supplied. Note:The 2NStarPoint500 telephone can onlybe connectedtothe
dedicated socket.
Buttonnametags
Forautomaticnametag creation usethe PbXConfiguration Tool:onthebutton
settingsscreen click the “Prepareforprinting”button.Afterclicking thisbutton,the
pre-filled out print templatewillbe createdautomatically.
You can alsousethe emptytemplateincluded inthe telephone setpackage to
createnametagsforthe predefined programmablebuttons.

1.3Accessories
The 2NStarPoint500 telephonescan be enhanced withoptionalusercomfort
accessoriessuchasadditionalbuttonmodules,headsets,etc.Theadditional
accessoriesaretobe connected fromthe bottomof the telephone set.
Toadd morebuttons,you can add an assistantconsole(buttonKEY module)oran
operatorconsole(button BLFmodule)toyour2NStarPoint500 Standardand
Advance.Byconnectingtheseconsolesseriallyyou willobtainalargenumberof
additionalbuttons.Allbuttonson the consolescan be setup inthe samemanneras
the telephone programmablebuttons.

You can browsethe telephone menusand the telephone listsusing the“Forward”
and “Back” buttons.The selectbutton isused toselectthe specific
function.The “+” and “-“ buttonsareused tochangethe volumeofthe call
(receiverorloudspeaker).Anychangeofthevolumeremainseffectiveduringthe
call;the nextcallwillhavethe volumesetinthetelephone menu (orinthe
environment of the PbXConfiguration tool).

All2NStarPoint500telephones(exceptforthe Entrymodel)areequippedwitha
two-rowdisplay.Thedisplaycontractcan be adjusted.Fordescriptionofthedisplay
parametersetup refertochapter.
Default displaystatus:
Formorecomfort when using the2NStarPoint telephoneyou maytilt thedisplay.
Programmablebuttons
2NStarPoint500 telephonesareequipped withbuttons,whichareuser-
programmableinthe environmentofthe PbXconfiguration tool.The basicsetup of
the programmablebuttonsismade afterthe so-called HardwareRESETifthe
telephone setwasconnected tothe systemand alsobythe systemadministrator;
the usermayadjustthe buttonsetting according tohis/herneeds.Formore

2.1.Outgoing Calls
Pick up thereceiver. You willhearthedialing tone.
Dialanumber.
If you havethe telephone numberstoredinyourorgrouptelephone bookthe name
of the calledpartywillbedisplayedon yourtelephone’sdisplay.

The timeof the callwillbe displayed when thecalledpartyanswersthe call:
If the called partyisbusy you willhearthe busy tone andthe followingmessage will
appearon thedisplay:
You can alsodialthe numberfirst, and thenstart the callbypicking upthe receiver.
If the called partyhangsup during the call,the“callerhung-up”message willappear
on yourdisplay.
Tousethe hands-free functionpress thehands-free button (the
switching-on ofthehands-free function issignaledbythe hands-free button
indicator)insteadofpickingupthereceiver.Toterminatethe call pressthehands-
free button onemoretime.
Note:If the hands-free button hasnotbeen seton yourtelephone you can press the
selectbutton toturnonthe hands-free functionafterhaving dialed the number.

You can setthe programmablebuttonsforso-called one-touchdialing offrequently
called numbers. You can then dialthe telephone numberbypressing asinglebutton.
Forone-touchdialing setup seechapter ProgrammableButtonsSetup.
The telephonekeepsrecordsofmissed,incoming and outgoing calls,so-called list
ofcalls.Using theselistsyou can callthe partieswhomyou had alreadycalled or
who had calledyou.The listsofcallsareaccessiblethrough thetelephonemain
menu,byselecting the Listofcalls item.Inthe listsofcallsselectthe itemyou wish
tocallandpress theselectbutton(orpick upthe receiver)todialthe number.For
moreinformation oncallhistorysee chapter List of Calls.
Forsimplified calling you mayusethe telephonebook,whichisaccessiblebythe
programmablebutton .The telephone bookallowsyou tosearchitems
byname(orapart of the name); pick up the receiverorpress the select button to
dialthe selected telephone number.

