Thank you for purchasing the Accusound AMA-1 acoustic amplifier.
Please read the enclosed information. This will help you to
understandtheproductinwhichyouhaveinvestedandenableyouto

Please take note of the safety warnings and as with all electrical

There are no user serviceable parts. All remedial work should be
referredbacktoAccusound.
Always protect your amplifier from damp. Any moisture on the
cabinetshouldbeimmediatelydriedusingaclothtopreventanyfrom
enteringtheproductthroughconnectorsocketsorotherpoints.
This unit must only be used with mains supply that has a protective
earthconnection.

The amplifier is intended to be used with microphones or pickups with an XLR or
1/4"jackplugconnector. Phantom power maybeswitchedonandoff using a front
panel button. Similarly the input sensitivity may be changed using a front panel
button,allowinguseofmanydifferentinstrumentpickuporCDplayers.
The front panel also allows independent volume control along with overall system
volume. Three band tone control is available on each channel plus a parametric
controltoallowselectiveenhancementorreductionofaparticularfrequency.
There are 16 different reverberation programs available. Both channels must use
the same reverberation channel, however the level of reverberation may be
adjustedoneachchannelindependently fromnonetomax.
If this is insufficient, external effects may be added by use of the send and return
socketsontheamplifier.
There is also a headphone socket with independent volume control to allow
personallisteningormonitoring.
The DI output is selectable between pre and post main volume control so a clean
signalmaybesenttoyourmainamplificationsystemifyouareusingtheAMA-1for
monitoring.
There are clipping indicators on each input, plus the output, to indicate when you
are approaching the overload limit of the amplifier. (Green indicates good signal
level,Redindicatesclosetoclippinglevel,noLEDilluminationindicatesaverylow
inputlevel.)

The AMA-1 has many useful professional features to help you make the most of
yourplaying.
Phantompower(12v)isindependentlyswitchableoneachchannel.
Three band tone equalisation control. Bass, treble and mid control give you
completecontrolofyourmusicandhelpstooptimiseyoursurroundings.
Parametric control on each channel. 10dB boost or cut, adjustable, of any
frequency in the lower registers, adjustable by the frequency knob. The width or
spreadofthisboostorcutisalsoadjustableusingthewidthknob.
16 programs of reverberation available on both channels. Programs from simple
springreverbtomoreelaborate“slowdeepflangewithreverb”.Thealgorithmsfor
these reverbs have been developed by world famous programmers and are
availableonmanyprofessionalpiecesofequipment.Thelevelofthereverbadded
toeachchannelmaybeadjustedindependently.
Effects send and return are available to allow addition of standard effects pedals
and other outboard equipment, making your AMA-1 as fully expandible as you
wish.
The balanced DI output allows a clean signal to be sent to your main amplification
system if you are using your AMA-1 as a stage monitor. The DI output signal is
switchablefrompretopostmainvolumecontrol.

Before switching on your amplifier, ensure all volume controls are at minimum
and connect all inputs and outputs.
Your instrument or microphone should be connected to input 1 or 2, each have
the same facilities so you may chose either and achieve the full use of the
amplifier.
Input 1 & 2 connectors:
These XLR/Jack input connectors will accept either 3pin male XLR connectors
or 1/4" (6.35mm) jack plugs. The input sensitivity is the same whichever
connector is used but may be switched using the 0/-20dB button. Phantom
power may be applied to the XLR connector, no effect will be noticed if the
phantom power button is on when you use the 1/4" jack connection.
Gain:
This control changes the input level taken from your instrument/microphone. To
get the most out of your amplifier it is best to use this control at as high a level
as possible whilst still maintaining the sound you want.
Frequency/width/level:
These controls adjust the parametric tone control on each channel. This control
allows you to make a tone control that operates on any frequency you desire.
First select the frequency by adjusting the FREQUENCY knob, counter-
clockwise for low frequency and clock-wise for high frequency.
Next adjust the boost or cut of this frequency using the LEVEL knob, counter-
clockwise for cut and clock-wise for boost.
Finally adjust the width of the control or the number of frequencies around the
selected frequency by adjusting the WIDTH knob, counter-clockwise for
narrower or fewer frequencies and clock-wise for wider or more frequencies.
This process may need to be repeated to optimise the effect you are trying to
achieve. This is particularly useful if the room in which you are playing or the
instrument you have has a particularly strong resonance at any frequency.
If you do not want to use this facility simply adjust the LEVEL knob to the
central position, a click stop is in the centre so it is easily found, and the filter
will have no effect.

Bass/Mid/Treble:
This three band tone control provides boost or cut in the three bands, BASS for
low frequencies and TREBLE for the higher notes. The MID knob allows the
middle band to be adjusted in a similar manner giving a much higher degree of
control over the sound you produce.
Reverberation:
This control allows selection of the 16 in-built reverberation programs. The
numbers correspond to the list of effects on the lower front panel. Both
channels must have the same reverberation program but the level of
reverberation is independently adjustable on each channel.
Reverb Level:
This adjusts the level of reverberation on each channel, there are controls for
channel 1 for channel 2. These allow full control from zero to maximum
effect.
Power indicator:
The green LED indicates that the amplifier is on and working
correctly.
Clip indicators:
There are three CLIP indicators, one for each channel input and
one for the main output. When one of the input indicators
illuminates RED, this indicates that the input signal may be too
high and may cause the amplifier to distort. These indicators are
set to give the user plenty of warning so if the indicator only
illuminates occasionally and no distortion is heard, then there is no need to
take action. If you feel you should take action then either reduce the input by
turning down the signal arriving at the amplifier input if this is possible, i.e. if the
signal is from another device like a CD player etc. Alternatively select the “0"
Volume:
This is the main output volume control. This will adjust the output
level of both channels simultaneously. To get the best out of your
amplifier this control should be used in conjunction with the GAIN
knobs, the GAIN knobs should be as high as possible whilst still
maintaining the sound quality thus allowing the VOLUME control
to be as low as possible.

If the output CLIP indicator illuminates RED, then the volume control knob
should be turned counter-clockwise. Again this indicator gives the user plenty of
warning that the level is approaching overload, if distortion is not heard then no
action is required but be aware that if the level increases yet further then
distortion may occur.
All clip indicators will remain unlit if a low signal is present and will illuminate
GREEN when a good working signal level is present. They will turn RED when
the signal is approaching clip level.
0/-20dB button:
This button changes the sensitivity of the input. When the button is out the
channel is in its lower sensitivity and will be quieter but will take a higher input
level, as may be expected if a CD player or similar is connected. When the
button is pressed in, the sensitivity is increased and will become louder, this is
suitable for microphones and other lower level signals.
Phantom Power button:
When pressed, this button applies 12v phantom power to the respective input,
the orange indicator is also illuminated. The two channels may have phantom
power applied independently. Phantom power is only applied to the XLR
connector, when a jack plug is connected and phantom power is on then no
power is applied to the input.
Phones socket:
This will accept standard stereo headphones, the amplifier is mono so left and
right will have the same signal.
Phones Level knob:
This will adjust the level going to headphones when connected. This control is
independent of the main volume control so the main speaker may be turned to
off and the phones may still have full volume.
Effects Send socket (FX Send):
This socket will allow connection of external effect units or pedals. This takes
the signal before the main volume control but after all other controls.
Effects Return socket (FX Rtn):
This return socket takes the signal back from the external effects unit or pedal.
DI Out socket:
This socket allows the output signal to go to an external amplification system.
The signal is taken from after all controls but before the main volume control.
