1. INTRODUCTION
1.1 To the very beginning
We thank you for purchasing our Explosion Proof Ex-M Optical Zoom Camera
camera (for short) Ex-M OZC. The Ex-M OZC is a modified camera of OEM
FUJIFILM Corporation. The camera is modified to ATEX Category 3G, to make it
suitable for safe usage in ATEX zone 2.
One of the modifications -among others- to make the camera explosion safe is that
the flash function has been removed. All hardware and components in relation with
the flash function are physically removed from the camera.
The product manufacturer is Armadex, a manufacturing brand of EX-Machinery
Explosion Proof Equipment B.V. that modified the camera to explosion proof.
If you have questions after reading this documentation, please contact Armadex, they
will be glad to assist you.
1.2 Notes on the Ex user guide
The subject of this Ex user guide is the camera Ex-M OZC. This Ex user guide is
additional to the documentation prepared by the OEM, FUJIFILM Corporation. This
guide contains additional safety notes, requirements and measures for a safe use of
Ex-M OZC in ATEX zone 2.

For the camera, the instructions can mainly be found in the documentation of the
OEM FUJIFILM, however in case instructions stated in (1.3.1 and 1.3.2) conflict with
instructions in this document, the instructions of this document prevail.
1.4 Symbols and labels used in this manual
This label warns about hazards that will or can cause
explosion risks if instructions are ignored. Read this
document and all documents that are referred to before
operation, start-up or testing of the system. The documents
contain important safety instructions.

2 FOR YOUR SAFETY
2.1 General
Every person working with Ex-M OZC must have read and understood this manual
before using the camera.
Knowing and understanding the contents of this manual is a basic requirement for
protection of personnel against explosion risks, to prevent faulty operations and to use
it safely and correctly.
Any ideograms, signs and markings applied to the camera must be observed and kept
in a readable state.
2.2 Qualification of personnel
The camera may only be used by a competent person, with adequate knowledge of
explosion safety and hazardous area classification of the plant / factory. The
minimum level of know-how is basic knowledge, as described in the goals of IECEx
005-001 or comparable.
2.3 Intended use
Take pictures or make movies of equipment or installations in a hazardous area zone
2, inside or outside a plant / factory.
Only use the camera in an ATEX zone 2 hazardous area.
2.4 Preventing unsafe operation
The battery compartment of the equipment may only be
opened or closed inside a non-hazardous area. The area
must be known to be non-hazardous to the user.
The battery or memory card may only be removed or
placed inside a non-hazardous area. The area must be
known to be non-hazardous to the user.

The battery may only be charged in a non-hazardous area.
The area must be known as non-hazardous to the user.
After visible damage due to falling from a height above 2 m
or any other type of impact, the camera is no longer to be
considered as explosion proof. Do not use camera
afterwards.
All persons working with the camera must report any alterations to the camera that
may affect safely to the owner without delay.
2.5 Possible misuse
Under NO circumstances the camera may be used in a zone
0. For example the inside of a tank or tank wagon, zone 0
situations are not limited to this example.
Under NO circumstances the camera may be used in a zone
1. For example the direct vicinity of a pump or hose
connection, zone 1 situations are not limited to this example.
DO NOT RUB THE CAMERA WITH A DRY CLOTH
The camera has a non-metallic casing. The surface
resistance of the non-metallic casing is above 10*9
Ω/Square. A warning is attached on the outside to draw
attention to the risk of electrostatic charge. Only clean the
camera with a damp cloth.

2.6 Prohibited modifications of the camera
Repair, maintenance and/or overhaul of the camera shall only be conducted by Ex-
Machinery Explosion Proof Equipment B.V. or by a repairer qualified or authorized by
Ex-Machinery Explosion Proof Equipment B.V.
The equipment, including all equipment as supplied by
Armadex / Ex-Machinery must not be modified. Any
modification will make the ATEX EU Declaration of
Conformity invalid. The unit does not contain any
serviceable parts, and must be replaced completely at the
end of its technical life.
3 IMPORTANT NOTES BEFORE PUT INTO SERVICE
3.1 Inspection of the delivery
Unpack the camera and check for any damage. If damage is found don not use the camera,
contact shipping company and selling party immediately.

4 PRODUCT OVERVIEW
The camera in its modified and evaluated configuration is designed to be suitable for
use in ATEX zone 2 classified hazardous locations, provided the special instructions
for safe use, described in this document are carefully adhered to. These special
conditions marked in the declaration of conformity (X)
4.1 Product designation

4.2 Method of operation
The camera can be used as described in the OEM manual. The camera flash light
cannot be used. However if by mistake use of the camera flash light is selected in the
menu, the flash still will not work, but can cause an error in the software. Turn the
camera on and off to solve this error.

The Photo camera with optical zoom consists of the following parts:

5 TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS
The camera is modified to explosion safe by applying various explosion protections
methods, these can be found on the EU declaration of conformity. Harmonised
standards of the ATEX EU directive 2014/34/EU are applied to realise these
explosion protection methods. The applied harmonised standards can be found on
the EU declaration of conformity in chapter 7.
6 INSPECTION
The equipment, must be included in the inspection
requirements according to EN 60079-17 to stay in
compliance with the ATEX regulations during its technical
life.
