Safety Instructions
Always read the safety instructions carefully:
Do not disassemble, modify, tamper with or repair your product
■When handling the power cable/cord, follow these precautions:
■Never tamper with the power cable/cord or plug.
■Never splice or alter a power cable/cord.
■Never bend or twist a power cable/cord.
■Never pull on a power cable/cord to remove a plug from a socket. Always grasp the plug directly.
■Never place heavy objects on a power cable/cord.
■Never run a power cable/cord through a pinch point such as a door or window.
■Never place a power cable/cord near a heat source.
■Never use nails, staples or similar objects to fasten or attach cable/cord in place.
■Never attempt to disassemble or repair an AC adaptor.
Doing any of the above may damage the cables, and/or result in a fire or electric shock, possibly
resulting in serious injury.
Attaching the power cable/cord
■Always confirm that the power plug (and extension cable plug if used) has been fully inserted into the
socket, to ensure a secure electrical connection. Failure to do so may result in a fire or electric shock,
possibly resulting in serious injury.
■Be careful if you use a power strip. An overload on one socket could cause a fire or electric shock,
possibly resulting in serious injury.
Dust on the power plug connectors or connector base
■If dust gets on the power plug connectors or connector base, turn the power off and disconnect the
power plug. Then clean the connector and/or connector base with a dry cloth. Continuing to use the
product without cleaning the power plug may result in a fire or an electric shock, possibly resulting in
serious injury.
Only use TOSHIBA AC adaptor
Use correct power source
Only use approved power cables/cords
Do not handle the power plug with wet hands
Choking hazards
■Never leave small parts such as covers, caps and screws within the reach of infants or small
children. Swallowing a small part may cause choking and suffocation resulting in death or serious
injury. If a part is swallowed, immediately take appropriate emergency action and consult a doctor.
Avoid liquids, moisture and foreign objects
Never place your product or AC adaptor on a heat sensitive surface
Never place your product in locations with excess heat
Never place your product in a location with extremely low temperatures
Never subject your product to sudden temperature variations

Working Environment
The Electromagnetic Compliance (EMC) of this product has been verified typically for this product
category for a so called Residential, Commercial & Light Industry Environment. Any other working
environment has not been verified by Toshiba and the use of this product in these working environments

This section identifies the various components of your port replicator.
Front view
The following illustration shows the front of the Toshiba Hi-Speed Port Replicator II. For a description of
each component, please refer to the accompanying table.

Component Description
Power button Turns the docked computer on.
Note: Pressing the power button has no effect if a computer is not
connected to the port replicator.
Computer connector Connects to the computer’s expansion port.
Docked light Glows green during normal operation. Turns off when the computer
completes its disconnect sequence. When the Docked light turns off,
it is safe to disconnect the computer.
Eject button Begins the computer’s disconnect sequence.
Note: Once the Eject button is pressed and the Docked light turns
off, the computer cannot communicate with external devices
connected to the port replicator. Undock and re-dock the computer
to reestablish communication.
Eject lever Disengages the computer from the port replicator.
Note 1: Please refer to “Undocking your computer” Section to learn
how to disconnect your computer from the port replicator properly.
Note 2: When the Port Replicator lock switch is in the locked
position, the Eject lever cannot be operated. For more information
on the Port Replicator lock switch, see “Securing your port
replicator” section for details.

When your computer is docked in the port replicator, the following ports on the computer, if present,
are not operational:
■Network port
■Monitor ports (RGB)
■Audio ports (Microphone jack or Headphone/Line out)
If you want to use the docked computer’s audio ports, you can enable them as shown in “configuring
audio ports” section. Otherwise, use the ports on the port replicator instead.
Component Description
Microphone jack A standard 3.5 mm mini jack for mono audio input from a microphone.
Line out
(Headphones,

A standard 3.5 mm mini jack for audio output to speakers,
a headphone or headset, or other audio out devices.
LAN active light Glows orange when the computer is exchanging data with the
network.
Network port Connection point for a network cable.
Supports:
*Ethernet (10 megabits per second, 10BASE-T)
*Fast Ethernet (100 megabits per second, 100BASE-T)
*Gigabit Ethernet (1000 megabits per second, 1000BASE-T)
Note: Gigabit Ethernet support is only available if your computer
model also supports it.

