1.0 General Information
"#
"1.1 Introduction#
""This manual contains information for the proper "
""installation of the Advanced Offshore Streaming#
""(AOS) SD Streaming server. Also included are "
""physical and electrical characteristics of the unit.#
"1.2 Purpose of the equipment#
""AOS’s SD Streaming server (SDSS) has been designed#
""to offer low bandwidth composite video streaming#
""to a globally accessible shore based server. In the #
""recommended installation, the unit receives power #
""from a 240v AC Source, Video from a composite#
""video source, and internet via an ethernet port.#
2.0 Application
"2.1 Introduction#
""The SDSS is a 100-240 Vac product that serves as "
""a rack mount unit. It contains a seperate processing#
""unit, cooling system, and video multiplexer.#
""The unit is designed with simplicity in mind, with#
""a single composite BNC Video port, a single IEC #
""Power connection, and a single RJ45 ethernet #
""port.#
"""

4
"2.2 Typical application#
""Within a rack mount environment, the SDSS will be "
""installed above or below other servers. Specific rack
""mount instructions apply to the installation process.#
""Please see section 3 for more details.#
"#
3.0 Installation
"3.1 "Prior to installation#
""The SDSS is a simple module to install. #
""Before installation, the following items should #
""be considered #
"3.1.1 Careful consideration of the location of the SDSS is
""necessary. Some of the items to consider include:#
"* Space to allow adequate airflow
* Length of cable runs
* Environmental conditions
* Access for service repair (if applicable)
""* Detailed rack mount instructions 3.1.3#
"#
"3.1.2 The SDSS shall be installed to conform to the ""
"standards designated by the customer and manufacturer
"specifications as to the unit location and type of installation.#

5
"3.1.3 The following rack mount instructions should be
followed:
A) Elevated Operating Ambient - If installed in a closed "
"or multi-unit rack assembly, the operating ambient " "
"temperature of the rack environment may be greater than
"room ambient. Therefore, consideration should be given to
"installing the equipment in an environment compatible with
"the maximum ambient temperature specified by the #
"following table:#
Operating temperature : 10° to 35° C (50° to 95° F)
Storage temperature : -40° to 47° C (-40° to 116° F)
B) Reduced Air Flow - Installation of the equipment in a "
"rack should be such that the amount of air flow required for
"safe operation of the equipment is not compromised.#
"C) Mechanical Loading - Mounting of the equipment in the
"rack should be such that a hazardous condition is not "
"achieved due to uneven mechanical loading.#
"D) Cautions and Warnings – All caution and warning "
"instructions noted on the product and in the manual "
"should be followed (see Section 3.2 below for details).#

6
"3.2 Cautions and Warnings#
""3.3.1 Do not remove any factory-installed screws#
""3.3.2 Do not install near heat sources#
""3.3.3 ESD (Electro Static Discharge) precautions "
""shall be followed when installing#
"3.3 Wiring Requirements#
""3.4.1 The length and routing of external cables "
""should be carefully studied and planned before "
""attempting installation of the equipment. Allow "
""adequate space for installation of cable and ""
""connectors. Ensure mechanical support of #
""cables is not relied upon the connector.#
"Please observe the following requirements: #
"""A) A BNC Composite video signal is required #
"""on the rear BNC connector and will be the #
"""video source for the live stream.#
"""B) An internet connection is required via#
"""the rear RJ45 connector#
"""C) A clean power supply conforming to the "
"""below electrical characteristics is required "
"""(see 3.5 for details)

7
"3.4 Physical characteristics#
""3.5.1 The SDSS shall be located away from heat "
""sources, magnetic fields and areas with excessive
""dust.#
""3.5.2 When using a rack mount, the unit shall be "
""rigidly mounted to its location using the appropriate
""hardware#
"3.5 Electrical characteristics#
""Input Voltage : 100-240Vac " " 50-60Hz"#
""Ethernet : 10/100/1000BASE‑T Ethernet (RJ-45 "
""connector) #
Video : Composite video source
"3.6 Post installation test#
""3.6.1 The authorised installer will be supplied with
""the stream password.#
""3.6.2 Ensure all installation and input requirements#
""have been met and are confirmed working.#
""3.6.3 Press the power button on the front panel#
""to power the unit on.#
""3.6.4 Wait 60 seconds for the system to power up#
""3.6.5 Press the start stream button and the bezel#
""will turn green to confirm a successful stream. #
""(note : this does not guarantee an input signal)#

8
""3.6.6 Confirm live stream present by accessing the #
""online location. The stop stream button is used #
""to cancel a live stream, in which case the stream "
""start stream green led will be extinguished.#
"#
"3.7 "Troubleshooting#
""3.7.1 If the stop stream red LED is illuminated #
""after startup, the SDSS has not detected a #
""reliable internet connection."Please check the #
""connection.#
""3.7.2 If the online stream is showing a black#
""screen with coloured flashing bars, the input signal#
""is not recognised, or is missing.#
""3.7.3 Occasionally due to unforeseen network ""
""errors, power surges etc, the unit may become ""
""unresponsive."To correct, power cycle the unit#
""by holding the power button for 6 seconds until the #
""system powers off, then power back on.#
""3.7.4 A flashing power light is not a fault, it #
""is an indication the unit is in power save mode.#
""Press the start stream button to wake the system.#
""3.7.5 Contact us below for any help / questions
relating to operation or installation.
