Thankyou for purchasing theMicroniK internalScandoubler,whichissuitableforallA1200
motherboards.
TheScandoublerdoublesthe15.6kHzto31 kHzso thatyou areabletodisplayPALHighReson a
VGA-monitor.You can thereforedisplayalloftheAmiga displaymodesatasuitablemultisync
VGA-Monitor.For the"Super72" modeyou will needamonitor withahorizontalscan rateofat
least24 kHzand thefor themode"A2024" you willneedaspecialmonitor.For furtherinformation
pleaserefertoyour Amiga manual.
Beforestart,disconnectyour computerPSUand allexternalcableconnectionssuchas themonitor,
mouse,modem,printerand so on.Pleaseensurethatyou haveaclear workspaceand enough room
for theinstallation.
Ifyou haveainfinitivTower:
Opentheinfinitivtower according toyou manual.Disconnectallcables(rememberthepolarityof
thecable), add-on cardsand slideoutthemainboardcarrier-frame.Movethemainboardcarrier-
framewiththeZorroboard(ifthereisoneattached)toyour workdesk and disconnectitfromthe
maninboard.
IfyouhaveadesktopA1200:
Caution:BeforeopenyourA1200 youshould knowthatthisoperationmeansthelossof
warranty.
PuttheA1200 upside-downwiththekeyboardpointing tothebottom,so thatyou cansee theair
vents.Unscrewthe8screwswithaphilips crew-driver,taking noteofthelocation:3screws
(rememberthelocation)closetotheairvents(thescrewinthemiddleicoveredby thewarranty
seal,whichwill havetoberemovedfirst) and 5remaining screwson thecasebottom.Nowcarefully
turnover theA1200 so thatthespacebarpointstowardsyou.You canfoldbackthetop ofthecase.
Pleasepayattention tothecablesthatleadfromthemainboardtotheLEDboardon top ofthecase.
RemovaloftheKeyboard, FloppyandHarddiskdrive:
You canseeathingreentransparentfoil cable,whichleadsfromthemainboardtothekeyboard.
Thisfoil cableisfixedwithawhiteplasticclip.To takeoutthefoilcabletheholding mechanism
hastobeloosenedasfollows:Carefullyraisetheclipwithasmall flatscrew-driveron bothsides,
until you caneasilypull outthegreenfoil cable.
Nowunplug thepowercableand theshortgreydatacable(rememberthepolarity)fromthefloppy
drive.Thefloppy driveisfixedwithascrewand ametalsquare.Removethescrewso thatyou can
easilyremovethefloppy drive.Finally,unplug theLED-,Power-and thefloppy datacablefromthe
mainboard(remember thepolarity).

Notice: Shouldtherebeaharddriveinstalled,you willalso havetoremovethis.To do so,you need
tocarefullyremovetheharddriveand unplug theshortgreycable(rememberthepolarity)fromthe
mainboard.
Removaloftheshielding:
Caution!Pleasebecarefulof thesharpedgesontheshielding!
Unscrewthesinglescrewatthebottomoftheshielding and pullofthemetalclipon thelowerleft
hand side.Gentlybend the9metalflaps upwardwithaflatscrew-driver and raisethemwithsmall
pliersbeforepulling outtheentireshielding.Theshielding coverisnotneededanymore.Lastly
bend all metalflaps downward.
Installation oftheScandoubler:
Pleaseavoidtouching themainboardtoprotecttheelectroniccomponentsfromdamageby possible
electrostaticdischarge(ESD).Itiswisetowear anantistaticwristband.
Thesocketsboards oftheScandoublerand thechips on themainboardare labelled(forexampleU7)
and also markedby ashapededgethatmustbealignedwhenyou plug thesocketsboards ontothe
chip.
Notice: Possiblesoldering connections on thechips and cablesbridgeson themainboardcancause
problemswhenmounting thesocketsboards.
Firstplug thesocketboardU4ontotheshipU4on themainboard.Theentire cablefromthesocket
boardshouldfaceinthedirection oftheexpansion board.NowmountthesocketboardU7ontothe
chipU7on themainboard.Finally,plug thesocketboardU8ontochipU8on themainboard.See
thedrawing forthelocation ofthechips.
Shouldtherealready a socketboardon thechipU8(fromtheFloppy Adaptor),unplug thesocket
boardU8fromtheScandoubler and plug theconnectorontothesocketboardfromtheFloppy
Adaptor.Themissing pinon theadaptorboardand themissing pinfromtheconnectoraremustbe
aligned(seedrawing).
Pleasecheckall connections forcorrectfitting and alignment.
MountingoftheVGA-Connector:

Onthemainboardcarrier-frameoftheinfinitivTowerwiththeLogo "poweredbyAMIGA",you
will find aspacewhereyou canmounttheVGAconnector.Beforethatyou needtobrake(cut)off
thelittleplasticcover and placetheconnectorinthegapand secureit withthesuppliedscrews.
FortheoriginalA1200 (desktop)you needtoconnecttheVGAconnector using thesuppliedslot
bezel.PuttheslotbezelwiththeVGAconnectorintheappropriateplaceon therighthand side of
theA1200.
ClosingtheAmiga:
Rebuildeverything inreverseorder,leaving outthemetalshielding and reconnectall cables.Now
you canconnecttheVGA-Monitor totheVGA connector.