LAN connected light Glows green to indicate the computer is connected to a LAN hub.
RGB monitor port Connection point for an analog VGA monitor.
HDMI out port HDMI out port can connect with Type A connector HDMI cable, or a
DVI monitor with use of the included HDMI to DVI cable.
HDMI cable can send video and audio signals. In addition to this,
it can send and receive control signals.
Some models are equipped with a HDMI out port.
DisplayPort One DisplayPort is provided on your port replicator.
Note: HDMI port and DisplayPort can not be used at the same time.
You can move the slider of your port replicator to choose either HDMI
port or DisplayPort.
DC-IN (19V) Socket for AC adaptor.
Security lock slot Attachment point for an optional security cable (not included) used to
deter theft.
Note: The Security lock slot works only for this port replicator.
Serial port connection point for a serial device.
Due to the USB to Serial emulation limitations, not all legacy serial
devices may work.
Port Replicator lock
switch
Switch to lock or unlock the Eject lever. When the Port Replicator lock
switch is in the locked position, the Eject lever cannot be operated.
Universal Serial Bus
(USB 2.0) ports
Connection points for USB 2.0 or 1.1 devices. Four USB ports are
provided on the back of the port replicator.
Universal Serial Bus
(USB 3.0) ports
Connection points for USB 3.0 or 2.0 or 1.1 devices. Two USB ports
are provided on the back of the port replicator.
■Certain USB devices, such as optical disk drives and hard disk drives, have high power
requirements. Due to the power output limitations of the USB ports, you may not be able to operate
more than one such device at a time.
■If your USB device came with an AC adaptor, be sure to connect the device to a power outlet with
the AC adaptor, in addition to connecting the device to the port replicator with a USB cable.
■Booting from USB 3.0 ports is only available if your computer supports it.

Special features
The port replicator supports the following power-saving features, if they are available on your computer.
Refer to your computer documentation for details.
Setting up the port replicator
To set up the port replicator, follow the steps below:
1. Turn off your computer.
2. Disconnect all cables/cords from your computer.
3. Connect your external devices to the appropriate ports on the port replicator.
4. Connect the included AC adaptor to the port replicator.
Your port replicator will come with either a 2-pin or a 3-pin plug, depending on where it was
purchased.

Feature Purpose
Wake On LAN When a computer in sleep or hibernation mode is connected to the port replicator,
this feature turns on the computer when a wake-up signal is received from a
connected LAN cable.
Wake Up (USB) When a computer in sleep or hibernation mode is connected to the port replicator,
this feature turns on the computer when a wake-up signal is received from a
device connected to a USB port.
Note: When the Wake Up (USB) feature is enabled and the docked computer is in
sleep or hibernation mode, the computer’s AC power light may be on or off,
depending on the computer model. In either case, the computer will turn on when
a wake-up signal is received from a USB device.
■Do not use the AC adaptor that was included with your computer. Always use the Toshiba AC
adaptor that was provided with this product or use Toshiba recommended alternate adaptors to
avoid any risk of fire and/or other damage to the computer and/or port replicator. Use of an
incompatible AC adaptor could cause fire and/or damage to the computer and/or port replicator,
possibly resulting in serious injury. TOSHIBA assumes no liability for any damage caused by use of
an incompatible adaptor.
■When you connect the AC adaptor to the port replicator, always follow the steps in the exact order
as described below. Connecting the power cable to a live electrical outlet should be the last step,
otherwise the adaptor DC output plug could hold an electrical charge and cause an electrical shock
or minor bodily injury when touched. As a general safety precaution, avoid touching any metal parts.

b. Connect the AC adaptor to the DC-IN (19V) connector on the port replicator.

c. Connect the power cord plug to a live electrical outlet.The port replicator is now ready for use.
Docking your computer
The system supports hot docking and undocking. To dock your computer in the port replicator, follow the
steps below:
1. Check your computer’s type according to the LCD size of your computer.
A: 13 inch B: 14 inch C: 15 inch
The A, B, C marks printed on your port replicator, will guide you to align your computer for docking.
2. Align the top right corner of your computer to the corresponding mark on your port replicator.

