Manual
The user manual of the device is constantly updated. The manual may change depending on the software version of your
device. You can always find the user manual for the latest software version online. When your device is connected to the
Internet, you always have the latest software version.
Starting the device
When connecting the device to the mains for the first time, the device starts working immediately (manual mode, speed 5).
Every time the device is connected to the mains, the device checks the operation of all sensors and functions. The device can
perform a calibration of the fans by running them at maximum speed for a moment. The maximum duration of actions is 3
minutes. After the operations, the device will resume normal operation. When the power supply is interrupted and restored, the
device repeats the previous operations. The settings entered by the user are saved in the memory and the device continues to
work with the previous setting.
Stopping or turning off the device
There are two ways to stop ventilation:
1. Switch the device to MANUAL operating mode from the control panel or mobile application and set the fans to speed
0.
2. Select the “Turn Off” feature on the remote or mobile app. In the off state, the device is in standby mode.
Steps to turn off your device:
●Stop the operation of the ventilation unit by selecting the "Shutdown" function on the control panel or in the mobile
application.
●Unplug the device from the power supply.
It is not recommended to stop or turn off the device even if you plan to be away for a longer period of time. If there is a
possibility that there may be condensate water in the device or the heat exchanger, the device must not be stopped for a
period longer than 24 hours , otherwise standing water may damage the heat exchanger. If the device needs to be stopped
for a longer period, the heat exchanger must be removed and dried.
During maintenance, filter replacement or other operations related to the device, the device must be disconnected from the
power supply!

Control panel VE1 (new from 11.2022)
*The CO 2 level and air quality display is only available on control panels with an integrated CO 2 sensor (in the model
designation -AQ ).
The air quality rating provides a score for the overall exhaust air quality on a scale of 1 to 5, with 5 being very good and 1 being
very bad. The air quality rating is mainly based on the CO 2 level.
There can be two sources of air parameters: Extract Air and Controller. This indicates which air is currently displaying the
temperature, humidity and CO 2 level. For example, a control panel can be installed in the living room, which then allows the air
quality to be measured and controlled according to that specific room. In the case of exhaust air, the readings are measured
from the exhaust duct of the ventilation unit.

Operating modes
Automatic mode
The purpose of the automatic mode is to monitor the quality of the indoor climate and to react to various events by reducing or
increasing the ventilation speed and thereby trying to improve the air quality within its capacity or to save electricity.
In automatic mode, the upper set point can be entered for humidity and CO 2 levels. If any of these indicators exceed the
desired set point, the device will try to bring these levels down by adjusting the fan speed to the best of its ability.
Setting the minimum and maximum operating speed of automatic mode
The minimum air flow speed setting determines the speed at which the device will ventilate if the humidity and CO 2 levels are
not above the set point and no air quality events are occurring.
The maximum air flow rate is the maximum ventilation level allowed when any actual air quality value is above the setpoint or
air quality change events have occurred.
These settings can be selected according to preferences or as recommended for the projected airflow requirements.

Bypass valve open minimum operating speed
During the summer period, there may be a desire to ventilate at a higher operating speed if the outside air is cooler than the air
in the room and you want to get more outside air into the rooms. The device switches to the selected speed immediately when
the bypass valve opens.

Automatic humidity detection mode
The device can detect a sudden increase in humidity. If the humidity rises sharply in a short period, the device switches to the
selected speed to remove the moisture. This mode is usually activated when the shower room or sauna room is used. Lasts a
minimum of 15 minutes or up to 2 hours, depending on how quickly the previous humidity level is reached.

