Properinstallationofthisfurnaceiscrucialforsafeand
efcientoperation.
Install vent at clearances specified by the vent
manufacturer.
Donotconnectthepelletventtoaventservingany
otherapplianceorfurnace.
Do not install a ue damper in the exhaust venting
systemofthisunit.
Useofoutsideairisnotrequiredforthisunit.However,
fresh air and return air make-up is required for
maximum burn characteristics and heat distribution
throughoutyourhouse.
Contact your local building officials to obtain a
permitand informationonanyadditional installation
restrictionsorinspectionrequirementsinyourarea.
Do not throw this manual away. This manual has
important operating and maintenance instructions
thatyouwillneedatalatertime.Alwaysfollowthe
instructionsinthismanual.
Thisheaterisdesignedandapprovedasamulti-fuel,
suchascornorwoodpellets,burningfurnace.Use
onlydriedshelledcornwithamoisturecontentof11%
orless(whichprovidesthebestresults).Apellettype
fuelusedshouldhaveanashcontentof1%orless.
Ifnot,efciencywillsuffer,andyourwarrantymaybe
voided.
Never use gasoline, gasoline-type lantern fuel,
kerosene, charcoal lighter uid, or similar liquids to
startor’freshenup’areinthisfurnace.Keepallsuch
liquidswellawayfromthefurnacewhileitisinuse.
Aworkingsmokedetectormustbeinstalledinthesame
roomasthisproduct.
Donotunplugthefurnaceifyoususpectamalfunction.
TurntheON/OFFSWITCHto”OFF’andcontactyour
dealer.
Your furnace requires periodic maintenance and
cleaning(see”MAINTENANCE”).Failuretomaintain
your furnace may lead to improper and/or unsafe
operation.
Disconnect the power cord before performing any
maintenance!NOTE:TurningtheON/OFFSwitchto
”OFF”doesnotdisconnectallpowertotheelectrical
componentsofthefurnace.
Nevertrytorepairorreplaceanypartofthefurnace
unless instructions for doing so are given in this
manual.Allotherworkshouldbedonebyatrained
technician.
Allow the furnace to cool before performing any
maintenance or cleaning. Ashes must be disposed
inametalcontainerwithatightttinglid.Theclosed
container of ashes should be placed on a non-
combustiblesurfaceorontheground,wellawayfrom
allcombustiblematerials,pendingnaldisposal.
Theexhaustsystemshouldbecheckedmonthlyduring
theburningseasonforanybuild-upofsootorcreosote.
Donottouchthehotsurfacesofthefurnace.Educate
all children on the dangers of a high-temperature
furnace.Youngchildrenshouldbesupervisedwhen
theyareinthesameroomasthefurnace.
Apowersurgeprotectorisrecommended.Thisunit
mustbepluggedintoa110-120V,60Hzgrounded
electricaloutlet.Donotuseanadapterplugorsever
the grounding plug. Do not route the electrical cord
underneath,infrontof,oroverthefurnace.Donot
routethe cordinfoot trafcareasor pinchthecord
under furniture.
Thefurnacewillnotoperateduringapoweroutage.
Ifapoweroutagedoesoccur,checkthefurnacefor
smokespillageandopenawindowifanysmokespills
intotheroom.
The feed door must be closed and sealed during
operation.
Never block free airow through the open vents of
the unit.
Keepforeignobjectsoutofthehopper.
Themovingpartsofthisfurnacearepropelledbyhigh
torqueelectricmotors.Keepallbodypartsawayfrom
theaugerwhilethefurnaceispluggedintoanelectrical
outlet.Thesemovingpartsmaybegintomoveatany
timewhilethefurnaceispluggedin.
Donotplaceclothingorotherammableitemsonor
nearthisfurnace.
Thisapplianceisnotintendedforcommercialuse.
