1.4 Safetyprecautions
CAUTION
Install the system in full accordance with this
installation manual.
Incorrectinstallationcancausebursts,personalinju-
ry,waterleaks,refrigerantleaks,electricshocksand
re.
Pay attention to the measurement values before
working on the cooling system, especially when
servicing in small rooms, so that the limit for the
refrigerant’s concentration is not exceeded.
Consultanexperttointerpretthemeasurementval-
ues.Iftherefrigerantconcentrationexceedsthelimit,
theremaybeashortageofoxygenintheeventofany
leak,whichcancauseseriousinjury.
Use original accessories and the stated compo-
nents for the installation.
Ifpartsotherthanthosestatedbyusareused,
waterleaks,electricshocks,reandpersonalinjury
mayoccurastheunitmaynotworkproperly.
Ventilate the working area well – refrigerant leak-
age may occur during service work.
Iftherefrigerantcomesintocontactwithnaked
ames,poisonousgasiscreated.
Install the unit in a location with good support.
Unsuitableinstallationlocationscancausetheunitto
fallandcausematerialdamageandpersonalinjury.
Installationwithoutsucientsupportcanalsocause
vibrationsandnoise.
Ensure that the unit is stable when installed, so
that it can withstand earthquakes and strong
winds.

The electrical installation must be carried out by
a qualied electrician and the system must be
connected as a separate circuit.
Powersupplywithinsucientcapacityandincorrect

tion, tighten the cables securely in the terminal
blocks and relieve the wiring correctly
to prevent overloading the terminal blocks.

Do not install the unit where corrosive gas (for
example nitrous fumes) or combustible gas or
steam (for example thinner and petroleum gases)
can build up or collect, or where volatile combus-
tible substances are handled.
Corrosivegascancausecorrosiontotheheatex-
changer,breaksinplasticpartsetc.andcombustible
gasorsteamcancausere.
Do not use the unit where water splashes may
occur, for example in laundries.
Theindoorsectionisnotwaterproofandelectric
shocksandrecanthereforeoccur.
Do not use the unit for specialist purposes such
as for storing food, cooling precision instru-
ments, freeze-conservation of animals,
plants or art.
Thiscandamagetheitems.
Do not install and use the system close to equip-
ment that generates electromagnetic elds or
high frequency harmonics.
Equipmentsuchasinverters,standbysets,medical
highfrequencyequipmentandtelecommunications
equipmentcanaecttheunitandcausemalfunctions
andbreakdowns.Theunitcanalsoaectmedical
equipmentandtelecommunicationsequipment,
sothatitfunctionsincorrectlyornotatall.
Do not install the outdoor unit in the locations
stated below.
● Locationswhereleakageofcombustiblegascan
occur.
● Locations where carbon bre, metal powder or
otherpowderthatcanentertheair.
● Locations where substances that can aect the
unit, for example, sulphide gas, chlorine, acid or
alkalinesubstancescanoccur.
● Locationswithdirectexposuretooilmistorsteam.
● Vehiclesandships.
●Locationswheremachinesthatgeneratehighfre-
quencyharmonicsareused.
● Locations where cosmetic or special sprays are
oftenused.
● Locationsthatcanbesubjectedtodirectsaltyat-
mospheres.Inthiscase,theoutdoorunitmustbe
protectedagainstdirectintakesofsaltyair.
● Locationswherelargeamountsofsnowoccur.
● Locationswherethesystemis exposed tochim-
neysmoke.
Check, after completed installation or service,
that no refrigerant leaks from the system in gas
form. Ifrefrigerantgasleaksintothehouseand
comesintocontactwithanaerotemp,anovenoroth-
erhotsurface,poisonousgasesareproduced.
Switch o the compressor before opening/
breaching the refrigerant circuit.
Iftherefrigerantcircuitisbreached/openedwhilstthe
compressorisrunning,aircanentertheprocesscir-
cuit.Thiscancauseunusuallyhighpressureinthe
processcircuit,whichcancauseburstsandpersonal
injury.
Switch o the power supply in the event of a ser-
vice or inspection.
Ifthepowersupplyisnotshuto,thereisariskof
electricshocksanddamageduetotherotatingfan.
Do not run the unit with removed panels or pro-
tection.
Touchingrotatingequipment,hotsurfacesorhigh
voltagepartscancausepersonalinjuryduetoentrap-
ment,burnsorelectricshocks.
Cut the power before starting electrical work.
Failuretocutthepowercancauseelectricshocks,
damageandincorrectfunctionoftheequipment.
CARE
Carry out the electrical installation with care.
Donotconnectthegroundleadtothegasline,wa-
terline,lightningconductorortelephoneline'sground
lead.Incorrectgroundingcancauseunitfaultssuch
aselectricshocksduetoshort-circuiting.
Use main switch with sucient breaking
capacity.
Iftheswitchdoesnothavesucientbreaking
capacity,malfunctionsandrecanoccur.
Always use a fuse with the correct rating
in the locations where fuses are to be used.
Connectingtheunitwithcopperwireorother
metalthreadcancauseunitbreakdownandre.
Cables must be routed so that they are not
damaged by metal edges or trapped by panels.
Incorrectinstallationcancauseelectricshocks,
heatgenerationandre.
Do not install the unit in close proximity to loca-
tions where leakage of combustible gases can
occur.Ifleakinggasescollectaroundtheunit,re
mayoccur.

