Introduction
The information in this manual covers the installation, operation, and maintenance of the Nextiva
®
S2800e V-UPM-1 Parapet Mount. This unit should only be installed by a qualified technician using
approved materials and wiring practices in accordance with the National Electrical Code ANSI/NFPA 70,
state, and local codes. Read these instructions through completely before attempting installation. This
mount has only been evaluated for use with UL Listed Nextiva Camera Domes.
The V-UPM-1 is designed to allow Nexitva S2800e IP PTZ Dome Cameras to be mounted over a roof
parapet or similar structure. The parapet mount provides a sturdy installation capable of withstanding
extreme weather conditions. It allows the mounted equipment to be swiveled onto the roof for easy
serviceability and adjustment.
Installation
Installing the Mounts
The V-UPM-1 Parapet Mount consists of the parapet mount neck, two wall bracket assemblies, a support
bracket, a cap, pipe sealant tape and appropriate hardware. See Table 1. The hardware used to secure
the brackets to the mounting surface must be supplied by the customer and appropriate for the type of
mounting surface.

Note: The V-UPM-1 is designed to support the weight of the Nextiva S2800e Camera Dome. Refer to the
appropriate product specifications for the weights of these dome systems. Be sure that the mount
is installed in a location that can support the load. There should be a minimum parapet height of 18
inches (460 mm).
Note: For outdoor installations, it is recommended that stainless steel hardware be used. All mounting
hardware MUST have minimum pullout strength of 600 lb (272 kg) per bolt. When mounting to
wood, use screws long enough to penetrate at least 2.5 inches (64 mm). If mounting to a steel
structure, drill holes according to the mounting pattern. Screws should be long enough to
accommodate lock washers and nuts. In masonry or concrete, use lead anchors or expansion bolts
installed according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
Caution: Never mount the brackets directly into the end grain of wood.

Before beginning installation of the parapet mount, run all necessary cabling to the location selected
for the installation. Cables are routed up through the mount to the dome system.
1. Attach one wall bracket and the support bracket to the parapet surface using appropriate hardware
for the material of the parapet. Be sure that the wall bracket is against the parapet surface and the
support bracket is on top of the wall bracket, with the stop on the support bracket facing out from the
parapet. Refer to Figure 1.
2. Attach the second wall bracket to the parapet in the selected location, using appropriate hardware.
The suggested minimum distance between the wall brackets is 12.0 inches (305 mm).
3. Insert the cap supplied into the bottom opening of the parapet mount.
4. Place the parapet mount in the cutout contour of the wall brackets, align the wall bracket covers and
secure with the 5/16-18 x 1 inch screws, lock washers and flat washers supplied. To prevent the
parapet mount from spinning, secure it to the bottom wall bracket through the hole in the mount with
the 5/16-18x3 inch bolt, lock washer, flat washer, and nut provided.
5. Route the cables through the cap and up the mount to where the dome system is installed. Apply
caulk or RTV sealant around entrance opening in cap.
6. Install the Nextiva S2800e housing. Screw the housing directly onto the parapet mount. Use the pipe
sealant tape to secure the fit and make it watertight. Refer to the instruction manual for installation of
the domed housing for specific installation instructions.
7. To swivel the dome system out over the parapet, loosen the bolts just enough to allow movement and
position the unit. Tighten the bolts to secure the mount into position.
8. For high vandalism areas, lock the dome with the soft tip set screw supplied.
Note: If the optional 5/16-18 x 3 inch bolt was installed, it must be removed to swivel the unit.

Operation
To swivel the mount in from the parapet for access to the dome system, loosen the bolts enough to allow
movement. Swing the unit in from the parapet. Tighten the bolts. After servicing or adjustment is
complete, loosen the bolts, position the mount, and tighten bolts.
Maintenance
The V-UPM-1 Parapet Mount requires no maintenance.
