When you have considered these questions make sure
• The Y-cam is securely positioned facing what you want to see.
• The motion detection set-up matches your needs.
• The schedule for the Y-cam is set to match your requirements.

recording?

Do I want a notication sent to me when motion
recording is triggered?

Motion alert & notication tips
Y-cam is equipped with a sophisticated motion sensor
which detects when motion is happening and can alert
you instantly by email and by push notications.
If you want to receive alerts every time motion is detected*, you may want
to take in to consideration the following tips so that you achieve the best
results and reduce the number of fake alerts.
Active pets (or children!) may activate the motion
recording by accident.
Movements near busy doors or windows may
set o multiple alarms.
Moving cars or headlights may cause unwanted motion
recordings.
Sunlight and reections of the light may cause
the motion alerts to trigger.
IR lights will reect when pointed at glass and
may create false alerts.
*Alerts will be sent a maximum of once every 15 minutes per camera in order to avoid you being
alerted multiple times to the same event.

A- Unscrew the stand cap screw (anti-clockwise)
B- Twist the stand cap to remove the cables
(anti-clockwise)
Remove the protective boot and screw
in the Wi-Fi antenna in it’s place (clockwise)
Setting up your Y-cam HD Pro
It’s important your Y-cam is congured according to
your individual requirements. Once you have completed
the set up process it is advisable to test it so you are
satised it will do what you need.

Use the network (Ethernet) cable supplied to connect your Y-cam camera
to a spare network port on the back of your router. Connect the power.

Create your account by downloading
the Y-cam iOS or Android app
The Status LED on the front of the camera will start ashing. Wait for it to start
communicating with our cloud platform, once connected the status LED will
go green. This may take a few minutes.

Visit www.y-cam.com and choose ‘Sign In’. Follow online steps for
connecting your Y-cam camera to Wi-Fi or using it with a network cable.

Download the Y-cam app on your smartphone (search for “Y-cam”
on Google Play or the iOS App Store) and follow the step-by-step
instructions to get your camera up and running in minutes.
If you’re having problems nding the app please scan the QR code below with your smartphone.
If you already have an existing Y-cam account, please login and go to Camera Manager to add your new camera.

•If using Wi-Fi, make sure you remove the protective boot from the Wi-Fi antenna
mounting screw before attaching the antenna.
• We recommend placing the camera no further than 10m/30ft away from your router;
closer if there are obstacles in the way such as walls, doors or ceilings.
• Outside of this range, we recommend using an Ethernet connection, Power over Ethernet,
installing a Wi-Fi signal extender or repeater, or using HomePlug/Powerline technology.
• Y-cam is only compatible with 2.4GHz network. If your router is using the 5GHz band,
please ensure it is operating in a mixed mode and with the frequencies operating
independently from one another.
• Make sure your camera is connecting to your network properly before following the rest
of the installation procedure and securely fastening your camera to the wall.
Installation & placement tips
Connected on Wi-Fi
or using extender
Using a Wi-Fi connection for our camera
is a popular option, but thick or insulated
external walls can greatly reduce the
signal strength. Always test the camera
can reach your network before installation.
Connected by network
cable or PoE
Ethernet or Power over Ethernet* (PoE)
connections are the most reliable. PoE
allows you to also power the camera
from a PoE switch/router, so only an
ethernet cable is required to reach
the camera.
*A PoE Injector or Switch that is 802.3af compliant and a minimum 13W power per port is required.

If using Wi-Fi, before mounting, ensure your camera is in a position where Wi-Fi is accessible
Installing your HD Pro on a wall

Work out where you want the camera to be
placed, and drill two holes for the stand cap.
Prepare your cabling to the centre of this point,
either along the wall or through the wall (See
Picture 1) (Power cable if using Wi-Fi, power
cable and/or ethernet cable if using network
connection or PoE), bearing in mind the cabling
will be going straight in to the back of the camera
- so all excess cable should be removed, with the
cable connectors as close to the centre of the
base plate as possible.
Position the rubber grommet over the cables
between the two screws, channeling the cables
through the groove if required (See Picture 2)
The grommet only ts into the stand cap one way.
Position the stand cap over the wires, ax the
grommet into the cap, and then screw the cap to
the wall, ensuring the grommet is ush against
the rear of the stand cap (See picture 3)
Prepare the camera and stand for mounting
(attach Wi-Fi aerial, tighten ball joints slightly,
move sun shield, etc as needed for your setup)
Note: Ensure all excess cable is is removed as
excess cable will not t in the camera mount.