Indoor presence detection and energy saving mode
The energy saving mode is activated when the device detects that there is no one indoors using the data of various air
parameters (generally when the CO 2 level is < 550PPM and there are no air quality events). The purpose of the energy saving
mode is to reduce the energy consumption of the device and it can be especially useful in the winter period - the lower the air
flow speed, the less energy is used for frost protection. It is important to note that this function may not always work as
expected because it depends a lot on the average CO 2 content in the air that reaches the device over the entire ventilated
surface: it ultimately depends on the number of inhabitants and the size of the ventilated surface. In the case of buildings over
250 m 2 , thermostats with CO 2 measurement should be considered instead.
The device switches to the lowest possible speed, i.e. 1. The mode is useful when the minimum speed for working in automatic
mode is set to, for example, 3. If no one is in the room, it is not necessary to ventilate at speed 3, and the device automatically
switches to the minimum speed (speed 1). It is possible to choose between three modes.
•AUTO (default) - The device automatically detects the summer period and during this period the energy saving mode
is turned off. It is often necessary to ventilate more during the summer period even when no one is in the premises.
•ON - Energy saving mode is activated regardless of the period.
•OFF - Energy saving mode is switched off and does not activate.

Manual mode
In manual mode, the user can set the fan speed to a fixed speed (0 –10).
Aeration mode
In aerating mode, the device temporarily switches to the maximum speed (10) and after some time switches the device back to
the previous (automatic or manual) mode. The duration of the mode depends on the choice made during activation: 30 minutes
to 6 hours

7
Overpressure mode (fireplace mode)
The overpressure mode creates a temporary overpressure in the room by reducing the speed of the exhaust fan relative to the
intake fan and switching back to the previous (automatic or manual) mode after a certain time. The duration of the mode
depends on the choice made during activation: 30 minutes to 6 hours. The operating speed depends on the setting, which can
only be set from the mobile application "Settings - Overpressure mode air flow speed".
Air quality and sensors in the device
Carbon dioxide (CO2) sensor
Indoor air quality is primarily assessed by carbon dioxide or CO2 levels. In living spaces, the main sources of CO2 are the
person himself and the burning of gas (gas stove) or wood (fireplace, oven). It is about 4% in the air exhaled by a person, 0.03-
0.04% in outdoor air, so it is about 100 times more in indoor air than in outdoor air.
Different studies also confirm that it is CO2 that is the most reflective indicator of human well-being. It depends on how well you
sleep, how rested you are when you wake up in the morning, how energetic you feel and how busy you are during the day. A
high amount of CO2 in the surrounding air makes it difficult to concentrate and work, as a result of which work performance
decreases. In addition, the concentration of CO2 is related to the spread of viruses - a high level of CO2 indicates that it is a
poorly ventilated room, and that room has a lot of particles exhaled by people.
The amount of CO2 in the air is expressed as a unit denoted ppm (parts per million). This means how many particles of the
substance under study are present per million particles in the observed unit of space. The level of CO2 in the air can be
estimated and measured as follows: the initial value is considered to be 400, which is the concentration of CO2 in clean
ambient air, green or good is between 400 and 800 ppm; yellow i.e. average between 1000 - 1600 ppm, red i.e. bad if it is over
1600 ppm and this is the limit from which air quality has a negative effect on humans.
Working principle: Airobot ventilation devices measure the CO2 level through the exhaust pipe - the sensor is located inside
the device. Thus, the device reaches a value averaged by a few from all rooms - the larger the size of the ventilated room, the
more inaccurate the displayed value of the device can be compared to a specific room. The biggest advantage of the CO2
sensor inside the device is that the device has the ability to assess the occupancy in the rooms in cooperation with other
sensors. Airobot's unique indoor presence detection function is what can reduce your device's energy consumption (especially
in winter periods) by ~30% (compared to conventional ventilation devices, the exact amount of energy savings depends on
actual usage and varies).
When the ventilation device is working in automatic mode, the user can choose a suitable CO2 limit, and if it is exceeded, the
ventilation speed will be increased. Depending on the season, it may be necessary to adjust this limit as the CO2 sensor is
constantly calibrating itself.
CO2 and air quality scale considering the Airobot ventilation device
*The Air o bot ventilation device analyzes the exhaust air, so the scale may differ depending on the size of the rooms to be
ventilated, the calibration of the sensor and the season.
Automatic calibration: All CO2 sensors (including the Airobot sensor) require constant re-calibration. Re-calibration of easy-
to-use CO2 sensors is done automatically and does not require user intervention. The automatic self-calibration algorithm
assumes that the sensor is exposed at least once a week to a clean air CO2 concentration of 400 ppm, which is considered
clean outside air. In the case of rooms, it is assumed that at least once a week, the rooms should be completely empty for half
a day, so that the CO2 concentration can become close to the outside air, and then the sensor can use it as a new initial value.
So, for example, in the summer periods when the windows are often kept open, the reading of the CO2 sensor can be
completely different from the one in the winter period because the rooms have a permanently low CO2 concentration and the
sensitivity of the sensor has changed. Sometimes, rarely, the calibration of the sensor can also go wrong, in which case a new
calibration of the sensor can be done manually by contacting the user support.
Volatile Organic Particle (VOC) sensor
Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC) are organic compounds that are considered the main indoor and outdoor air pollutants.
VOCs come from many different sources, such as building and furnishing materials, chemicals used in everyday objects,
cleaning products, paints, dust, vapors, fragrance oils. High VOC levels are usually found in newly constructed or newly

