Owner’s Manual

Intended to alert the user to the presence of uninsulated “dangerous voltage” within the product’s enclosure that may be of sufficient magnitude to
constitute a risk of electric shock to persons.
Intended to alert the user of the presence of important operating and maintenance (servicing) instructions in the literature accompanying the product.

CAUTION: To reduce the risk of electric shock, do not remove cover. No user serviceable parts inside. Refer servicing to qualified service personnel.
Do not install near any heat sources such as radiators, heat registers or other apparatus (including amplifiers) that produce heat. Only use attachments/
accessories specified by the manufacturer. The MAINS plug is used as the disconnect device, the disconnect device shall remain readily operable.

1) Lisez et suivez toutes les instructions.

Une prise polarisée est composée de deux fiches dont l'une est plus large que l'autre. Une fiche de terre

la prise secteur de votre installation, faites remplacer cette dernière par un électricien.
5) Vérifier que le câble n'est pas pincé ou plié excessivement.
6) Débranchez cet appareil pendant les orages ou au cours des longues périodes de non utilisation.
7) L'entretien de l'appareil doit être effectué par un personnel de service qualifié. Des réparations sont
nécessaires si l'appareil est endommagé.
8) Pour déconnecter complètement l'alimentation électrique, il est nécessaire de débrancher l'appareil
de la prise murale
1) Read and follow all instructions.
2) Heed all warnings.
3) Do not block any ventilation openings. Install in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions.
4) Do not defeat the safety purpose of the polarized or grounding-type plug. A polarized plug has
two blades with one wider than the other. A grounding-type plug has two blades and a third
grounding prong. The wide blade or the third prong is provided for your safety. If the provided plug
does not fit into your outlet, consult an electrician for replacement of the obsolete outlet.
5) Protect the power cord from being bent or pinched.
6) Unplug this apparatus during lightning storms or when unused for long periods of time.
7) Refer all servicing to qualified service personnel. Servicing is required when the apparatus has
been damaged.
8) Use the mains plug to disconnect the apparatus from the mains.
Important Safety Instructions

The “L-240 Stereo Amplier” is designed for use at multiple locations. Take it with you anywhere
you need quality audio. Take it to the pool area or entertainment space, or take it to your new summer home.
(Not intended for permanent installation)
1) For mounting of the “L-240 Stereo Amplier”, place the enclosure onto a solid vertical surface,
(interior wall, exterior wall, fence or other vertical surface that does not recieve total direct sunlight.
Place a screw at the proper location to except the keyhole slot in the mounting bracket.
Hang the “L-240 Stereo Amplier” onto the screw.
2) Before any connections, make sure the amplier is not plugged into an electrical outlet and that the power
switch is in the OFF position.
3) Connections: Strip approximately 3/8” to 1/2” of the insulation o of each 12ga. speaker wire.
4) Push the bare wires under the terminal screws on the terminal blocks and tighten the screws securely.
Remember polarity is important. Positive output from the “L-240 Stereo Amplier”, to the positive input
of the speaker and negative output from the “L-240 Stereo Amplier”, to negative input of the speaker.
5) Connect the speaker outputs from the “L-240 Stereo Amplier”, to the speakers.
6) Plug “L-240 Stereo Amplier”, into 120VAC electrical outlet and turn the power switch to the ON position.
Close and lock the door to ensure your safety and to create a weather tight seal.
Installation Instructions
Portable Indoor/Outdoor WiFi Amplier
THE “L-240 Stereo Amplier” MUST BE MOUNTED AT LEAST ONE FOOT ABOVE GROUND LEVEL,
WITH A MINIMUM OF THREE (3) FEET CLEARENCE AROUND THE UNIT FOR PROPER VENTILATION.

ntroduction
AmbiSonic’s L-240 All-Weat er Outdoor WiFi Amplifier stands
apart from all ot ers. It is t e world’s first dedicated outdoor
amplifier. Not only does it deliver sparkling, audiop ile
performance, it’s also weat erized to wit stand ars est outdoor
conditions (IP-65 outdoor rated).
T e L-240 WiFi Receiver can be programmed eit er as a WAP
(Wireless Access Point) or as a Wireless Extender, allowing it to
transmit an internet connection.*
Normal amplifiers must be placed indoors for a variety of reasons,
including susceptibility to moisture, and t e need for open venting
in order to dissipate eat.
AmbiSonic’s L-240 is uniquely designed to function in ars
outdoor conditions. Rat er t an installing your amplifier indoors,
and running speaker-wires outside t roug walls or ceilings, you
simply mount t e L-240 amplifier outside on any surface near an
outdoor power outlet. Speaker wires may t en be run from t e L-
240’s outdoor location to t e speakers wit minimum effort.
*Requires an existing on-site internet connection.

