The lighting apparatus must be used only with its
protectiveshield.
The protective grill, lenses or ultraviolet filter must be
changediftheyarevisiblydamagedtothepointatwhich
their effectiveness is diminished, for example by
becomingcrackedordeeplyscratched.
Toensurethereliabilityoftheprojectoritshouldbekept
clean. The lens and filters should also be regularly
cleaned(atleastonceeverysixmonths)tomaintainan
optimumlightoutput.
Donotuseanysolventbasedcleaningagents.Useonly
asoft,dryantistaticcloth.
The installation of LED modules (including power
supplies)shouldbedoneaccordingtocurrenttechnical
rules and regulations. The installation should be
performedonlybyaqualifiedoperator.
Avoid contact with either corrosive agents or humidity
and moisture on delicate elements: damages from
corrosionarenotrefundedascomponentdefects.

BEFORESTARTING
Removetheproductfromtheshippingcarton,checking
thatallthecomponentssuppliedarepresentinthebox.
Refer to the following packing list to check which
components must be present in the packaging. If any

Beforestartingtheinstallationofyourproductmakesu
rethattherearenoevidentdamagescausedbytrans
portation.Intheeventthattheprojectorisdamaged,do
not plug it in and do not attempt to use it until you
contactedyourArenaLucidealerforassistance.
INSTALLINGTHEPROJECTOR
Attach the projector by means of the central hole dia
meter 11mm on the fork; for suspended applications,
youmustalsofixtheprojectorwithasafetychainsecu
ringittothesupportstructureandtheringontherear
plate,besidesthehandle.
Loosen the side knob to adjust the tilt of the projector
(+50° / 50°); once positioned, tighten the knob firmly.
For a mounting on tripod, the projector should be
installedupsidedown.
Theprojectormustbefixedonasuitablesupportwhich
remainsstableduringoperation.Alwaysmakesurethe
standorstructuretowhichyouaresettingtheprojector
issecureandisabletobeartheweightofeachunit.
POWERSUPPLYMAINS
Disconnectthemainsvoltagefromthesystem.
Connect the power cord to the mains supply, paying
attentiontothevoltageandfrequencyindicatedonthe
label.
Respect the LNE polarity indicated on the terminals
(colorbrown=L,blue=N,yellow/green=E).
It is essential that each projector is correctly earthed
and that electrical installation conforms to all the
standardsofgoodpracticeandsafetyregulations.
The projector does not have builtin on/off switch and
turnsonimmediatelywhenpowerissupplied.
Itisrecommendedthattheprojectorisconnectedtothe
mainsviaaproperswitch,sothatitcanbeturnedon
andoffindividually.
Caution
It is important that the ground connection of each pro
jectorisrunaccordingtotherulesinforce.Thepower
absorptionoftheprojectoris55W.
FILTERFRAME
Thefilterframefitsinthefrontoftheprojector.Undothe
smallretainingknobontherightsideofthedeviceand
slide it backward to release the filter frame. Now it is
possibletoextractandinsertthefilterholder.
Opentheframeandinsertthecoloredgelandthenput
itbackinplaceontheprojector.Payattentiontokeep
thenotchontheframetotherightsideoftheprojector,
tomatchthefilterholder.Slideforwardtheknobandfa
stenittolockthefilterframe.

Use the two knobs underneath the projector to ma
nuallyadjusttheapertureofthelightbeamtosuitany
typeofinstallation.
The beam spread can be adjusted from 19°
(handlesapart)to35°(handlestogether).
CONNECTINGCONTROLSIGNALS
Theprojector,inordertoberemotelycontrolled,requi
res a digital signal DMX 512 (1990). The connection
betweencontrollerandprojectorandbetweenprojector
andprojectormustbemadewithtwocoreshieldedca
ble with a section of at least 0.5mm2 and connectors
modelCanonXLR5pinplugandsocket(supplied).In
carryingoutthewiringoftheconnectorsitisimportant
that the signal wires do not make contact with each
otheranddonottouchthecasingoftheplug.Theca
sing of the plug must not be in contact with other ob
jects possible sources of disturbance. The three
terminals have the numbering referred to the poles of
theXLRconnectorsnormallyusedfortheconnectionof
the DMX: pin 1 = GND or braided screen, pin 2 =
DATA or cold pole, pin 3 = DATA+ or hot pole. Pin 4
andpin5arenotconnected.
Connect the signal coming from the controller to the
DMXsocketoftheprojectorlabeledDMXIN.Continue
connectingtheDMXOUTsockettotheDMXINsocket
ofthenextprojector.
TerminationoftheDMXsignal
Forinstallationswherethecablesignalmusttravellong
distances or where there are electrical noises, for
example a discotheque, it is recommended to use a
DMXterminator.TheDMXterminatorissimplyanXLR
connector with a resistance of 120Ω (Ohm) between
pins 2 and 3.The connector is then plugged into the
DMXOUTsocketonthelastprojectorinthechain.