renovated buildings. VOCs directly affect human health and cause dryness and irritation of the eyes, nose and throat,
headaches and dizziness.
The VOC algorithm of the Airobot ventilation unit analyzes the VOC events detected by the sensor and maps them into a VOC
index on a scale of 0-500. The index of volatile organic compounds shows the extent to which indoor air quality has
deteriorated or improved, while the main purpose of the sensor is to highlight VOC events and momentary pollutants - for
example, using fragrance oils, cleaning agents, alcohol-containing chemicals or the like in rooms, the VOC reading generally
increases, which indicates that a source of contamination has been identified in the premises.
The VOC index scale on the Airobot ventilation device and the relation to air quality:
Index 100 is the default value for VOC content. If the sensor reading falls below 100, it indicates that the number of VOC
particles has decreased compared to the previous 24H period. If it rises, it indicates that the number of VOC particles has
increased compared to the previous 24H period.
Operating principle: Currently, the Airobot ventilation device does not increase the ventilation rate when detecting VOC
events. This functionality is coming soon in a software update. The sensor reading is displayed in the mobile application or
control panel. When the device restarts, the sensor warms up for 1 hour and only then the reading starts to be displayed.
The VOC sensor is integrated in devices whose SN/ID code begins with V02XXXXXX (produced from 07.2021).
Functions
Automatic bypass valve (summer cooling)
Airobot ventilation devices are equipped with a fully automatic summer bypass valve. The idea of the bypass valve is that it
would be possible to partially or completely stop the heat return during the summer season and to direct the air coming from
outside partially or completely past the heat exchanger directly into the room. It is important to know that the ventilation device
is not a cooling device, and this function allows to blow somewhat cooler outside air into the room on hot summer nights, but it
does not generally lower the internal temperature of the rooms.
The bypass has two modes that can be selected via the remote control or mobile app:
●OFF - always closed. The bypass valve is never opened.
●AUTO - the bypass valve opens / closes automatically according to the following conditions - all conditions must be
met for a minimum of 15 minutes:
○The outside air (or supply air) temperature is higher than 13°C. A lower temperature is not allowed because
otherwise condensate water may form on the surface of the pipeline, which in turn may damage the
building's structures.
○The outdoor air temperature is lower than the exhaust air temperature
The current position of the valve can be checked from the control panel INFORMATION menu or in the mobile application
"Device information: Summer bypass: Open/Closed"
•OPENED - the bypass is currently open and heat exchange does not take place (S1/S2 model) or takes place
partially (V3 and L model).
•CLOSED - the bypass is currently closed and heat exchange is taking place.
Preheating and frost protection
If the outside air drops to minus degrees, the heat exchanger may freeze under certain conditions. To prevent this, electric
preheating is integrated into the device: Airobot S/V3 model 1.35kW PTC, Airobot L model 1.1kW PTC (power varies
depending on the outside air temperature and can be up to 2kW), which ensures that the air entering the device from the
outside is at least 0°C to -3°C. The exact freezing limit is calculated by the device itself, taking into account various parameters