3. Press down on the back of the computer until it clicks into place. The computer connector on the port
replicator engages the computer’s docking port.
When the computer is connected, the Docked light glows green.
4. If the computer is not already on, press the power button on the port replicator to turn the computer
on. The power light on the computer will turn on, indicating that the computer is receiving power.
■The first time you dock your computer, a message should appear on your computer screen
indicating the devices connected to the port replicator are ready to use.
■You can leave your computer docked in the port replicator overnight. Use the standard Windows®
shutdown procedure, which will automatically power off your computer. Press the power button on
the port replicator (or the computer’s power button) when you are ready to turn the computer on
again.

Undocking your computer
The system supports hot docking and undocking.
Do not disconnect the computer from the port replicator while an application is running, when the
Docked light is off, it is safe to disconnect.
To disconnect a computer from the port replicator, follow the steps below:
1. Make sure the Port Replicator lock switch on the port replicator is set to the unlocked position.

2. Press the Eject button on the port replicator. The Docked light will turn off.
3. After the Docked light on the port replicator turns off, pull the Eject lever towards you to release the
computer from the port replicator.
4. Lift the computer off of the port replicator.
Securing your port replicator
The security lock slot enables you to connect a security cable (not provided) to help prevent
unauthorized removal of the port replicator.
Follow these steps to secure port replicator:
1. Attach your security cable (purchased separately) to a desk or other large object, following the
instructions included with your security cable.
2. Set the Port Replicator lock switch on the port replicator to the locked position.
3. Insert the lock end of the security cable into the port replicator’s security lock slot.
4. Turn the key or set the combination on the end of the security cable.

Securing your computer
To ensure security of your computer, it is recommended that you lock your computer with a security
cable(sold separately).
Configuring audio ports
You can playback or record audio either through the port replicator’s audio ports or the docked
computer’s audio ports. However, you cannot use the audio ports on the docked computer and on the
port replicator at the same time.
By default, the audio ports on the port replicator are automatically enabled each time you dock the
computer. When you undock the computer, the audio ports on the computer are automatically
re-enabled.
To change the default settings, you may need to manually adjust the audio settings in Windows®,
as described in this section.
Configuring audio playback ports (Line out)
1. Right-click the speaker icon in the Notification Area of your Windows®desktop.
If the speaker icon is not visible in the Notification Area, access the audio configuration utility through
the Start menu as follows: Click Start, Control Panel, Hardware and Sound, and then Sound.

2. Select Playback Devices from the menu.
3. On the Playback tab of the dialog box, select one of the following:
■A Realtek High Definition Audio device — to use the docked computer’s Headphone/
Line out jack
■A USB Multimedia Audio device — to use the port replicator’s Headphone/Line out jack
■An Intel®Display Audio device — to use the corresponding HDMI device you connected.
4. Click Set Default.
5. Click OK.
6. Connect your playback device to the port you enabled in step 3.
Configuring audio recording ports (Microphone)
1. Right-click the speaker icon in the Notification Area of your Windows®desktop.
If the speaker icon is not visible in the Notification Area, access the audio configuration utility through
the Start menu as follows: Click Start, Control Panel, Hardware and Sound, and then Sound.

2. Select Recording Devices from the menu.
■If your media player is running when you undock or dock, you must close the application and wait
approximately 10-15 seconds for the new settings to take effect before restarting the application.
■Audio devices connected to the port replicator via the 3.5 mm audio jacks will appear as USB
Multimedia Audio Devices in Windows®although they are not connected to a USB port. This does
not affect the operation of the devices.
■When your computer is docked in the port replicator, SPDIF and Line in ports may display in
Windows®audio properties dialog boxes. These ports should appear as “Currently unavailable” and
are actually not provided by the port replicator.

