BATTERIES : General :
Before use, read the instructions given by the battery manufacturer
WARNING High Energy Hazard
Each external battery string MUST be protected according to the system power and the
installed cross-section of the cables
The fuse or disconnecting device must be capable of interrupting the current in the event
of a short-circuit.
The short-circuit current of the batteries is specified by the manufacturer
Shock hazard : all metal parts of batteries are alive and so there is a danger of injury from
electric shock and of accidental short circuit. Touch the battery on the insulated part only.
Be careful with non-insulated tools, bracelets and rings.
Explosion hazard : regardless of service conditions, hydrogen gas can escape from the
press
ure relief valves. Installation in hermetically enclosure is therefore prohibited.

BATTERY CONNECTIONS
PE6500/50: delivered with the unit two complete -48V WCS
per set : two short yellow cables and one long yellow cable
* IF PRESENT: REMOVE THE MAINS CABLE FROM THE RACK
* IF PRESENT: open the battery breaker from the battery pack PE6500/60 and remove the link between the racks
* OPEN THE BREAKER (handle down)
* PLACE FIRST THE BATTERIES VERTICALLY IN THE RACK
* CONNECT THE YELLOW WIRES OF the -48V WCS (Wire Cord Set) FIRST
( series connection of each battery string )
* THE LONG WIRES MUST GO ALONG THE MIDDLE SEPARATION WALL
* MEASURE THE VOLTAGE OF EACH BATTERY STRING:
between non-connected + and – of each string
the string voltages must have the same voltage within +/- 1V ( typical 48 .. 50V )
* CONNECT THE + ( red ) and – ( black ) WIRES TO EACH STRING
* LAY DOWN THE BATTERIES
* PLACE AND FIX THE COVER ( 9 x Torx Combi M3x6 )
* DO NOT CONNECT THE EXTERNAL CABLES
* CLOSE THE BREAKER
* CHECK THE BATTERY VOLTAGE DIRECTLY ON THE REAR CONNECTOR
TYPICAL VALUE: 48 .. 50VDC ( with charged batteries )
* OPEN THE BREAKER AND CONNECT THE EXTERNAL CABLE
* CLOSE THE BREAKER

Preparing before installation
CHARGING THE BATTERY
Charge the batteries during minimum one hour before using the equipment the first time.
MAINS CONNECTION
•Mains cable:
minimum requirements: 3 x 0.8mm² or AWG18 ( Line / Neutral / PE )
•Grounding:
for Safety, the battery box must be connected to the Protective Earth through the mains cable and a M4
grounding screw is also provided on the rear side.
•Leakage current:
maximum 3.5 mA
•Minimum value of the external fuse or breaker:
110V mains: 10A delayed action ( line current )
230V mains: 4A delayed action ( line current )
•The battery box has an internal fuse only in the Life line
The power supply cord is used as the main disconnect device, ensure that the socket-outlet is located / installed
near the equipment and is easily accessible.
PROTECTIVE EARTH (PE) CONNECTION
The grounding wire (yellow / green – central terminal) of the mains input must be connected to the PE through the
mains cables.
The mains and grounding connections must be made in accordance with local Norms, Standards and rules.
CONNECTION OF THE APPLICATION
The four outputs are available on the MATE-N-LOK connectors on the rear
Each output is protected by a 4A (5x20mm Slow action) fuse present on the front of the rack (F1 … F4).
For safety compliance, ( risk of fire ) replace only with same type and rating of fuse:
type of fuse: ( 5 x 20 )mm 4A slow
