP or ,repeatedlytoselectthe
track.
• PressPLAY/PAUSE toplayfromthetrack.
To Change Tracks During Play
• PressSKIP or repeatedly,
toselectandthenplayfromthe
desiredtrack.
To Go Back To The Start Of A Track During Play
• PressSKIP once.
To Search For A Particular Passage During Play
• PressandholdSKIP or untilthedesired
passageislocated.Duringthesearchthesound
isplayedfasterthannormalandatareduced
volume.
• PlayreturnstonormalwhenSKIP or is
released.
Repeating A Track Or A

Recording From The Radio

thestation.
• Loadacassettewiththetapesideup.Closethe
door.
• PressRECORD andPLAY togethertostart
recording.

nished.
Recording From A CD
• SettheFUNCTIONselectortoCD.
• Loadacassettewiththetapesideup.Closethe
door.
• PressPAUSE andthenpressRECORD.
The cassette tape is now in STANDBY mode
• StarttheCDplayerandpressPAUSE onthe
Cassette.
• TheCassettewillstartrecordingtheCD.
To Stop Recording
• PressSTOP/EJECT tostopthecassette

edges.Donottouchtheplaying
surface.
Never use force.
Cassette Topics
ThisdeckisnotsuitableforrecordingonCHROME
(IECII)orMETAL(IECIV)typecassettes.For
recording,useNORMALcassettes(IECI)onwhich
thetabshavenotbeenbroken.Toprotectatapefrom
accidentalerasure,havethetapeinfrontofyouand
breakoutthelefttab.
Torecordoverthissideagain,coverthetabwitha
pieceofadhesivetape.
CARE AND CLEANING
After Using The Player
• SwitchtheFUNCTIONSWITCHtoTAPE(OFF).
• Switchtheunitoffatthemainsandunplugitfor
greatersafety.
Care And Cleaning
Allcareandcleaningoperationsshouldbecarried
outwiththeunitunpluggedfromthemainspower.
Thesurfaceoftheunitcanbecleanedwithabarely
dampclothandthendriedcarefully.Neveruse
abrasives,abrasiveclothsorchemicalsolvents.
Do notcleantheinsideoftheCDplayerwithacloth.
Lightlyblowoutanydust.
IfyourCDsdon’tplayproperly,thisislikelytobe
causedbysurfacedamageordirtontheCD.Ifthe
CDlensgetsdirty,useaproprietarylenscleanerand
followtheinstructionscarefully.IfyoukeeptheCD
doorclosedatalltimeswhentheunitisnotinuse,the
lensisextremelyunlikelytogetdirty.
Suddenchangesinthesurroundingtemperaturecan
causecondensationtoformonthelensofyourCD
player.PlayingaCDisthennotpossible.Donot
attempttocleanthelensbutleavethesetinawarm
environmentuntilthemoistureevaporates.
Cleanthecassetteplayerheadsatregularintervals
andbeforerecordingwithagoodqualityproprietary
headcleaningkitorheadcleaningtape.Ifyour
recordingssounddull,thiscouldbeanindication
thatthetaperecordingheadsneedcleaning.If,after
cleaning,therecordingsstillsounddull,useade-
magnetiserobtainablefromRadioandTVaccessory
storesandfollowtheinstructionscarefully.