If the bottom frame of the outdoor section is cor-
roded, or in any other way damaged, due to long
periods of operation, it must not be used.
Usinganoldanddamagedframecancausetheunit
tofallandcausepersonalinjury.
If soldering near the unit, ensure that solder
residue does not damage the drip tray.
Ifsolderresidueenterstheunitduringsoldering,
smallholescanappearinthetrayresultinginwater
leakage.Topreventdamage,keeptheindoorunitin
itspackingorcoverit.
Do not allow the drainage pipe to exit into
channels where poisonous gases, containing
sulphides for example, can occur.
Ifthepipeexitsintosuchachannel,anypoisonous
gaseswillowintotheroomandseriouslyaectthe
user'shealthandsafety.
Insulate the unit's connection pipes so that the
ambient air moisture does not condense on them.
Insucientinsulationcancausecondensation,which
canleadtomoisturedamageontheroof,oor,furni-
tureandvaluablepersonalproperty.
Do not install the outdoor unit in a location where
insects and small animals can inhabit.
Insectsandsmallanimalscanentertheelectronic
partsandcausedamageandre.Instructtheuser
tokeepthesurroundingequipmentclean.
Take care when carrying the unit by hand.
Iftheunitweightsmorethan20kg,itmustbecarried
bytwopeople.Wearsafetyglovestominimisethe
riskofcuts.
Dispose of any packaging material correctly.
Anyremainingpackagingmaterialcancauseperson-
alinjuryasitmaycontainnailsandwood.
Do not touch any buttons with wet hands.
Thiscancauseelectricshocks.
Do not touch any refrigerant pipes with your
hands when the system is in operation.
Duringoperationthepipesbecomeextremelyhotor
extremelycold,dependingonthemethodofopera-
tion.Thiscancauseburninjuriesorfrostinjuries.
Do not shut o the power supply immediately
after operation has start.
Waitatleast5minutes,otherwisethereisariskof
waterleakageorbreakdown.
Do not control the system with the main switch.
Thiscancausereorwaterleakage.Inaddition,the
fancanstartunexpectedly,whichcancauseperson-
alinjury.