2.2.Incoming Calls
Anincoming callisindicated on the telephone displaybythe caller’sname,
telephone number.The namesaredisplayedforthe numbersaccording toyour
personaltelephone book,oraccording tothe telephonebookassigned bythe
systemadministrator.
Toanswerthe call,pick upthe receiverorpress the selectbutton (orthe hands-
free button)–if you want tomakethe callinthehands-free mode.
To turndowntheringingvolume usethe “+” and “-“ buttons.
To rejectthecall useoneof thefollowing programmablefunction buttons:
-TRF transferthecalltoadefined assistant
-DND transferthe calltoan operator
-CANCEL reject the call
2.3.DuringtheCall
The calldurationisdisplayed duringthe call.
To changethe volume of the callusethe “+” and “-“ buttons.

Press thehands-freebutton toswitchtothe hands-free mode (the
hands-free button indicatorlightsup);turnthe hands-free mode bypressing the
button one moretime.
Toturnoff the microphonetemporarilyduringacall(ifyou donotwantthe callerto
hearyou)presstheMUTEfunctionbutton .The button indicatorwill light
up toindicatethatthe microphone isswitchedoff.
2.4.MainMenu
You can enterthemainmenu ofthetelephonebypressingthe“forward”button
orthe“back”button .Usethearrowkeys tobrowsethemenu items;enterthe
individualsub-menusbypressing the selectbutton .Toreturnquicklytothe
higherlevelof the menu set the“Back”programmablebutton .

Thischapterprovidesinstructionshowtosolvestandardsituations.
3.1.Set theProgrammableButtons
The programmablebuttonsonyourtelephone can besetup bythe PbX
configuration tool. Yoursystemadministratorwillperformthe setup.
Afteryou loginselectthe systemtelephone/buttonsiteminthe menu and fromthe
listdisplayedselectthe stationwhosebuttonsyou wishtoset. Clicktherespective
button onthe telephonepicturetodisplaythe screen forbutton setup.
You can assign one of the followingfunctionstothe button:
•Flash –ashort-timedisconnection;used forexamplefortransferring calls.
•Transfer –at idle=intercomtothe assistant, atringing=transferofringingtothe
assistant, during thecallafterFLASHand dialing tofinishthe transfer.
•Handsfree/Speakerphone –hands-free mode.
•Mute –temporarymicrophoneswitch-offduring the call.
•DND –atidle=immediateredirecting/cancellationofredirectingtooperator
(signaled bylitbuttonindicator), at ringing=transferofringingtooperator.
•PARK –puttingacallonhold(allowsyoutomakeanothercall andthenreturnto
the callon holdbypressing the button again)(signaled bylitbuttonindicator).
•CONF –functionforaddingacalltoaconference.
•Redial –list oflast-dialed numbers.
•Listofincomingcalls –access tothehistoryof incoming calls.
•Listofmissedcalls accesstothehistoryof missed calls.
•Telephonebook –access tothe telephone book(PBX line).
•Dialingasetnumber –one-touchdialing;the setnumberisdialedbypressing
the button.Occupation ofthe specificinternalline issignaledbylighting ofthe
button.
•Access toexternal port –press the button tooccupyand directlygo toaspecific
outgoing line; occupation ofthe line issignaledbylighting of the button.
•Log indepartment1-8 –long in/out the internalPBX linedepartments.
•New messages –direct access toVoiceMail.
•MEon/off –an option topermit/ban calling theMobilityExtension function
•Back (Escape) –rejectingacall,returntoahigherlevelofthe menu,deleting
telephone bookcharacters.

Whattodo: If youhavedefined the button foraccessing missed calls,
press thisbutton toaccess the list.
Otherwiseusethe “forward”button toaccess the mainmenu,usethe select
button toselect the List of call item; inthe listof callsusethe “forward”button
and the select button toselect the List of missed calls.
Nowthe listofmissed callsisdisplayed.Usethe “Forward” and “Back”
buttonstobrowsethe listitems.
Toselecttheitemyou wishtocallpick upthe receiverorpress the hands-free
button.

