Instructions to fit the Snorkel Kit S009
for the Chevrolet Silverado or GMC Sierra
1.0 Introduction
Airflow Vector Pty Ltd thanks you for your purchase and the trust you put in our
products.
We strive to supply our customers with the highest quality equipment based on
the most efficient design and best styling. We are confident that you will enjoy
using our Snorkel system.
It should improve the power of your vehicle as well as reduce its fuel
consumption.
1.1 General instructions
Follow carefully the instructions listed on these pages and use the template
provided, do not over tighten bolts. Do not use silicone on any connections,
use mastic.
Ensure that safe work practices are followed when installing your Airflow
Snorkel. Protective ear and eye wear should be worn at all times when using
power tools.
1.2 Disclaimer
It is highly recommended that installation is undertaken by a qualified
mechanic or body shop. Airflow Vector will not be held responsible for any
damage incurred through incorrect fitment of the templates and workmanship.
It is the responsibility of the fitter to ensure that particular care is taken when
assembling the Snorkel kit to the vehicle as it may cause damage to the
windscreen and or electrical components. Safe work practices must be used at
all times when undergoing installation.
We guarantee Airflow Vector’s kits against manufacturing defects as long as
proof of purchase can be established.
All models produced by Airflow Snorkels are verified to suit right hand drive
vehicles according to Australian specifications. Variations in vehicle
specifications may occur in other markets.

the engine bay, air filter housing and of the vehicle at frontal/side position to

2.1 List of tools and additional parts required
Masking tape, clear tape, black mastic, hammer, centre punch
Assorted screw drivers, sockets and spanners
5” hole saw
Assorted drill set, wet / dry sand paper, ½ round file, small square file,
Zinc rich primer
3.0 Detailed Instructions
3.1 Prior starting any work,
ensure that the configuration
of the air box is as shown. If it
is not, the fitting of this kit will
not be possible. Contact your
dealer for further assistance
3.2 Remove the cover of the air
filter
3.3 De-assemble the air box and
remove it from the engine bay 3.4 Disconnect the battery and
remove its lock

3.5 Remove the battery 3.6 Un-fasten the coolant bottle
3.7 Shift the coolant bottle
towards the front of the
engine bay
3.8 Shift the cable harness as
far as possible from the
inner fender
3.9 Measure 4” from the lip of the
engine bay 3.10 Measure 4” from the edge of
the hole in the engine bay

3.12 Centre punch this location 3.13 Pre-drill this location at ¼”
3.14 Using the hole saw, drill at
LOW SPEED a 5” hole
3.15 GO SLOW, otherwise you
may damage the fender when
getting through
3.16 File the edge of the hole to
remove any bur.
3.17 Take SPECIAL CARE of the
filing, you will have to slide
your arm in this hole to
tighten the nuts
3.18 Locate the sound barrier
inside the fender 3.19 By pushing through the 5”
hole recently drilled, remove
the sound barrier

3.20 Cut around the template
following the fender lines 3.21 Cut the intermediate sticking
locations
3.22 Line up the template to the
edge of fender
3.23 Following a left to right and
top to bottom sequence, tape
the intermediate sticking
locations
3.24 Centre punch all marked
holes
3.25 Pre-drill all holes at ¼” (11
snorkel mounting holes, 1
hole saw hole)…
3.26 … then drill the 11 fixation
holes at 3/8”

3.27 Using the hole saw, drill at
LOW SPEED one 5” hole 3.28 File the edge of the hole to
remove any bur.
3.29 Inside the engine bay, draw a
line vertical along the edge of
the hole
3.30 Mark a point 1” from this line
3.31 Pre-drill this location at ¼” 3.32 Using the hole saw, drill at
LOW SPEED a 5” hole
3.33 GO SLOW, otherwise you
may damage the fender
when getting through

3.34 Mark a point 1.5 ” from the
vertical line
3.35 Pre-drill this location at ¼”
3.36 Using the hole saw, drill at
LOW SPEED a 5” hole
3.37 GO SLOW, otherwise you
may damage the fender
when getting through
3.38 Join the edges of the two
holes with a line 3.39 Grind away the excess
material
3.40 Then grind away the bottom
left corner to achieve this
shape….
3.41 … then grind away the top
left corner to achieve this
shape
3.42 File the holes to remove any
burr

3.43 Paint ALL raw metal surfaces
with Zinc rich primer (11
snorkel fixing holes, 1 air
intake hole, 2 access hole)
3.44 Peel off the door rubber seal
3.45 Remove the windscreen
lining strip
3.46 Fit all the studs and secure
them with a locking
compound
3.47 Pre fit the snorkel to the
fender to allow the marking
of the “A” pillar bracket
3.48 Fit the “A” pillar bracket
SP189 with the washer
SP023 and bolt SP024
Do not over tighten fixings to
avoid damage to the snorkel
3.49 Mark to holes of the “A” pillar
bracket onto the paint
3.50 Remove the snorkel

Note: This Snorkel is fitted with a second “A” pillar location to be installed
if one intends to use the Collector Pre-Cleaner instead of the Air Ram. If
required, please contact us to obtain the Bolt Kit SK233
3.51 Centre punch the 2 holes 3.52 Pre-drill at 5/32” the two
holes
3.53 Drill the two holes for the “A”
pillar position at 9/32” 3.54 File the holes with a square
file to suit nylon plugs SP026
3.55 Paint the two holes with Zinc
rich primer
3.56 Once the paint is dry, fit the
two square plugs SP026
3.57 Temporarily refit the
windscreen lining strip
3.58 Refit the snorkel with the “A”
pillar bracket and mark the
location of the bracket on the
lining strip

3.59 Remove the lining strip and
drill at the edge of the marks
3.60 Using a utility knife, cut a
slot to join the two holes
3.61 Slide the strip on the “A” pillar
bracket
3.62 Secure the bracket SP189
with the screws SP029
3.63 Re-secure the lining strip
3.64 Refit the rubber seal
3.65 Secure the snorkel with
washers SP025 (x11) and
nuts SP027 (x11) to the
fender
Do not over tighten fixings to
avoid damage to the snorkel
3.66 Cut the edge of the air box… 3.67 …to achieve this shape

3.68 Please wear gloves
3.69 Use only NON SILICONE
BASE black mastic as sealant
3.70 Smear some sealant inside
both ends of the TPR Hose
SP192
3.71 Slide one hose clamp SP190
at each end
3.72 Connect the SP186 to one
end of the TPR hose
3.73 Tighten the hose clamp
SP190 to secure the
connector SP186
3.74 Slide the assembly in the
engine bay and connect it to
the snorkel
3.75 Slide the hose clamp SP191
on the connector SP186 3.76 Connect the air box to the
SP186 and secure the hose

3.77 Secure the air box
3.78 Re-install the battery 3.79 Re-secure the coolant bottle
3.80 Slide the hose clamp SP157
on the air ram SP187 then
slide it on the snorkel SP185
3.81 Ensure that the top of the
snorkel matches the top of
the slot cut in the Air Ram
3.82 Drill the hose clamp next to
the worm drive
3.83 Secure the Air Ram with the
self tapping screw SP029

Important note: Do not turn the Air Ram away from the direction of
travel because it will lessen the positive pressure necessary for proper
operation. In extreme situation, at speed above 15mph (25km/h) a
vacuum may be generated causing irreversible engine damage
3.84 Polish with silicone cleaner