3. On the Recording tab of the dialog box, select one of the following:
■A Realtek High Definition Audio device — to use the docked computer’s Microphone jack
■A USB Multimedia Audio device — to use the port replicator’s Microphone jack
4. Click Set Default.
5. Click OK.
6. Connect your recording device to the port you enabled in step 3.
Troubleshooting
This section provides tips for correcting problems, should any occur. It also describes how to contact
Toshiba should you encounter problems that you cannot resolve.

Check the connections. Make sure the power cord is firmly connected to the
port replicator and a live electrical power outlet.
Check the condition of the power cord and plug prongs. If the cord is frayed
or damaged or the plug prongs are bent, replace the cord. If the plug prongs
are soiled, wipe them with a clean cloth.
Disconnect and reconnect the AC adaptor and try again to turn on the
computer.
Check to make sure the computer is properly connected to the port replicator.

Press hotkeys Fn + F5 to change the display setting. Choose a setting that
displays information to an external monitor.
Make sure that the monitor’s power switch is on. Confirm that the monitor’s
power cable is plugged into a live electrical power outlet.
Try adjusting the contrast and brightness controls on the monitor.
Display error Check that the cable connecting the monitor to the port replicator is firmly
attached.

USB device does not
work
Check that the cable connection between the USB ports on the port replicator
and the USB device is secure.
Make sure the USB device drivers are properly installed.

Check that your computer is properly configured to communicate with the
network before connecting the LAN cable to the port replicator. If necessary,
contact your system administrator for assistance.
Check that the network cable is properly connected to the port replicator.

Cannot operate the
Port Replicator lock
switch
The Port Replicator lock switch cannot be operated when a security cable is
attached to the security lock slot. Remove the security cable from the slot and
then move the Port Replicator lock switch.
Cannot operate the
Eject lever
Remove the security cable from the security lock slot, if applicable, and set
the Port Replicator lock switch to the unlocked position. Then operate the
Eject lever again.

Check that the Mute all/Mute checkboxes in Windows®are not selected.
To locate these settings, double-click the speaker icon in your Windows®
system tray/Notification Area.
Close your media player application, if it is running. Wait approximately 10-15
seconds for the operating system to recognize the audio device connected to
the port replicator, and then restart your media player application.
The audio port on the port replicator may be disabled. To enable the port,
follow the instructions in “Configuring audio ports” section.

