GENERAL INFORMATION
www.vetlubrication.com 3/23
This is an instruction manual for the VET Slim compact automatic grease pump.
An automatic greasing system from VET lubricates your machine or vehicle with the right
amount of grease, while you are using the machine or vehicle. The users only responsability
is to fill the grease reservoir.
To maintain the durability of the automatic greasing system, it is important that you adhere
to the following rules:
Install the components correctly.
Use the correct grease.
Check the device regularly.
CONSEQUENCES WHEN NEGLECTING GUIDELINES
If there is not enough grease in the appliance or if you do not refill the pump regularly, the
machine or vehicle may be damaged. VET Lubrication B.V. is not liable if damage occurs.
Are you using incorrect or contaminated lubricants, are you changing something on the
device yourself or are you not using the right parts for a repair? Then the warranty expires.
FOR YOUR SAFETY
For your own safety, you must adhere to one important rule; Switch
off the device completely during maintenance or repair work.

2. OPERATING OF THE VET SLIM PUMP
The electric pump pumps the grease to the progressive main distributor. This main distribu-
tor distributes the grease in the right quantities over the different lubrication points or se-
condary distributors. Pistons force the grease in a certain direction, so that it cannot choose
the path of least resistance. This ensures good control over the entire lubrication system.
With the control panel you control the lubrication and pause time so that your machine or
vehicle is lubricated optimally.

3. VET SLIM BASIC OPERATING PRICNIPLE
The VET SLIM grease pump is driven by a 12VDC or 24VDC electrical motor. An eccentric
disc is mounted to this electric motor. The eccentric movement of this disk pushes the piston
from the pump element back and forth. The electric motor is controlled by an internal or
external control/timer.

4. THE FIXED PUMPING ELEMENT
The pump element is a crucial part of the automatic lubrication system. It is so important
because the pump element builds up the pressure in the greasing lines. The eccentric disk
pushes every revolution against the piston of the pump element. This forces grease into
the greasing lines. When the eccentric disc does not push against the plunger, the chamber
of the pump element is filled with grease. Repeating this several times creates a pumping
effect.
The pump element is provided with an optional pressure relief valve. When a lubrication
point gets blocked somewhere in the system, too much pressure will build up in the system.
Then grease will be let out of the internal pressure relief valve. This makes it easy to see if
something is wrong with the lubrication system. The pump will give an electronic warning
when the overflow is triggered.
The pump element wears during use. If the pump element is worn, it will no longer pumps
grease. When the grease level in the reservoir does not drop. You must replace the pump
element.
The VET SLIM pump is standard delivered with a 0.12 cm3 per stroke pumping element. The
output per minute is 2.4 cm3 /min.
4.1. INSTALLING THE PUMPING ELEMENT
1. Unscrew and remove the plas-
tic plug with the O Ring that
is installed on the standard
product.
2. Insert and screw the pump
element until it is fixed in
position.
3. Use 20Nm torque to secure the
element.

5. THE MULTI-LINE PUMPING ELEMENT
The multi-line pumping element is normally used to directly lube a single lubrication point
without the use of dividers. This option will reduce the costs of a system in certain situati-
ons. The operating principle of the multi-line pumping element is comparable to the opera-
ting principle of the fixed pump element with a lower grease output. The grease output of
the multi-line puping element ranges from 0.09 cm3/min to 0.85 cm3/min.
5.1. INSTALLING THE MULTI-LINE PUMPING ELEMENT
1. Unscrew and remove the plastic plug with the O Ring that is installed on the standard
product.
2. Insert and screw the pump element until it is fixed in position.
3. Use 20Nm torque to secure the element.

6. THE ADJUSTABLE PUMPING ELEMENT
To set the precise output of the second pump element, or to set the output of a pump
without controller,
an adjustable pumping element can be added to one of the outlets of the pump.
TO SET THE PROGRESSIVE PUMPING UNIT WITH ADJUSTABLE
FLOW, PROCEED AS FOLLOWS:
Ensure there is no residual pressure in the grease line.
Remove the adjustment access cap using a 4 mm Allen wrench.
Insert the Allen wrench in the exposed grub screw.
Rotate the screw clockwise until it can’t go further.
Rotate the screw counterclockwise to reduce the output.
Every rotation equates to approximately 0.52 cm3/min. With four possible rotations
the minimun amount is 0.32 cm3/min and the maximum is 2.4 cm3/min.
Check if the copper gasket is present and in good order and replace if necessary.
Reinstall the cap using a 4 mm Allen wrench.

7. FILLING THE RESERVOIR
The grease reservoir can be filled in three different ways:
FOR MANUAL FILLING OF THE GREASE RESERVOIR WITH THE
MANUAL FILLING SYRINGE, THE FOLLOWING STEPS MUST BE
FOLLOWED.
Manually
Pneumatic
Electrical
NOTE:
Make sure the grease filling syringe and refill
fitting are clean before filling the reservoir. Dirt
in the system will cause various problems.
STEP 1:
Unscrew the red protection
cap.
STEP 2:
Press in the filling syringe
firmly into the refill fitting and
gently empty the syringe.
STEP 3:
Screw the red protection cap
back on.

9.3 THE STAND-BY DIP-SWITCH
The stand-by dip-switch is used to set the time between lubrication cycles. It behaves diffe-
rently based on the settings set on the config dip-switch. By changing the position of switch
2 on the config dip-switch, the stand-by dip-switch can be set to either time or pulse mode.
By changing the position of switch 3, the time or pulse scale can be adjusted.
Keep in mind that by switching on multiple switches on the stand-by switch, the time or
pulses will be added up. In time mode, with scale 1 selected it is possible to change the
time from 1 to 63 minutes in steps of 1 minute. In scale 2 the range is from 0.5 to 31.5
hours in steps of 0.5 hours. In pulse mode with scale 1 selected, the pulses can be set from
1 to 63 pulses in steps of 1 pulse. In scale 2 the pulses can be set from 50 to 3150 pulses in
steps of 50 pulses.

9.4 THE WORK DIP-SWITCH
The work dip-switch is used to set the lubrication time. It behaves differently based on the
settings set on the config dip-switch. By changing the position of switch 4 on the config
dip-switch, the work dip-switch can be set to either scale 1 (seconds) or scale 2 (minutes).
Keep in mind that by switching on multiple switches on the work switch, the time will be
added up. With scale 1 selected, the time can be changed from 1 to 63 seconds in steps of
1 second. With scale 2 selected, the time can be changed from 1 to 63 minutes in steps of 1
minute.

9.5 THE CYCLE LED
The green cycle led indicates the status of the pump. If the pump is in the “stop” status, the
light will remain turned off. If the light flashes, the pump is in stand-by mode and when the
light is turned on, the pump is lubricating.
9.6 THE ALARM LED
The red alarm led will flash in different manners to indicate there is a problem with the
pump:
1. Red light flashes once per second: Level alarm, refill the pump and reset or restart it.
2. Red light flashes twice per second: Cycle control is enabled, but a cycle has been com-
pleted without any change in sensor status. Reset or restart the pump.

9.7 CHANGING SETTINGS
To change the dip-switch settings:
1. Switch off the power supply to the pump.
2. Open the window in front of the switches.
3. Adjust the dip-switches.
4. Close the window.
5. Restore power to the pump.
