Introductory Information
Carefully read all instructions prior to use. Observe all warnings and precautions
noted throughout these instructions.
Cautions & Warnings
• The battery charger comes with a power supply designed for the specifications of the
battery charger. Do not use any other power supply unless it is supplied by Advanced
Bionics. If needed, call Advanced Bionics for a power supply replacement.

• Do not leave children unattended with, or allow children to play with the battery charger
or battery.
• Do not allow children to place the battery charger or battery in the mouth.
• Do not dispose of batteries in fire as they may explode.
• To prevent injury or burns, do not allow metal objects, such as keys or coins, to contact or
short circuit the battery terminals. Chorus batteries may present risk of fire or chemical
burn if mistreated. Do not disassemble. Do not heat above 100˚C/212˚F or incinerate.
• Power supplies and battery chargers should be operated in an open area to ensure
adequate airflow. While no injury cases have resulted, components may become hot
during normal use or a fault condition. If the device’s temperature results in discomfort
or pain when touched, disconnect the power source and contact your cochlear implant
professional.
• Remove batteries from your sound processor when they are discharged to prevent
damage from possible leaking.
• If a battery shows visible signs of leakage, dispose of it in accordance with local
regulations, as detailed in the “Rechargeable Battery Disposal” section of this
document.
• Do not allow leaking battery fluid to come into contact with skin, mouth, or eyes.
• Do not expose batteries to heat (e.g., do not store in direct sunlight or in a hot car).

• Carry batteries in the carrying case provided or in a sealed plastic bag. Batteries can short
circuit if they come into contact with metallic objects such as coins or keys.
• Do not immerse batteries directly in water.
• Only charge batteries using the charger(s) recommended by the manufacturer.
• If any parts are swallowed consult a physician or hospital immediately.
Intended Use
The Chorus Battery is intended to power the Advanced Bionics’ Chorus Sound
Processor. It is designed exclusively for the Chorus Sound Processor.
The Chorus Battery Charger is intended to recharge 1 or 2 Chorus Batteries at a
time. It is designed exclusively for Chorus Batteries.
Description of the Device
The Chorus Battery is a Lithium ion rechargeable battery. It is only compatible
with the Chorus Sound Processor and the Chorus Battery Charger.

Batteries are shipped at a half charge or less. A charging cycle is needed to fully
charge the battery before use.
The battery charger has LED indicators which provide status information on the
charger and the charging process. The battery charger operates on a 6V at 3A
power supply. It is only compatible with the Chorus Battery and the power supplies
provided by Advanced Bionics.

Operating Information
Insert the small connector of the power supply directly into the power supply input
of the battery charger. Do not push or pull at an angle.

Charging LEDs
There are 3 indicator lights on the battery charger: one next to the power supply input,
and one at each charging bay.
The colors of these lights, and their meaning are defined in the following table:

Charging a battery
To charge a battery, set it into the charging bay with the battery contact end fac-
ing down and toward the center of the battery charger.

It takes approximately 5 hours to recharge a fully depleted battery; however, the
battery can be removed at any point in the charging process. A battery does not
have to be fully depleted to be placed in the battery charger.
Attaching and Removing the Battery
To attach the Chorus Battery to the sound processor, slide it onto the Chorus
Sound Processor, as shown below, until the latch on the battery engages with the
sound processor.

Cleaning & Maintenance
The battery charger and battery contacts should be kept free from dirt and dust.
Dirty contacts can result in battery charger and battery malfunction. Clean the
contacts at least once a month using a dry cotton swab.
It is recommended that you use and/or recharge the Chorus Battery at least once
every 3 months. As with all Lithium batteries, the Chorus Battery will decrease in
capacity with age, even if not in use.

User Assistance Information
In the event that you experience any issues with your product, please contact your
cochlear implant professional or the manufacturer. Do not attempt to service or
modify your product as doing so may compromise system performance and will
void the manufacturer’s warranty. Products should be serviced only at Advanced
Bionics.
Rechargeable Battery Disposal
For proper disposal of rechargeable batteries in Europe, please return depleted
batteries to the nearest AB location or your cochlear implant professional.
In the United States and Canada, please call the Rechargeable Battery
Recycling Corporation hotline at 877.273.2925 or visit their website at
www.call2recycle.org.

Avertissements et mises en garde
• Votre chargeur de batteries est fourni avec une alimentation adaptée aux caractéristiques
du chargeur. N’utilisez pas d’autres alimentations que celles fournies par Advanced Bionics.
Si besoin, contactez Advanced Bionics pour faire remplacer le chargeur.
• Empêchez les enfants de jouer avec les batteries et évitez de laisser les enfants jouer avec
le chargeur de batteries ou la batterie.
• Ne laissez pas les enfants mettre le chargeur de batteries ou la batterie dans leur
bouche.
• Les batteries ne doivent pas être jetées au feu, car elles risquent d’exploser.
• Pour éviter tout accident ou brûlure, ne laissez pas des objets métalliques, telles que des
clés ou des pièces de monnaie, entrer en contact ou court-circuiter les bornes de la batterie.
Les batteries Chorus peuvent provoquer un incendie ou des brûlures chimiques si elles sont
utilisées de manière inadéquate. Ne les démontez pas. Ne les chauffez pas à plus de 100 °C
(212 °F) et ne les incinérez pas.

• Faites fonctionner les alimentations électriques et les chargeurs de batteries dans un
espace ouvert pour garantir une circulation de l’air suffisante. Les composants du système
peuvent chauffer lors d’une utilisation normale ou en cas de dysfonctionnement sans
pour autant entraîner de blessures. Si la température du dispositif vous incommode ou si
vous ressentez une douleur quand vous le portez, débranchez la source d’alimentation et
contactez votre professionnel de l’implantation cochléaire.
• Retirez les batteries déchargées de votre processeur de son pour éviter tout risque
d’endommagement par fuite d’une batterie.
• Si une batterie présente des signes de fuite visibles, éliminez-la conformément aux
règlementations locales et à la procédure décrite dans la section « Mise au rebut des
batteries rechargeables » de ce document.
• Veillez à éviter tout contact entre le liquide provenant d’une fuite de batteries et la peau,
la bouche et les yeux.
• Évitez toute exposition des batteries à la chaleur (par ex., évitez de les exposer
directement à la lumière du soleil ou de les conserver dans une voiture au soleil).
• Transportez les batteries dans l’étui de transport fourni ou dans un sac en plastique fermé.
