HYPERBOLOID

THEATRE
SYSTEMS
For more than 25 years Aaron Loudspeakers has been produc-
ing speakers of the highest quality. Over the years we have
developed many different technologies that have been acknowl-
edged by the Government, the media and by our own industry.
With this rich heritage we set about designing a very special
range of speakers that pioneers new boundaries in loudspeaker
performance and utilizes ground breaking innovative technology.
However we didn’t just rely on technology we were meticulous in
every facet, paying attention to every minute detail like never
done before.
At the heart of our new Hyperboloid speaker range is our
Hyperboloid technology. Technology that took us more than six
years to fully develop due to its complexities and the meticulous
attitude we took to the design process. The word “Hyperboloid”
mathematically describes the three dimensional shape of the
speaker cone. By using this new type of cone we have achieved
several advantages. When first looked at the most obvious
feature is that this type of speaker cone has no dust cap. No
dust cap means, no foreign object present on the cone’s surface
to produce spurious sounds which cause spectral contamina-
tion. The next striking feature is the cone edge treatment, the roll
surround, is half covered by a trim ring which allows for the better
integration of cone to baffle. Conventional speakers have a bump
caused by the roll surround and a groove between the surround
roll and the trim ring causing wind noise as the air rushes across
the bump and groove. Our configuration has a gap of only 2mm,
of course wind noise is still generated, but due to the much
narrower gap the frequency band is shifted well out of the human
hearing range to 170,000 Hertz. The third and most unique
feature is the Hyperboloid cone shape. When the cone is viewed
as a cross section the shape is in fact an exponential mathemati-
cal progression. This means that each increment of the cones
shape is different from the last and as a result no one single
frequency or frequency range is empathized over another.
The HMF-600 is a wide range floor
standing double 6.5 inch three way
speaker. As a result of their extraordi-
nary linearity regards frequency
response, distortion and electrical
characteristics they are a superb two
channel speaker. They are capable of
reproducing even the most demanding
passages of music with aplomb
creating an image which is unmistak-
ably real and accurate. Home Theatre
sounds can also be reproduced with
ease since they are robustly
constructed and have a wide dynamic
range making it possible for them to
reproduce even the most rigorous of
sound effects.
Both the HCC-300 and HCC-600 use our already highly acclaimed “Anti Lobe Configura-
tion” (ALC). This technology eliminates phase cancellation that occurs in standard centre
channels. Phase cancellation is caused when the relative distance changes between two
drive units in the overlapping frequency range. When you move just slightly to one side of a
conventional centre channel speaker a complex series of wave additions and cancellations
are set up causing a general deterioration of sound quality. We have eliminated this
problem with some innovative new technology called “ALC”. “ALC” works
by combining a scientifically calculated spacing pattern between speaker
components with specially selected crossover frequencies. In this way we
make affected wave lengths longer and proportional spacing shorter
eliminating the margin for error. The HCC-300 is small and perfect for those
circumstances where space is critical ont the other hand the HCC-600 is the ultimate full range centre channel.

THE ULTIMATE IN RELIABILITY, PREFORMANCE AND TECHNOLOGY
While the Hyperboloid cone is in its piston range the deep bass
is enhanced by a flared cone coupling system between the voice
coil and the cone. This structure is very rigid mechanically
because the moving assembly is strengthened by the inclusion
of this flared coupler. Not only, does the coupler enhance
mechanical strength because it joins the cone at one third of its
circumference, but also the lines of force are bent into a direction
parallel with the cones surface eliminating frequency doubling.
Used with our Hyperboloid technology is Vifa’s XT technology.
The philosophy behind this tweeter is consistent with our
Hyperboloid technology. There is no centre dome section to
cause dome breakup producing spectral contamination. It also
has a dual suspension “M” roll construction which has two
advantages, one; that the effective mass of the diaphragm is very
low allowing a useable frequency response of up to 90KHz and,
two; the suspension generates much less distortion. Having a
phase plug in place of a center dome also reduces phase
cancellation and greatly improves dispersion.
Because of the wide range linearity of the speaker drivers we are
able to use the most ideal type of crossover without any negative
side effects. These crossovers are first order filters which are
superior due to their low distortion and phase cohesion. Where
applicable, all the midrange circuits are separated both
physically and electrically to completely eliminate crosstalk and
interference between the midrange, woofer and tweeter. Yet
another bonus of the driver/crossover combination is that these
speakers present a very stable electrical load which guarantees
optimum amplifier performance.
In similar fashion to the drivers and crossovers, meticulous
attention has been given to the cabinet construction. Musical
speakers don’t produce unwanted sound from either the cabinet
walls or the vent. To accomplish this, the hyperboloid cabinets
have thick VDFB walls with an extensive bracing matrix (where
required) and zero turbulence vents. Variable density fiber board
“VDFB” is a new material that not only stops wall vibration but
also eliminates sound transference. Curved edges front and
back of the cabinet have been used to eliminate standing waves
and sound diffraction.
For surround sound the HSS-600 bi pole is at the pinnacle. In order for surround speakers to
function perfectly they must pass several criteria. Apart from high power handing, a flat frequency
response and low distortion they must have a radiation pattern, such, that when compared with the
direct sound the indirect sound has the same intensity. In other words the sound arrives at your
ears equally from the side, rear and front walls, tricking the human ear into believing there is a wall
of sound rather than a point source. The HSS-600 is a high powered purpose built model with a
perfect polar response, genuine wide frequency range, extremely linear frequency response and
low distortion. In short, it fits all the aforementioned criteria perfectly and we are certain it is the very
best on the market.
Last but by no means least, is the HSS-300. This
model is a small, versatile satellite speaker which
can be used as small main fronts, surround
sounds or near field studio monitors. These
speakers may be minuscule in size but they still
produce the highest quality sound despite their
small visual impact. Our SW-200 and SW-400,
with their specially tailored filters, are designed to
integrate seamlessly with these satellites to
produce a rich, full range sound even when
used to reproduce the most demanding home
theatre or two channel music.

Did we achieve our goals? From an objective point of view a resounding yes! Never
before has an audio laboratory measured such low distortion and linearity. From a
subjective point of view? We are very confident your own ears will tell you a definite yes!