Quick Start (No Network Connection)
In t is section we’ll learn ow to utilize t e L-240 amplifier in
situations w ere you don’t ave an active network connection, yet
still wis to listen to your favorite music.
Method 1: Bluetooth
If you are in an area wit no internet connection and no cellular,
you can still connect to t e amplifier t roug Bluetoot , and
transmit your locally stored music to t e L-240.
Bluetoot does not provide as ig resolution audio quality as Wi-
Fi. T erefore, we only recommend a Bluetoot connection if
t ere is no network connection at all.
W en connecting wit Bluetoot , your device will naturally start
transmitting audio to t e amplifier wit out any extra steps. Simply
access your Bluetoot settings in your device, and connect to t e
Ambisonic L-240. Connecting via Bluetoot allows you play locally
stored files, or to stream your favorite music t roug music
streaming services if you ave a active cellular service.

Method 2: Apple AirPlayTM (Apple Devices)
If you’re in a location w ere an existing network is not available,
you can connect your Apple device (iP one, iPod, iPad), to t e
amplifier’s own wireless network, via Apple AirPlayTM. T is option
requires t at you ave locally stored music on your Apple device.
Once connected to t e L-240’s Wi-Fi network, switc your Apple
device to AirPlayTM audio output. Now, your locally stored music
will begin to play t roug t e amplifier’s speakers.
W en using t is met od you’ll enjoy t e ig est quality of sound.
Data can be sent to t e amplifier in ig er volumes t roug Wi-Fi
t an t roug Bluetoot .
Please note if you do not store music locally, many music
steaming applications on your devices allow you to download an
“offline” version of t e song or album, so you can listen even
w en t ere’s no access to internet.
Once you ave offline versions of your music, simply open t e
music streaming application and begin playing t roug Apple
AirPlay

Method 3: Samsung SmartThingsTM or BubbleUPnPTM (For
Android Devices)
If you ave an Android device, and no network access, you can
still transmit locally stored music files on your p one, via Wi-Fi to
t e L-240. Remember, a Wi-Fi connection to t e L-240 provides
better audio quality t an Bluetoot .
Samsung SmartThingsTM: If your android device supports
Samsung SmartT ingsTM, you’ll be able to select t e AmbiSonic
L-240 amplifier as an audio source.
If you currently do not ave Samsung SmartT ingsTM on your
Android device, searc for t is app in t e Google Play Store. If
your device is compatible, you’ll be able to install t e app.
Once installed, open Samsung SmartT ingsTM and select “Add
Device”.
Please note: You must be connected to AmbiSonic’s L-240
wireless network in order for Samsung SmartThingsTM to detect
the Ambisonic L-240 as a wireless speaker system

Once Samsung SmartT ingsTM as found t e device, simply
select it and t e L-240 will begin functioning as an audio output.
If your Android device fails to automatically switc to t e amplifier,
pull down from t e top of your screen and you s ould now see a
section for Samsung SmartT ingsTM in your “Notifications” area.
You may t en select t e desired output, t e internal speaker(s) on
your device, or t e AmbiSonic L-240.

BubbleUPnpTM: If your Android device does not support
Samsung SmartT ingsTM, you can download a 3rd party
application called “BubbleUPnPTM”, w ic allows you to connect
your device to AmbiSonic’s L-240, and stream your locally stored
music to t e amplifier via Wi-Fi.
Please note: An upgraded license of “BubbleUPnPTM” is required
in order to transmit wirelessly (Wi-Fi) to t e L-240. Once t e
upgrade as been purc ased, you’ll be able to select t e L-240 as
an audio device.
If you ave an Android device, and your L-240 is located beyond
t e range of any Wi-Fi networks, it’s best to load your music into
your Google Play Music library (requires an active internet
connection).
Once your music is loaded into Google Play Music Library, you
can transmit your music via Wi-Fi to t e L-240 wit t e ig est
audio quality – even w en no internet connection exists.
BubbleUPnPTM also supports Tidal Music as well and s ould
support additional music streaming services in t e future.

