3 SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
3.6LEAVINGTHEDRIVINGPOSITION
• Parkthemachineonlevelground.
• Beforeleavingthedrivingposition,stopthe
engineandmakesure allmoving partsare
stationary. Apply brakes and disengage all
drives.Removethestarterkey.
3.7SLOPES
TAKEEXTRACAREWHENWORKINGON
SLOPES
• Localundulationsandsinkage willchange
thegeneralslope.Avoidgroundconditions
which can cause the machine to slide.
• Keep machine speeds low on slopes and
duringtight turns.
• Suddendeceleratingorbrakingcancause
the rear wheels to lift. Remember there is
no such thing as a “safe” slope.
• Travelongrassslopesrequiresparticular
care.
DONOTUSEONSLOPESGREATERTHAN15°
IMPORTANT: When working on any slope set the
weight transfer, if fitted to its maximum (+) setting.
3.8BLOCKEDCUTTINGCYLINDERS
• Stopthe engineand makesure allmoving
partsare stationary.
• Applybrakesanddisengagealldrives.
• Release blockages with care. Keep all parts
of the body away from the cutting edge.
Bewareofenergyinthedrivewhichcan
causerotationwhen theblockage is released.
• Keepotherpeople awayfrom the cuttingunits
as rotation of one cylinder can cause the
others to rotate.
3.9ADJUSTMENTS,LUBRICATIONAND
MAINTENANCE
All vehicles
• Stopthe engineand makesure allmoving
partsare stationary.
• Applybrakesanddisengagealldrives.
• Readalltheappropriateservicinginstructions.
• Use only the replacement parts supplied by
theoriginalmanufacturer.
• When adjusting the cutting cylinders take
carenot toget handsand feettrapped when
rotatingcylinders.
• Makesure that otherpeople arenot touching
any cutting units, as rotation of one cylinder
can cause the others to rotate.
• Toreducethefire hazard,keep theengine,
silencerandbatterycompartmentsfreeof
grass,leavesorexcessivegrease.
• Replacewornordamagedpartsforsafety.
• Whenworkingunderneathliftedpartsor
machines,makesureadequate supportIs
provided.
• Do not dismantle the machine without
releasingorrestrainingforceswhichcan
causeparts tomove suddenly.
• Donotalterenginespeedabovemaximum
quoted in Engine Specification. Do not
changetheenginegovernorsettingsor
overspeedtheengine. Operatingtheengine
at excessive speed may increase the hazard
ofpersonalinjury.
• Whenservicingbatteries,DONOT SMOKE,
and keep naked lights away.
• Do not place any metal objects across the
terminals.
Diesel & Petrol vehicles
• Whenrefuelling,STOPTHEENGINE,DO
NOTSMOKE.Add fuelbeforestartingthe
engine,neveraddfuelwhiletheengineis
running.
• Useafunnelwhen pouringfuelfrom acaninto
the tank.
• Do not fill the fuel tank beyond the bottom of
the filler neck.
• Replace all fuel tank and container caps
securely.
• Storefuel incontainersspecifically designed
forthispurpose.
• Refueloutdoors onlyand donot smokewhile
refuelling.
• If fuel is spilled, do not attempt to start the
enginebutmovethemachineawayfromthe
areaofspillageandavoidcreatinganysource
ofignitionuntilfuelvapourshavedissipated.
• Allow the engine to cool before storing in any
enclosure.
• Neverstoretheequipment withfuel inthe
tankinside a buildingwhere fumesmay reach
anopen flameorspark.
• If the fuel tank has to be drained, this should
bedoneoutdoors.
• Do not spill fuel onto hot components.
LPG vehicles
• Only trained & competent personnel in the
useof LPG asa roadvehicle fuelare
allowed to work on LPG aspects of the
vehiclesengineorfuel system.
• Whenrefuelling,STOPTHEENGINE,DO
NOTSMOKE.Add fuelbeforestartingthe
engine,neveraddfuelwhiletheengineis
running.
• Vehicles should not be parked within 3
metersofany heatsource, open flameor
othersourcesof ignition.
• Vehiclesshouldnotbeservicedoveran
inspection pit