3.3.DialaPreviouslyCalledNumber
Todialapreviouslycalled numberusethe listofoutgoing calls.The telephone set
keepsrecordsofthe lasttwentycalls.
Whattodo: Fromthe defaultstatusof the telephone usethe“forward”button to
access the listofcalls;usethe “forward”button and the selectbutton to
selectthe numberscalled item.
Usethe “Forward” and “Back” buttonstobrowsethe listitems.
Todialthenumberpick up thereceiverorpress the hands-free button.
3.4.DialaPreviouslyCallingNumber
Whattodo: Enterthemainmenu,selectthe Listofcalls item,then select Received
calls.Selectthe recordyou wishtocallfromthe listofreceived calls.Pick up the
receiverorpress the hands-free button. Forquick access tothe list
ofreceived callsyou can setup aprogrammablebutton,see chapter Programmable
ButtonsSetup.
3.5.Reject anIncomingCall
Situation:Yourtelephoneisringing, youwanttorejectthecall
Whattodo: 1)Press the Escape button–The callerwillhearabusy
tone; thecallwillbe recordedinthe listof receivedcalls.
2)Press the TRF button –Thecallerwillbeimmediatelyredirected toyour
“assistant”.

temporarily
Whattodo: Press the programmablebutton withthe setMutefunction
toturnthe microphone off temporarily.
3.8.TransferaCall
Situation:Duringacall you wanttotransferthecallertoanothertelephone
number
Whattodo: Press the FLASH programmablebutton ,you willheara
dialing tone inthe receiver(the otherhearsthe on-holdmusicinthe receiver).Dial
the telephone number,towhichyou wishtotransferthecall.Aftergetting the ringing
tone press the TRF function buttonand hang up.Alternatively,you can waituntil the
callisanswered bythe calledparty(ifyou wanttospeakwiththe party,towhichthe
callisbeing transferred,beforethe transfer),press theTRFfunction button,and
afteryouhang up thepartieswillbe connected.
3.9.AddaCall toaConference
Situation:Duringacall youwanttoadd athirdpartytoaconference.

“Conference”withthe numberof linesparticipatingintheconference.
4. TelephoneFunctions
4.1.Lists ofCalls
The menu ofthe2NStarPoint500 digitalsystemtelephonesofferslistsofmissed,
received and outgoing calls. The telephone setkeepsrecordsofthelasttwentycalls
ineachlist. You can access the list of callsfromthe mainmenu and alsobypressing
asinglebutton usingthe programmablebuttons.
Signalingofmissedcalls
Setting abutton toaccess the callhistoryisconvenientespeciallyforthe listof
aftersettingup the button,missed callswillbe

4.2.ListofMissedCalls
The listofmissed callsoffersan overviewofthe lasttwentyincoming callsthatwere
not answered.
If you haveaprogrammablebutton setforaccess tothe listofmissed callsthe
indicatorofthisbutton signalsthe missed calls, ifany, byflashing.
Missed callssignalingisactiveuntilyou enterthe historyof missed calls.
4.3.ListofIncomingCalls
Displays the list of the last twentyreceived calls.
4.4.ListofOutgoing Calls
Displays the list of the last twentyoutgoing calls.
4.5.Internal TelephoneBook
It isalist of allinternalPbXlines.Withthe 2NStarPoint digitalsystemtelephone you
can searchthistelephone bookand simplycallthe itemsselected.Toaccess the
telephonebookfromthe systemtelephone itisnecessarytohaveaprogrammable
button setup; seechapter ProgrammableButtonsSetup.
Afterpressingthe button foraccess tothe telephone bookthe telephone displaywill
showthe searchline,the second line showsthe individualitemsofthe telephone
book. Usethe“Forward” and “Back” buttonstobrowsethe individualitems.