By default, the internal speakers and audio ports on the computer are

Instructions de sécurité
Veillez à toujours lire attentivement les instructions de sécurité:
Ne démontez pas, ne modifiez pas ou ne réparez pas votre produit.
■ Prenez les précautions suivantes lors de la manipulation du câble d’alimentation :
■ N’intervenez jamais sur le câble ou sur la fiche d’alimentation.
■ Ne coupez ou ne modifiez pas le câble d’alimentation.
■ Ne pliez ou ne tordez pas le câble d’alimentation.
■ Ne tirez pas sur le câble pour débrancher son connecteur d’une prise murale. Saisissez toujours
le connecteur directement.
■ Ne placez jamais d’objets lourds sur un câble d’alimentation.
■ Ne disposez jamais un câble d’alimentation en travers d’une porte ou d’une fenêtre, car il pourrait
être pincé ou écrasé.
■ Ne disposez jamais un câble d’alimentation à proximité d’une source de chaleur.
■ N’utilisez jamais de clous, d’agrafes ou d’objets similaires pour fixer ou attacher le câble/cordon.
■ N’essayez jamais de démonter ou de réparer l’adaptateur secteur.
Toute action mentionnée ci-dessus peut endommager les câbles et provoquer un incendie ou vous
exposer à des chocs électriques susceptibles de causer des blessures graves.
Raccordement du câble d’alimentation
■ Vérifiez toujours que la fiche du câble (et la fiche de l’éventuelle rallonge) est enfoncée entièrement
dans la prise pour garantir une connexion électrique parfaite. Si vous ne respectez pas ces
consignes, vous risquez de provoquer un incendie ou de vous exposer à des chocs électriques
susceptibles de causer des blessures graves.
■ Si vous utilisez une prise multiple, soyez particulièrement prudent. Toute surcharge d’une prise peut
provoquer un incendie ou un choc électrique, et entraîner des blessures graves.
Poussière sur les fiches ou les prises d’alimentation
■ Si de la poussière se dépose sur les fiches ou les prises d’alimentation, éteignez l’appareil et
débranchez les fiches. Nettoyez ensuite les fiches et les prises à l’aide d’un chiffon sec. Continuer à
utiliser le produit sans nettoyer sa fiche d’alimentation peut provoquer un incendie ou vous exposer à
des chocs électriques susceptibles de causer des blessures graves.
Utilisez uniquement l’adaptateur secteur TOSHIBA
Utilisez une source d’alimentation adaptée
Utilisez uniquement des câbles/cordons d’alimentation agréés
Ne manipulez jamais la prise de courant avec des mains mouillées
Risques d’étouffement et de suffocation
■ Ne laissez jamais des petites pièces telles que des couvercles, des bouchons ou des vis à la portée
de bébés ou de petits enfants. L’ingestion d’une petite pièce peut provoquer un étouffement ou une
suffocation entraînant la mort ou des lésions graves. En cas d’ingestion d’une pièce, prenez les
mesures d’urgence appropriées et consultez un médecin.
Évitez tout contact avec les liquides, l’humidité et les corps étrangers
Ne posez pas le produit ou l’adaptateur secteur sur une surface sensible à la chaleur
Ne placez pas votre produit dans un environnement exposé à une chaleur excessive

Environnement de travail
Ce produit a été conçu conformément à la norme EMC (compatibilité électromagnétique) et pour des
applications de type résidentiel, commercial et industrie légère. Tout autre environnement de travail n’a
pas été vérifié par Toshiba et l’utilisation de ce produit dans ces environnements de travail peut être
limité ou ne pas être recommandé. Conséquences possibles de l’utilisation de ce produit dans un
environnement de travail non vérifié : perturbation du fonctionnement d’autres produits ou de ce produit
du fait de son environnement, avec des risques de dysfonctionnement temporaires ou de perte/

Composant Description
Bouton d’alimentation Met le réplicateur de ports sous tension.
Remarque : assurez-vous que le réplicateur de ports est bien
connecté à un ordinateur avant d’appuyer sur le bouton
d’alimentation.
Connecteur de
l’ordinateur
Connexion à l’interface d’accueil de l’ordinateur.
Voyant de connexion Ce voyant est vert pendant l’utilisation du duplicateur de ports.
Ce voyant s’éteint à l’issue de la procédure de déconnexion de
l’ordinateur. Dès que le voyant de connexion est éteint, vous pouvez
déconnecter l’ordinateur en toute sécurité.
Bouton d’éjection Permet de lancer la séquence de déconnexion de l’ordinateur.
Remarque : une fois que vous avez appuyé sur le bouton d’éjection
et que le voyant de connexion est éteint, l’ordinateur ne peut plus
communiquer avec les périphériques externes connectés au
réplicateur de ports. Déconnectez puis reconnectez l’ordinateur afin
de rétablir la communication.
Levier d’éjection Permet de séparer l’ordinateur du réplicateur de ports.
Remarque 1 : veuillez consulter la section « Déconnexion de
l’ordinateur » qui décrit la méthode permettant de déconnecter
l’ordinateur du réplicateur de ports.
Remarque 2 : lorsque la station d’accueil est verrouillée, il est
impossible d’actionner le levier d’éjection. Pour plus de détails sur le
verrou du réplicateur de ports, consultez la section « Sécurisation du
réplicateur de ports ».