PROJECTORADDRESSES
The projector, to be remotely controlled, requires 2
DMX channels. Each projector must be given a digital
start address number so that the correct projector re
sponds to the correct control signals.This digital start
address is the channel number from which the pro
jector starts to “listen” to the digital control information
beingsentoutfromthecontroller.Thisdigitalencoding
mustbedoneoneachprojector.
The start address of the coding is assigned by setting
thedesiredvalueusingthedisplayinterfaceontherear
panel. Press the MENU button on the keypad, the
display shows the word DMX ADDR and the DMX
address that is currently set for the projector; use the
UP or DOWN buttons to select the desired starting
address(ie.projector1address1,projector2address
3, projector 3 address 5, etc.); for fast forward press
andholdthebutton.
Youcanquicklyjumptotheminimumvalue(001)orthe
maximum value (511). To set the minimum, press UP
whilepressingDOWN;tosetthemaximum,pressDO
WNwhilepressingUP.
PressENTERtostore(thedisplayshows-STORED-),
orpressMENUtoreturn.
The number of selectable base addresses from the
electronicboardrangesfrom1to511.
OPERATION
Aftersupplyingthedevice,thesoftwareperformsare
set; at the end of the electronics reset routine, the
displayshowstheidlestate.

In the absence of DMX signal (XLR connector
unplugged),theblinkingdotisoff.After60secondsof
inactivity,thedisplaybacklitshutsoff.Pressanykeyto
switchitonagain.

and connect the signal from DMX controller to control
thevariousfunctionsoftheprojector.
WhentheprojectorisreceivingaDMXframe,ifthesi
gnalislost(orthecableisdisconnected)theprojector
holdsthecurrentlevelsofDMXchannelsandtheLED
sourceisstilldrivenwiththelevelssentinthelastvalid
DMXframe.
Then,iftheprojectoristurnedoffandon,anditisnot
connected to a valid DMX signal, the light intensity is
brought to 0% (unless you changed the option menu
"manual"priortoswitchoff,seelaterinoptionsettings).
ShouldthetemperatureoftheLEDboardincreaseover
85°C, the electronic management automatically redu
cesthelightintensityinordertobringthetemperature
backtoacceptablevalues.
Inaddition,thebrightnessofthelightisbroughttozero
when the temperature on the LED board rises above
100°C.
OPTIONMENU
To activate the display press any button. Then to
access the options of the projector press the MENU
button. The display shows the name of the option
starting from option 1, the base DMX address. Press
again the MENU button to scroll through the list of
options. Adjust the value with UP or DOWN buttons,
thenconfirmyourchoicewithENTER(thedisplaysho
ws-STORED-).
Ifyoudon'tpressENTER,allyourchangeswillbelost:
after 20 seconds of inactivity inside the options menu,
thedisplayreturnsbacktotheidlestate.
Option1DMXaddress
When the display shows DMX ADDR with the current
DMXaddress,presstheUPorDOWNbuttonsasma
nytimesasrequiredtodisplaythenumberofthedesi
redchannel.Tofastforwardpressandholdthebutton.
Remember that you can quickly jump to the minimum
value(001)orthemaximumpossiblevalue.Tosetthe
minimum, press UP while pressing DOWN; to set the
maximum,pressDOWNwhilepressingUP.
PressENTERtostoreorMENUtogoback.
Option2Manuallevelsettings
Manual settings are only effective when there is no
DMX signal connected, instead they have no effect
when the DMX signal is present (message -ERROR-
shown).
WhenthedisplayshowsMANUAL,inthesecondrowit
shows the channel number (starting from 1) and the
current manually set level in DMX units, for example
CH1: 255.
Thechannelnumberisblinking,whilethechannellevel
issteady.UsetheUPorDOWNbuttontoswitchtothe
desired channel (1 to 2), then press ENTER: now the
channel number is steady and the channel level is
blinking, indicating that you can modify its value. Use
UP or DOWN to adjust the channel level; for fast
forwardpressandholdthebutton.ThenpressMENU
toreturntothechannelselection.
Remember that you can quickly jump to the minimum
value(001)orthemaximumvalue(255).Tosetthemi
nimum,pressUPwhilepressingDOWN;tosetthema
ximum,pressDOWNwhilepressingUP.
Repeat the above steps until you finish your manual
settings. Finally press ENTER to save your job, the
displayshows-STORED-.
Thevaluesarestoredintothepermanentmemory,and
willbereproduceduntilyouconnecttheDMXsignal.
Note:
Afteryousetthemanualvalues,whentheprojectoris
turned off and on, and it is not connected to a valid
DMXsignal,thechannelslevelsforch.1,ch.2areauto
maticallyrecalledfrommemoryandtheLEDsourcewill
behaveaccordingly.
If you connect a DMX signal and then remove it, the
stored values become "disabled" and at the next igni
tion (without DMX) the manual values will be ignored;
thelightintensityisbroughtto0%,whilech.2issetto0.
Inallcases,ifyouswitchontheprojectorwithavalid
DMX signal connected, the manual settings are igno
red.
Remember that if you don't press ENTER to save in
memory, themanualsettingswillbelostandwon'tbe
recalledatthenextpoweron.
Option3FanMode
This function relates to the control of the LED cooling
fan.
When the display showsFAN MODE, the second row
showsthecurrentoperatingmodeandyoucanchange
itbypressingUPorDOWNbutton:
MAX
Thefanisalwaysonatmaximumspeed.
OFF-MAX
Thefanisswitchedoffuntilthetemperatureisbelowa
minimumsetpoint(50°C),thenitstartsblowingatmini
mum speed and gradually increases in speed as the
temperature rises, reaching the maximum speed at
70°C.
MIN-MAX
The fan is always on at minimum speed when the
temperature is below a minimum setpoint (50°C), and
graduallyincreasesinspeedasthetemperaturerises,
reachingthemaximumspeedat70°C.
Press ENTER to confirm (the display shows
-STORED-forawhile)orpressMENUtoquit.
Option4SoftwareVersion

