This Quick Start Guide provides the basic steps required
for the installation, wiring and start-up of the AFM5000
and the AFM5001 Air Flow Monitors, when used with the
AccuValve AVC5000 controller. For details, refer to the
individual product Submittal Drawings, User Manuals and
Job-Specific Requirements.
APPLICATION
The AFM5000 connects directly to the
AccuValve AVC5000 control module and
gives the user a local Airflow Volume
Display and Alarm Indication. The
AFM5000 also gives the user the ability
to “plug in” to the AVC5000 controller
remotely to monitor and adjust the
AVC5000 using Accutrol’s Insight User
Interface from a convenient location.
The AFM5000 can also be provided with
a set point adjustment dial to change the
airflow set point in the AVC controller.
WIRING
Route the Monitor Cable from the back of the electrical box to
the location of the AVC5000 control enclosure and insert the
Monitor Cable into the Monitor Cable receptacle. Anchor the
cable to the strain relief with a cable tie.
For applications using the AFM5001, the yellow pig tail on the
Monitor Cable is connected to AI-1 (+). The jumper for AI-1 is
set to “R” to configure the input.
INSTALLATION
The AFM5000 is designed to be installed into a single-gang
electrical box, with the minimum internal dimensions of 3.825”H
x 2.35”W to accommodate the set point adjustment knob on the
AFM5001 and the additional wires.
Once the properly sized box is
installed, route the Monitor Cable
into the electrical box and use a
strain relief to prevent the cable
from being damaged. In the case
where an AFM5001 is installed,
connect the yellow pigtail on the
end of the cable with a wire nut
to the yellow wire that extends
from the back of the display
module.
Secure the AFC5000 to the
electrical box using the two
screws provided.
Connections to the AVC5000 Control Module will vary
depending on the application requirements. The diagram
below is provided as a general reference only. For detailed
wiring requirements, refer to the job specific submittal wiring
diagrams and AVC5000 Manual.