(air volume, air humidity, air temperature). For a heat exchanger with moisture recovery, the limit is -5°C to -7°C. The heater is
controlled based on demand. The device generally works without limitation of the air volume up to -20°C outside air
temperature (may vary depending on the conditions and the amount of air flow), then the device can gradually limit the air
volume and, if necessary, stops temporarily. Devices with moisture recovery use significantly less energy for frost protection
and are a recommended choice for every device.
•ON / On - use of preheating is allowed - use is based on demand.
•OFF - the use of preheating is prohibited (not recommended). The device ventilates for 10 minutes and stops the
fans if the outside air is lower than 0°C. After 3 hours, it recovers and the device repeats the same cycle. To turn it
off, hold down the OK button for less than 3 seconds. In the switched off state, the heat exchanger may freeze,
which may damage the device. In the summer period, it is not necessary to turn off the preheating, as it is
only used based on the outside air temperature (at minus degrees).
Filter settings and reminder settings
The ventilation device itself signals the need to change the filter with a corresponding message on the control panel or in the
mobile application.
To view the status of the filters:
Changing the filter reminder interval - recommended 6 months by default:
To reset the filter reminder and set a new one:
Moisture recovery
In the optional equipment, it is possible to get a heat exchanger with moisture recovery (Enthalpy) instead of a standard heat
exchanger, which turns the system into energy recovery ventilation (ERV). While the standard heat exchanger (HRV) only
returns heat, the moisture recovery heat exchanger (ERV) returns both heat and humidity. Moisture return takes place only
from the air extracted from the premises, that is, the special cover of the plate heat exchanger partially captures the moisture of
the extracted air and directs it back to the supply air. The amount of moisture that can be returned depends on how much
moisture is generated in the rooms during daily life. A heat exchanger with moisture recovery does not produce additional
moisture and its productivity cannot be adjusted.
If your current unit is a heat recovery only (HRV) model, it is possible to change the heat exchanger to a moisture recovery
model. Please contact your dealer for this.

Balancing of air volumes
In the factory setting, the air volumes of the device (intake and exhaust air) are balanced. When connecting the unit to the
ventilation system, the pressure difference in the piping can throw the air volumes out of balance and the system may need to
be balanced. To achieve the best heat recovery efficiency, the air volumes should always be balanced.
Changing the fan speed ratio :
●Increasing the value (+%) decreases the exhaust fan speed
●Decreasing the value (-%) decreases the speed of the supply fan
Automatic balancing - during the winter period, the device constantly monitors air humidity, air temperatures and the efficiency
of heat recovery, and according to the received information, the working ratio of the motors can be corrected and the extraction
can be increased and the intake can be reduced. If the working ratio of the motors is changed, this function is automatically
switched off for 30 minutes.
Balancing of air volumes may only be carried out by ventilation specialists! The balancing of the air volumes must be done with
clean filters and preferably during the non-heating period (outside temperature above 10 degrees), when no condensate water
has formed in the heat exchanger and the device.
Central humidifier control
When connecting a central air humidifier according to the ventilation device, the device automatically detects it, and the
corresponding air humidifier section is displayed in the mobile application:
Control of a geothermal preheating and cooling calorifier
If your Airobot device has the optional heater control capability, you will be shown 2 functions in the "Settings - External heating
and cooling" section of the mobile app:
•Ext. Heating / Küte zain - In the winter period, it functions as a pre-heater, which allows you to pre-heat the air
coming from outside to some extent. Electric preheating is still used if there is not enough space for the heater. The
circulation pump is switched on when the outside air temperature drops below 1 degree. Otherwise, the circulation
pump is switched off.
•Ext. Cooling - In the summer period, the radiator can be used to cool the intake air. By activating the function, the
function "Automatic bypass valve (summer cooling)" is switched off, because then the bypass valve will be controlled
by the cooling function.
oBy activating the function, after 5 minutes, the bypass valve is opened and the circulation pump is switched
on, and the supply air temperature should decrease.
oThe device takes into account the "desired temperature" selected by the user, and when it is reached
(exhaust temperature), the pump is switched off until the indoor temperature rises above the desired
temperature again.
oThe device automatically monitors the minimum allowable supply air temperature, which the device
automatically calculates taking into account the air temperature and humidity of the rooms (calculating the
dew point). If the inlet temperature drops too low, the circulation pump is stopped until the inlet temperature
rises again, and then it is activated again. If the inlet temperature is too low, condensation water may form
on the surface of the uninsulated piping, which can damage the house's structures.
•Off - functions are disabled
The operation of the functions can be checked from the mobile application "Device information - External pump control: On/Off"
Ext. Heating and Ext. Cooling cannot be on at the same time. Seasonally, these functions must be switched manually. The
heating function is automatically switched off in the setting when the outside air temperature rises above 13°C, Ext. In the case
of cooling, when the outside air temperature drops below 6°C.
Setting up the Modbus home automation protocol
Airobot devices can be controlled using ModBus RTU or ModBus TCP/IP protocol.
Modbus RTU - enabled by default. Connect the A and B wires to the LCD pin according to the installation manual. In case of
RTU connection, it is not possible to use the control panel of the ventilation unit (VE1 or VB2) at the same time.