Your HSV Split only requires minimal maintenance.
Thecondensationhoseshouldbecheckedtoensure
thatcondensationcanrunouttoadrain.Ifthereisany
suspicion of leakage, pipe connections on L…Split
shouldbechecked.
NOTE
Insucientoversightcancauseseri-
ousdamagetoL…Splitwhichisnot
coveredbytheguarantee.
CheckinggrillesandbottompanelonL…Split
Checkthattheinletgrilleisnotcloggedbyleaves,
snoworanythingelseregularlythroughouttheyear.
Youshouldbevigilantduringwindyconditionsand/
orintheeventofsnowasthegrillescanbecome
blocked.
Alsocheckthatthedrainholesinthebottompanel
(three)arefreefromdirtandleaves.
Regularlycheckthatcondensationisroutedaway
correctlythroughthecondensationpipe.Askyour
installerforassistanceifrequired.
Cleaningtheoutercasing
Ifnecessarytheoutercasingcanbecleanedusinga
dampcloth.Caremustbeexercisedsothattheheat
pumpisnotscratchedwhencleaning.Avoidspraying
waterintothegrillesorthesidessothatwaterpene-
tratesintoL…Split.PreventL…Splitcomingintocon-
tactwithalkalinecleaningagents.

Theheatpumpcanbesetto"silentmode",which
reducestheheatpump'snoiselevel.Thefunctionis
usefulwhenL…Splitmustbeplacedinnoisesensi-
tiveareas.Thefunctionshouldonlybeusedforlimit-
edperiodsasL…Splitmaynotreachitsdimensioned
output.
Savingtips
Yourheatpumpinstallationproducesheatandcool-
ingand/orhotwater.Thisoccursviathecontrolset-
tingsyoumade.
Factorsthataecttheenergyconsumptionare,for
example,indoortemperature,hotwaterconsump-
tion,theinsulationlevelofthehouseandwhetherthe
househasmanylargewindowsurfaces.Theposition
ofthehouse,e.g.windexposureisalsoanaecting
factor.
Alsoremember:
● Openthethermostatvalvescompletely(exceptin
the rooms that are to be kept cooler for various
reasons, e.g. bedrooms). The thermostats slow
the ow in the heating system, which the heat
pump wants to compensate with increased tem-
peratures. It then works harder and consumes
moreelectricalenergy.
● Reduce or adjust the settings for heating in any
externalcontrolsystems.
1.7 Recovery
Leavethedisposalofthepackagingtothe
installer who installed the product or to
specialwastestations.
Donotdisposeofusedproductswithnor-
malhouseholdwaste.Itmustbedisposedofataspe-
cialwastestationordealerwho providesthistypeof
service.
Improper disposal of the product by the user results
inadministrativepenaltiesinaccordancewithcurrent
legislation.
1.8 Environmentalinformation
Thisunitcontainsauorinatedgreenhousegasthatis
coveredbytheKyotoagreement.
The equipment contains R410A, a uorinated green-
housegaswithaGWPvalue(GlobalWarmingPoten-
tial) of 2088. Do not release R410A into the atmos-
phere.

2 Deliveryandhandling
2.1 Transportandstorage
L…Splitmustbetransportedandstoredvertically.
NOTE
Ensurethattheheatpumpcannotfall
overduringtransport.
2.2 Assembly
● PlaceL…Splitoutdoorsonasolidlevelbasethat
cantaketheweight,preferablyaconcretefounda-
tion.Ifconcreteslabsareusedtheymustreston
asphaltorshingle.
● The concrete foundation or slabs must be posi-
tionedsothattheloweredgeoftheevaporatoris
attheleveloftheaveragelocalsnowdepth;how-
ever,aminimumof300mm.
● L…Split sollte should not be positioned next to
noisesensitivewalls,forexample,nexttoabed-
room.
● Also ensure that the placement does not incon-
veniencetheneighbours.
● L…Split must not be placed so that recirculation
of the outdoor air can occur. This causes lower
outputandimpairedeciency.
● The evaporator should be sheltered from direct
wind,whichnegativelyaectsthedefrostingfunc-
tion. Place L…Split protected from wind against
theevaporator.
● Large amounts of condensation water, as well
as melt water from defrosting, can be produced.
Condensationwatermustbeledotoadrainor

● Caremustbeexercisedsothattheheatpumpis
notscratchedduringinstallation.
