1-1. Before Use
- This operating manual provides details of the device and safety cautions.
- Read this manual completely before using the device.
- This manual must always be easily accessible.
1-2. Key Features
This device adopts 'Simplified Hi-Efficiency Freezing System' which enables fast cooling and
reduce power consumption.
Convenience and safety in use is considered in developing and manufacturing this
product.
Features include:
1. 'Simplified Hi-Effciency Freezing System' minimizes the time required to reach the set
temperature and power consumption.
2. If one of 'Simplified Hi-Effciency Freezing System' fails in operation, the other system still
works and maintains the temperature. (Only Dual Comp. Type).
3. Ergonomic 7″Full Touch Screen TFT
4. 'Foam insulation, inner door insulation, 3layer insulator' systems prevent leaking cold air
and inflowing of warm air from outside.
5. 'Automatic Vacuum Breaker' makes the door easy to re-open.
6. Robust & Flexible design of door handle
7. Data can be check with a high-resolution display and data can be backed up or
updated via the usb port.
8. LCO

injection function prevents damage to the sample in case of an unexpected

2. Installation
1. Check packing conditions very carefully before unpacking. Contact Hanil Scientific Inc.
immediately if damages found.
2. Do not lift the device by hand. Preferred lifting for loading and unloading is by
mechanical lifting equipment.
3. Avoid dropping or subjecting the device to impacts.
4. Connect the device to voltage sources which correspond to the electrical requirements on
the label attached to the device.
5. Avoid installing the device in direct sunlight and in an area of high humidity.
6. Provide a clearance of at least 15cm (6 in) on all sides. (At least 100cm apart from the
ceiling)
7. This device is equipped with a grounding plug.
Plug the power cord into the grounded electrical outlet.
Improper grounding can increase the risk of electrical shock.
8. Grounding electrical work is required when there is no grounding outlet.
9. Remove the brackets on the top of the device before opening the door.

3. Operating
Before Use
3-1. Cautions for Use
Carefully read this operating manual before using the device.
The device should be installed on hard and flat place. If the device is installed in an inclined
place, it causes noise and vibration. If necessary, level the device by adjusting the ‘Leveling tool’.
Be sure to operate the device only with the rated power supply, as specified on the label.
Do not connect wrong power source. It may be caused to over-heat, electric shock or fire.
If you move and reinstall the unit in a different place, let the unit stand stable for at least
3 hours.
Install the shelves before connecting the device to the power source.
After installation, wipe them with a soft cloth.
Put the samples to be stored into the chamber after reaching the set temperature.
Cautions for Safe
Use only in rooms(5℃~30℃).
Do not modify, pull, forcibly bend, or perform any other act that may damage the power
cord.
Do not let the product come into contact with water. Do not connect or disconnect the
power cord with wet hands.
Do not unplug the power cord during operation.
It may cause electric shock.
Do not hang any objects on the door. It may cause electric shock.
Do not put anything other than the sample container. When an object that is easy to
be combustible like a stone, a metal or paper goes inside, it may cause a fire, an electric
shock or a break down. Do not put any coolants in the chamber.
Do not touch stored samples, containers and inner wall with wet hands.
It may cause frostbite. Be sure to wear Cryo Gloves.

Do not place any object on the device.
Be sure the holes on the side or rear surface of the device are not blocked by a wall or
an object. It may cause a fire.
Do not install the device in dusty or humid places. It may cause short circuit.
Do not install the device at an altitude above 2,000 meters (6,562 feet).
Do not operate the device at outdoors. Store and operate the device in a place where
you can avoid rain or sunshine.
Do not operate the device near a heater, blowing an air-conditioner.
Do not use volatile, flammable products near the device.
Do not store volatile and/or flammable goods like alcohol, benzene, ether, propane gas
and glue. It could cause explosion or file.
Maintenance, adjustment and repair work should be carried out only by qualified
personnel who have been authorized to undertake such work by Hanil Scientific Inc.
This device must be connected to an earthed power supply.
Clean the power plug with a dry cloth to remove dust and grime.
Dust on the power plug may cause a fire.
Unplug the power plug before cleaning or left unused for a long period of time.
Before moving the device, unplug the power plug from the power outlet. At this time,
be careful not to damage the device.
When unplug and replug the power plug, leave a time interval at least 10 minutes.
If gas leakage occurs near the device, close the gas valve and ventilate it.
Always grasp the power plug when disconnecting the power cord.
If you notice abnormal noise or malfunctions during operation turn off the device and
disconnect the power cord, contact the Hanil Scientific Inc or place of purchase.
The mains voltage fluctuation must be within ± 10% of the nominal voltage.
The maximum relative humidity is 80% at 31℃ / 50% at 40°C.
If device packaging is wet, do not use the device and contact the Hanil Scientific Inc. or
place of purchase.