Network Settings
In t is next section will cover t e two different ways to connect t e
AmbiSonic L-240 to t e internet, permitting t e L-240 to broadcast
a wireless internet signal.
Method 1: Wired (Ethernet)
To ensure t e absolute best connection to t e existing networks,
t e AmbiSonic L-240 Wi-Fi Amplifier s ould be directly connected
via an Et ernet cable to a Modem, Router or Switc t at already
as internet access. T is “ ardwired” connection provides t e L-
240 amplifier wit 100% signal strengt , w en broadcasting Wi-Fi
to ot er devices.

Method 2: Wireless (Wi-Fi)
In some cases, a wired Et ernet connection to t e L-240 is not
feasible or aest etically desirable. If ard-wired Et ernet is not a
viable option, t e L-240 amplifier can be attac ed to existing
networks via Wi-Fi, provided t e L-240’s location is wit in wireless
range of t e network.
W en t e amplifier attac es to a network via a wireless
connection, it eavily relies upon t e Wi-Fi range of t e existing
network.
If t e existing network Router’s wireless signal cannot reac t e
AmbiSonic L-240’s location, anot er wireless access point or
extender can be installed between t e two devices, in order to
connect t em.

Connecting the Ambisonic L-240 to the Network
LAN Connection (Best/Recommended)
If possible, it’s best to make a direct connection to your network
via a Cat5e or Cat6 cable. T is provides t e most stable and
reliable network connection to t e amplifier.

1. Insert one end of your Cat5e or Cat6 Cable into t e LAN port
located inside of t e AmbiSonic L-240. Plug t e remaining
end into your Router directly, if you ave no open ports on
your Router a Network Switc may be necessary to
complete t e task.
2. Once t e connection as been made, we recommended you
turn t e L-240 on and off once to allow it to properly
configure its new internet settings.
3. It may also necessary to turn your router on and off once in
order to allow it to properly configure t e new settings.
4. After your router and L-240 ave been power cycled, you
s ould connect to t e network and be ready to stream your
favorite music.
Once you ave created t is connection to an existing network,
you’ll be able to eit er play music files locally stored on your
device, or stream music from your music streaming service.

Apple Devices
In order to stream music using an Apple iOS device, you’ll need to
access t e “Command Center” (first ensure you ave latest iOS
update).
You can access t e Command Center t roug one of t e
following steps:
1. iP one X: Pulling down from t e upper rig t and side on t e
screen,

2. Any ot er iP one/iPad: Pulling up from t e bottom of your
screen.
Once t e Command Center is visible, select t e “Music Play” icon
– in t e upper rig t. T is will reveal t e available devices you can
access via Apple Air PlayTM. Select “Ambisonic L-240”.
Once your AmbiSonic L-240 Indoor/Outdoor Wireless Amplifier
as been properly connected to t e network, you’ll be able to
stream music t roug your favorite streaming service, or music
stored locally on your Apple device.

Android Devices (SmartThingsTM/Best Way)
If your Android device supports Samsung SmartT ingsTM, simply
pull down from t e top of your screen to display t e “Notification
Center”. If t e AmbiSonic L-240 is not already activated, select
“Audio Output”, and t en select “AmbiSonic L-240” from t e drop-
down menu.
Once your AmbiSonic L-240 Indoor/Outdoor Wireless Amplifier
as been properly connected to t e network, you’ll be able to
stream music t roug your favorite streaming service, or music
stored locally on your Android device.

Android Devices (BubbleUPnP)
If your Android device does not support Samsung SmartT ingsTM,
you can still connect to t e L-240 by downloading 3rd pary
softward called “BubbleUPnpTM” from t e Google Play Store.
Note: Even w en connected to an exiting Wi-Fi network, Android
devices w ic do not support SmartT ingsTM are not capable of
streaming music from a music streaming service to t e L-240.
W en utilizing an Android device wit BubbleUPnpTM, you are
limited to utilizing locally stored music files.
Ensure t at Wi-Fi as been enabled on your Android device.
Provided t e AmbiSonic L-240 as been connected to t e
network, you’ll now be able to select t e L-240 and wirelessly
stream your locally stored music content.
Once you’ve installed BubbleUPnpTM, open t e application and
select t e “More” icon. Next, select t e “Cast” icon s own t e
image on t e left. You’ll now see a list of local devices you may
select in order to stream locally stored music content.

Ensure t at Wi-Fi as been enabled on your Android device.
Provided t e AmbiSonic L-240 as been connected to t e
network, you’ll now be able to select t e L-240 and wirelessly
stream your locally stored music content.

Wireless LAN Connection (Normal)
If running an Et ernet cable to t e L-240 is not possible or
convenient, you can still connect wirelessly to an existing network.
Please follow t e following steps to connect your device to your
Wi-Fi network.