a Modbus TCP/IP connection, the ventilation unit must be connected to the Internet. Modbus TCP is disabled by default. A
control panel is required for activation or contact the help desk, who can activate it remotely.
ON - ModBus is enabled. OFF - ModBus is turned off.
Write to [email protected]m to get the table needed to set ModBus parameters (registers). Only qualified specialists may
perform the home automation control setup. Incorrect setting may damage the device or the surrounding environment.
Mobile application
It is possible to control the Airobot ventilation device via a mobile
application, provided that the device is connected to the Internet. If the
network connection problem icon is displayed on the control panel, there is
no connection and you can try restarting the device and the network device.
Each Airobot device is assigned an identification number (SN/ID). Your
device ID and password can be found: on the product label of the device or
on the front panel of the device. Use your device ID and password to pair
your device in the Airobot mobile app. The mobile application called
"Airobot 2" can be downloaded from the Google Play Store or App Store
environment. When opening the application for the first time, you must
create a user account and follow the further instructions on the screen.
Security and privacy
The information flow between the device - the server - the mobile application is encrypted. When connecting the device to the
Internet, every 30 seconds, indicators (for example, air temperature, humidity, etc.) are saved to the server, based on which
statistics are displayed to the user in the mobile application. The data may be used for impersonal analysis and to improve the
product.
If possible, connect the device to the Internet. The software of Airobot devices is constantly being developed, and thus it is
possible to take part in improvements and new functionalities. If you do not want to keep the device constantly connected to the
Internet, it is recommended to connect the device to the Internet for at least one hour every few months - during this period, the
device will automatically download the newest software. If it is not possible to connect the device to the network with an Internet
cable, ask the dealer for more information about the wireless Internet receiver.
Airobot devices can be managed remotely, and by contacting the help desk (saying your device ID), the Airobot help desk can
have access to the data of your devices. This allows us to provide the best user experience and faster assistance. To ensure
privacy, the Airobot remote management system does not establish connections between the user and the device - the user
support can only identify the devices by the device ID if the user says so when contacting the user support. By saying the
device ID, the user gives permission to view the data of his device.

The exhaust pipe is not properly
insulated and the air cools down in the
pipe
If the outlet temperature of the device (see the outlet temperature of
the device on the control panel) is several degrees lower than the air
temperature in your premises, this indicates a poorly insulated
pipeline, and the air in the pipeline has time to cool down before
reaching the device. Stop using the device until the pipeline is
isolated (condensate water may form in the pipeline)
Clogged pipelines or filters, extraction
does not work properly.
Check that the exhaust filter is not blocked. Check for blockages in
the pipeline. If necessary, install a new filter or remove the blockage.
The heat exchanger has frozen
Remove the heat exchanger and defrost and contact your dealer -
your unit may need a more precise setting to prevent future freezing.
The bypass valve is open (failure) and
cold air enters the supply air
AIrobot S - remove the right filter and visually check whether the
valve is properly closed. In case of failure, contact the dealer.
The outdoor grill is not protected from