Connect the cable from the camera to the cabling
in step 2 (See picture 4)
Please make sure the power connector is pushed
in securely
Position the cable from the base of the camera
through the base of the stand and insert any
extra cable in to the stand (See picture 5)
Turn the camera and stand anti-clockwise and
place over the stand cap, and then turn clockwise
to lock in to place (See picture 6)
If you have any issues locking the stand into
place, make sure the cable from the camera
going into the base is not preventing the stand
from locking in to place.
Insert the stand cap screw and tighten it in order
to rmly secure the camera and stand to the wall
(See picture 7)
Readjust the cameras ball joint to capture the
desired view. Ax any loose cabling to the wall.

Tipps für Bewegungsalarm &
Mitteilungen
Die Y-cam ist mit einem ausgefeilten Bewegungsmelder
ausgestattet, der Bewegungen erkennt, wenn sie passieren,
und Sie sofort per E-Mail oder Push-Benachrichtigungen
alarmieren kann.
Wenn Sie jedes Mal, wenn Bewegungen erkannt werden*, einen Alarm
erhalten wollen, sollten Sie die folgenden Tipps in Erwägung ziehen, um
die besten Ergebnisse zu erhalten und die Anzahl der Fehlalarme
zu reduzieren.
Aktive Haustiere (oder Kinder!) können die
Bewegungsaufzeichnung versehentlich auslösen.
Bewegungen nahe häug benutzter Türen und Fenster
können mehrere Alarme auslösen.
Sich bewegende Autos und Scheinwerfer können ungewollte
Bewegungsaufzeichnungen verursachen.
Sonnenlicht und Lichtreektionen können den
Bewegungsalarm auslösen.
IR-Lichtstrahlen werden reektiert, wenn auf Glas gerichtet
und können einen Fehlalarm verursachen.
*Alarme werden maximal einmal alle 15 Minuten für jede Kamera gesendet, um zu vermeiden,
dass Sie mehrfach über das gleiche Ereignis alarmiert werden.

•Wenn Sie Wi-Fi benutzen, sicherstellen, dass die Schutzkappe vom Wi-Fi-Antennenanschluss
entfernt wird, bevor Sie die Antenne anschließen.
• Wir empfehlen, dass die Kamera in einer Entfernung von nicht mehr als 10 m vom Router
platziert wird; wenn sich Hindernisse wie Wände, Türen oder Decken zwischen Router und
Kamera benden, muss die Entfernung geringer sein.
• Außerhalb dieses Bereichs empfehlen wir die Nutzung von Ethernet-Verbindungen, Power
over Ethernet, Installation eines Wi-Fi Range Extenders oder Repeaters oder die Nutzung von

• Y-cam ist nur mit dem 2,4 GHz Netzwerk kompatibel. Wenn Ihr Router das 5-GHz-Band
benutzt, bitte sicherstellen, dass er im gemischten Modus betrieben wird und die Frequenzen
unabhängig voneinander funktionieren.
• Stellen Sie sicher, dass Ihre Kamera richtig mit Ihrem Netzwerk verbunden ist, bevor Sie
den Rest der Installationsvorgehensweise durchführen und Ihre Kamera sicher an der Wand
befestigen.

Verbindung über Wi-Fi oder
Nutzung eines Extenders
Nutzung einer Wi-Fi-Verbindung für Ihre
Kamera ist eine beliebte Option, doch
können dicke oder isolierte Wände die
Signalstärke stark reduzieren. Vor der
Installation immer überprüfen, dass die
Kamera Ihr Netzwerk erreichen kann.
Verbindung über
Netzwerkkabel oder PoE
Ethernet- oder Power over Ethernet*
(PoE, Stromversorgung über Ethernet)
Verbindungen sind am zuverlässigsten.
PoE gestattet die Spannungsversorgung
der Kamera von einem PoE Switch/
Router, sodass nur ein Ethernet-Kabel mit
der Kamera verbunden werden muss.
*Ein PoE Injector oder Switch, der 802.3af konform ist und eine Mindestleistung von 13 W pro Port hat, ist erforderlich.
