2-2 InGaAs Sensor’s Characteristics
InGaAs sensor has unique characteristics and limitations
accordingly, and while using SWIR camera you may see
the phenomenon as described below due to the sensor’s
characteristic and operating principles.
※This chapter is describing about InGaAs sensor and
some of contents are not relevant to camera’s
specification.
Blooming
When shooting a bright light source, the source of
the light may appear as a bright halo around the
highlight.
Horizontal Smear
When shooting a bright light source, it may appear
the horizontal stripe.
Blooming & Smear
Aliasing
It comes especially with continuous(geometrc) model
such as stripes, line, etc., and makes moire patterns
or jaggies in the image.
Defect Pixel
It is the pixel that does not have linearity in regard to
light intensity to video level. Generally, InGaAs
sensor has more defect pixels compared to Si
Sensor.
Black Spot
This is the pixel that output luminance is lower than
surrounding pixels, and it is caused by that the
electron is leaked to the pixels top or down, left or
right.
White Spot
This is the pixel that output luminance is lower than
surrounding pixels, and it may appear with long
exposure.
Other Pixel Defect
・Several defect spots adjacent each other
(Cluster defect)
・Linearity of output luminance is considerably low.
・Defect pixels appear on specific frame only.
White Spot & Black Spot
Video Level & Light Intensity
White Pixel
Occasionally white pixel may appear caused by cosmic
ray. This comes with the principle of InGaAs sensor’s
operation.
Horizontal Channel Difference
The sensor is able to output by 2 or 4 channels at once.
In case of this operation, it may cause luminance level
difference horizontally due to each channel’s
performance. This case is resolved by shading
correction function.
Etc.,
In case of using the camera under one of below
environment, it may occur degradation of image quality.
・Operation in high temperature
・Gain offset
・Long Exposure
NOTE
When the bright light source is exposed to the sensor, it
makes the image darker. Bright light direct exposure may
cause sensor damage. So, avoid the sensor to be
exposed such light or adjust the light intensity by lens.

2-6 Image Correction Functions
The camera performs various image corrections as shown
below.
2-7 Acquisition Control & Trigger
Acquisition Control is the function to control GPI/GPO
signal and exposure synchronization for triggering signal
to the camera.
Acquisition Control
By Acquisition Control, it starts and stops image
acquisition, controls frame rate & grabbing number of
frames, exposure time.
Sensor’s exposure timing is generated from the triggers
out from each function’s block and internal timer.
The camera supports two exposure mode as below.
・Timed
Fixed exposure time mode
Exposure is implemented by synchronizing the trigger
signal or according to frame rate of the camera.
・Trigger Width
Exposure is implemented by synchronizing the trigger
signal for its valid time.
Digital IO Control
Digital IO Control is an upper layer block organizing the
interfaces including Line, CC described below.
Line
Line is a control block for GPI, GPO signal.
CC
CC is a control block for CC1~4 via Camera Link interface.
It is equipped with CameraLink version camera only.

3. Connection
3-1 GigE Setting
3-1-1 Network Setting
In order to connect the camera to the network, address of
the following items must be configured with the proper
value.
・IP Address
・Subnet Mask
・Default Gateway
Network address configuration can be done by one of the
following three methods.
①Use of Persistent IP
: User-specified IP
②Use of DHCP
: DHCP server automatically assigns IP
③Use of Link Local Address(LLA)
: Camera automatically assigns IP
Use of Persistant IP
In case IP address which will be used for the camera is
already fixed, Persistent IP can be used, and subnet mask
and default gateway setting should also be required.
Use of DHCP
The camera can be configured the IP address with DHCP
server. In case of DHCP mode, subnet mask and default
gateway configuration can also be done automatically.
Use of LLA
In case of not using Persistent IP and IP address cannot
be configured by DHCP server, the user can configure IP
by LLA mode as well. In this mode, IP is assigned as
169.254.XXX.ZZZ, and XXX and ZZZ are automatically
assigned.
In addition to the above items, following network setting
can be set.
・Packet Size
・Packet Delay
Packet Size
NOTE
It is possible to set the size per packet when the image
data is transmitted. In order to run the camera properly,
the packet size should be the same or less than MTU of
the network device.
Packet Delay
Packet delay is the time delay between when a packet of
data goes from one place to another, and the user can set
this value. If increasing packet delay, data bandwidth rate
can be reduced and it may result in reducing frame rate as
well.
NOTE
・Persistent IP address can be set arbitrarily. However,
depending on the host PC, it may not be able to detect
the camera. In this case, it requires to reset Persistent IP
by the tool forcing IP address.
Network Setting Reset
The network settings can be reset to the factory default
settings by the following manner.
1. Set DIP switch No. 2 On.
2. Power On
3. After restarting the camera, be sure to set DIP switch
No.2 Off

3-2 PC Network Configuration
3-2-1 Network Adapter
Go to control panel to see the network connection and
open property of network adapter.
3-2-2 Network Adapter Property
When the property window is displayed, click Configure
button.
3-2-3 Jumbo Packet
Go to Advanced tab and find Jumbo Packet and set it to
9014 bytes for your NIC(Network Interface Controller). If
you do not set jumbo packet, it may occur decreasing
frame rate or other limitation.

3-3 Camera Link Configuration
3-3-1 Communication Settings
CameraLink camera is configured by RS-232C protocol
via serial port assigned to a CameraLink frame grabber.
It is done by asynchronous serial communication by
start-stop transmission and its transfer control
specification is indicated below. Echoback is activated
against the command input, and it does not matter to send
the commands start whether with uppercase or
lowercase.

3-3-2 Camera Control Software
Camera parameter setting is done by sending commands
via serial interface, and it requires the installation of
software named Tera Term for serial communication.
3-3-3 Serial Port Configuration
After starting Tera Term, go up to Setup > Serial Port.
You'll see a window pop up with a lot of familiar looking
serial port settings. Adjust as shown below and click "OK".
・Port :Comport number assigned to Camera
Link Interface
・Baud rate : 115200bps(Camera default)
・Data :8bit(fixed)
・Parity :none(fixed)
・Stop :1bit(fixed)
・Flow control :none(fixed)
3-3-4 Terminal Setup
Go to Setup menu and select Terminal on the menu, and
you will see the window as shown below, then set Receive
to CR+LF, Transmit to CR.
3-3-5 Connection Confirmation
When Tera Term setting is completed, hit Enter key. If the
Tera Term terminal window shows OK>, now it is all set to
communicate with the camera.

3-4 GPIO Connection
GPI, GPO access is available on 12-pin power connector.
In case of connecting an external device to GPI, GPO,
read carefully of the circuit’s details before use. It must be
supporting the following specification, otherwise it may
cause failure or damage to the product.
3-4-1 GPI [1] Circuit Specification
Pin 4-5 is assigned for GPI[0], Pin 6-7 is assigned for
GPI[1]. GPI[0]/GPI[1] allow to be input either EIA-422 or
TTL. In case of using TTL input to GPI[0]/GPI[1], do not
connect to pin 4/6 and input TTL signal to pin 5/7.
In case of using an external device connecting to
GPI[0]/GPI[1], please refer to the following circuit details.
