Care must be taken when installing this accessory to ensure damage does not occur to the vehicle. The installation of this
accessory should follow approved guidelines to ensure a quality installation.
These guidelines can be found in the "Accessory Installation Practices" document.
This document covers such items as:
•Vehicle Protection (use of covers and blankets, cleaning chemicals, etc.).
•Safety (eye protection, rechecking torque procedure, etc.).
•Vehicle Disassembly/Reassembly (panel removal, part storage, etc.).
•Electrical Component Disassembly/Reassembly (battery disconnection, connector removal, etc.).
Please see your Toyota dealer for a copy of this document.
1. Vehicle Protection.
(a) Open rear hatch.
(b) Lift trunk shelf to access battery.
(c) Remove the negative battery cable. (Fig. 1-1)
(1) Protect rear hatch entry before starting.
(2) Set the parking brake prior to disconnecting
the battery.
CAUTION: Do not touch the positive terminal
with any tool when removing cable.
(d) Using protective blankets, cover front seat,
interior of vihicle, center console and front
side of the shift lever.
2. Vehicle Disassembly.
(a) Remove the instrument panel cluster.
(Fig. 2-1)
(1) Detach the two (2) claws and four (4) clips,
and remove the instrument panel cluster.

(b) Remove the lower instrument pad. (Fig. 2-2)
(1) Remove the two (2) screws.
(2) Disconnect the hood lock control cable.
(3) Detach the four (4) claws and five (5) clips.
(4) Disconnect all connectors and remove the
instrument pad.
(c) Loosen the upper instrument pad. (Fig. 2-3)
(1) Detach the three (3) claws and four (4) clips.
(2) Disconnect the connector and remove the
instrument pad.
(d) Remove the instrument panel cluster.
(Fig. 2-4)
(1) Detach the claw and five (5) clips.
(2) Disconnect the connector and remove the
instrument panel cluster.

(e) Remove the instrument panel cluster.
(Fig. 2-5)
(1) Detach the six (6) clips and remove the
instrument panel cluster.
(f) Remove the multi-display assembly. (Fig. 2-6)
(1) Remove the two (2) bolts.
(2) Disconnect the connector and remove the
multi-display.
(g) Remove instrument cluster panel assembly
center. (Fig. 2-7)
(1) Remove the two (2) screws.
(2) Detach the four (4) clips and remove the
instrument cluster panel.

(h) Remove the radio receiver with bracket.
(Fig. 2-8)
(1) Remove the four (4) screws.
(2) Disconnect the connector and remove the
radio receiver with bracket.
(i) Remove the glove box door stopper sub-
assembly. (Fig. 2-9)
(1) Holding the part indicated in the illustration,
remove the glove box door stopper from the
glove box door.
(j) Remove the glove box door assembly.
(Fig. 2-10)
(1) While pushing in the sides of the glove box
door as indicated by the arrows in the
illustration, open the door to release it from
the two (2) stoppers.

(2) Open the door until it is horizontal.
(3) Pull the glove box door toward the rear of
the vehicle to detach the two (2) hinges and
remove the glove box door. (Fig. 2-11)
3. Install the Interface Unit.
(a) Slide the interface unit into the foam sleeve.
(b) Connect the iPod cable to the interface unit.
(c) Route the AVC-LAN cable behind the left
side of inner molded dash structure at the back
of the head unit. (Fig. 3-1)
(d) Place the interface unit between the cross
member and the inner molded dash structure.
(Fig. 3-2)
(e) Secure the interface unit with two (2) 14" lock
ties. (Fig. 3-2)
(1) Lock ties must go over the cross member.
NOTE: Cut off all excess on lock tie after
tightening.

4. Connect the AVC-LAN Cable to the Head
Unit.
(a) Bundle the excess AVC-LAN cable and
secure with cushion tape and one (1) 14” lock
tie. (Fig. 4-1)
(b) Secure the AVC-LAN cable at the vehicle
harness with one (1) 6" lock tie behind the
inner molded dash structure. (Fig. 4-1)
NOTE: Cut off all excess of the lock tie after
tightening.
NOTE: If the 12 pin connector is already pre-
wired to the head unit, proceed to step (c). If the
12 pin connector is not pre-wired to the head unit,
proceed to step (d).

(c) If the 12 pin connector is already pre-wired to
the head unit.
(1) Remove the pre-wired 12 pin connector
from the head unit.
(2) If applicable, plug the pre-wired 12 pin
connector into the connector of the AVC-
LAN cable. (Fig. 4-2 & 4-3)
(3) Wrap the connectors with adhesive
protective foam to secure. (Fig.4-4)
(4) Reconnect the factory harness and antenna
cable.
(d) If the 12 pin connector is not pre-wired to the
head unit.
(1) Wrap the unused connector of the AVC-
LAN cable in adhesive protective foam.
(Fig. 4-5)
(2) Reconnect the factory harness and antenna
cable.
(e) Plug the connector of the AVC-LAN cable
into the head unit. (Fig. 4-6)
(f) Reinstall head unit.

5. Route the iPod Cable.
(a) Route the iPod cable from the opening for the
head unit to the glove box. (Fig. 5-1)
(1) Route the iPod cable under the vehicle
harness.
(b) Bundle the excess the iPod cable and secure
with the cushion tape. (Fig. 5-2)
(1) Provide sufficient cable length so 14 inches
of cable will be in the glove box after
installation.
(c) Using one (1) 6” lock tie, secure the cable
bundle to the vehicle harness plastic cover.
(Fig. 5-3)
NOTE: Cut off all excess of the lock tie after
tightening.

6. Route the iPod Cable Terminal.
(a) Make a round hole through which the cable
can pass at the location on the glove box
shown in the illustration. (Fig. 6-1)
(1) Hole saw is 1 1/8” (29 mm).
(2) De-bur drilled hole.
(3) Clean shavings from glove box after drilling.
(b) Route the iPod cable through the hole from
outside of the glove box. (Fig. 6-2)
(c) Apply the grommet to the iPod cable. The
distance from the grommet to iPod cable
terminal should be approx. 14 inch. (Fig. 6-3)
(d) Secure the grommet to the hole from the
inside of the glove box. (Fig. 6-4)

7. Vehicle Reassembly.
(a) Reinstall junction block.
(b) Reinstall all trim pieces in reverse order.
(1) Reconnect any disconnected connectors.
(c) Verify the panels fit together properly with no
uneven gaps between them.
8. Reconnect Battery Cable.
(a) Reconnect the negative battery cable.
(Fig. 8-1)
(1) Reconnect the negative terminal back to its
original position.
(2) Tighten the nut with 4.1 N·m (36 lbf-in) of
torque.
(3) Be careful not to touch the positive battery
terminal.
(b) Clean up and remove any trash.
(c) Place owner's manual in the glove box.
(d) Proceed to functional verification.