Channel1Dimmer
Theintensityoflightisvariableinalinearwayfromoff
tothemaximum;inparticular,forDMXvalueequalto0
the LED source is off, for increasing intermediate va
luesthebrightnessgraduallyincreases,forvalueequal
to255theLEDsourceisonatitsmaximumintensity.
Channel2Strobe
The projector is able to generate an electronic strobe
effect, obtained by rapidly switching on and off the
LED.ThestrobeisdisabledforDMXvaluesbetween0
and 9, while for values between 10 and 255 the fre
quencyoftheflashesgraduallyincreases.
RDMFUNCTIONS
The Remote Device Management Protocol (RDM)
permits intelligent bidirectional communication
between devices from multiple manufacturers. RDM
permitsaconsoleorothercontrollingdevicetodiscover
and then configure, monitor and manage intermediate
and enddevices connected through a DMX512
network.
RespondersandControllersidentifythemselveswitha
48bitUniqueID(UID).TheUniqueID(UID)consistsof
a16bitManufacturerIDwitha32bitDeviceID.
The32bitdeviceIDisuniquethroughoutallproducts
manufactured under a specific Manufacturer ID, to
ensure that no two devices with the same UID will
appearontheDMX512network.
TherecommendedmethodforrepresentingtheUIDin
text is in hexadecimal format with a colon separating
theManufacturerIDandtheDeviceID.
Anexampleofsuchwouldbe:

where mmmm is the Manufacturer ID in hexadecimal

RDM Parameter Messages are sent to set configu
rationandgetstatusinformationfromthedevice.

Thisparameterisusedfortheusertophysicallyidentify
thedevicerepresentedbytheUID.
Whena"StartIdentify"issentfromtheRDMcontroller
to the projector, the projector will respond by strobing
the light. To stop the strobing after detecting the unit,
send"StopIdentify".
GetDeviceInfoDEVICE_INFO
This parameter is used to retrieve a variety of
information about the device that is normally required
byacontroller.

WARRANTYCONDITIONS
The unit is guaranteed for 24 months from the date of
purchase against defects in workmanship or materials
thatcomposeit.
This warranty does faults due to incorrect or improper
useofthedevice.
The warranty is immediately void if the unit has been
tamperedwithoropenedbyunauthorizedpersonnel.
The warranty provides, at the discretion ofArena Luci,
repairorreplacementoffaultyequipment.

to obtain information or assistance from the dealer. We
invite you to transcribe them in time: for any request of
information or services, this will result in a quick and