When moving the device
If you want to move the product, please contact Hanil scientific Inc. or place of
purchase.
When moving the device, do not tilt or lay down the device.
If the device is tilted or laid down when moving, start operation after 24 hours.
When moving the device, remove all the samples from the device.

3-3 Operation
- When the device is turned on, it automatically reaches the set temperature.
- Operating Temperature(SV)
MODE → SET MODE → OPERATION SV(℃) → Enter a new temperature
- High Alarm Limit(HI)
MODE → SET MODE → ALARM LIMIT → ALARM HIGH LIMIT → Enter a high alarm limit temperature
- Low Alarm Limit(LO)
MODE → SET MODE → ALARM LIMIT → ALARM LOW LIMIT → Enter a new low alarm limit temperature
- Temperature Range :
ARA MD300/400/500 -95℃~-65℃,
ARA MD700 -90℃~-65℃
ARA MD870 -90℃~-60℃
- ECO MODE :
ARA MD300/400/500 -86℃~-65℃,
ARA MD700 -80℃~-65℃
ARA MD870 -80℃~-60℃
- Turn on the circuit breaker before turning on the power switch.
- Turn off the power switch and turn off the circuit breaker when turning off the power.
An alarm sounds when the power breaker is turned off without turning off the power
switch. This feature is for warning and LCO2 injection in the case of unexpected power
failure.
- If the device is turned off, turn it on again at least 1 minute later.
- All operations of the device are controlled by Touch Screen
- Auto Door Lock models < ID : 00 / Password : 8888>
※ Check the SET Mode to register and delete Auto Door Lock settings.

Displays YES/NO, ON/OFF.

1. Using the numerical keys, enter a desired value.
2. Press the ENTER button for save.
When entered a value that is outside the range of valid values, the value is limited
within the settable range.

2) Graph
The temperature input of ci2 (CHAMBER), ci3 (CHAMBER), ai4 (MACHINE ROOM) of CONTROL
BOARD1 and CONTROL BOARD2 is displayed as GRAPH.
Displays the temperature for 4 hours as GRAPH.
The temperature is recorded in 1 minute intervals.
If the log is longer than 300 days, the oldest log is deleted and the latest log is saved
sequentially.

3) EVENT ALARM
Displays the time when the alarm occurred or the operation was restored or alarm lists.
The EVENT ALARM that has not been resolved is flickering.
If the alram is resolved within 1 minute, EVENT ALARM is not saved.
① Press the button to download data to a USB.
: Plug a USB into the usb port.
The USB in excess of 16GB can not receive data download.

Back Up System (Optional Item)
- This system is available to temporarily protect the samples of the freezer against the
consequences of freezer failure or power failure
- When current temperature is higher than the set temperature limit range, the system
can inject LCO
2
.
- If necessary, LCO
2
is injected while the LCO
2
button is pressed.
- If an error occurs on the Freezing System, LCO
2
is injected automatically until the error
is fixed.
- If the door is opened during LCO
2
injection, this system is disabled for user safety.
6) Alarm Signal Terminal (ao3 Output , ao4 Output / Setting ALRAM LIMIT)
- The Alarm Signal Terminal allows the user to monitor the fatal errors via
other devices.
- If an error such as a power failure occurs, an external alarm output is ativated.
- "Remote Wire / Wireless Alarm System"(optional) or other devices can
be used.

4-2. Maintenance
Observe the following precautions, to make your device last longer.
Be sure to connect the power cord only to a power outlet that meets the specified
voltage and current requirements.
Do not handle the device with wet hands.
The manufacturer is not in charge of breakdown caused by abnormal use or by
ignoring the warnings and cautions described in this manual.
Only use parts and accessories provided by Hanil Scientific Inc.
Before cleaning the device, remove the power plug and samples.
After Defrosting, the door and the shelves should be wiped with a dry cloth dampened
with warm water and a mild liquid detergent.
Clean the door packing regularly and dry it.
There is a risk of burns when touching the condenser or the freezer by hand.
Do not allow water to come in contact with the device.
Clean the dirt on the condenser and both galleries at the bottom of the device with
brush at least once a year.
Unplug the power plug before cleaning or left unused for a long period of time. Clean
the inside of the freezer and then open the door for 2 ~ 3 days to dry, so that the
inside of the freezer does not mold or smell.
Regularly check the thickness of the frost and remove the frost at least once every six
months.
