Your Armand Nicolet Watch
Armand Nicolet, Tramelan
Whether it’s the gift for a dear person, or your own purchase, the thought that
you are wearing one of our watches gives us great satisfaction. We hope that
our watch brings you as intense a pleasure as the care and the attention we put
into creating the style and ensuring its comfort and quality down to the last
detail. You will appreciate this watch even more in the future, when you will
have learnt to esteem its discreet, but always reliable presence throughout the
day that, second by second, will accompany you through your life.
Use, Care and Maintenance
How to ensure an excellent service of your Armand
Nicolet watch for many years
Manual Winding Watch
Wind your watch only once a day, preferably in the morning, turning the crown
clockwise until it becomes hard to turn. Avoid over winding your watch, don’t
force the crown or you will break the winding mechanism.
Self Winding Watch
To start and set your watch, wind it manually rst (turning the crown
clockwise several turns in a clockwise direction until the second hand moves)
then set the time and date(for instructions on setting the time and date, see
the section relative to the model purchased). Your watch has a sophisticated
automatic winding mechanism that continuously self winds the movement
according to the movement of your wrist. If you wear the watch during the
day for approximately 12-16 hours, the self winding mechanism will provide
a power reserve of around 34 hours ( depending on how much you move your
wrist while wearing the watch). If you wear the watch less than 12-16 hours
a day, the power reserve will not reach its maximum charge causing it to drain
before 34 hours. If you do not wear your watch daily but you would like it to
continuously keep its power reserve, we advise you to purchase an automatic
watch winder which allows you to place your watch on its rotating supports
that turns it in two directions, always keeping the watch with its maximum
power reserve.
Your Armand Nicolet Watch

5
If you prefer to manually wind your watch when not wearing it, you should
turn the crown daily for about 55 complete turns to have the 34 hours power
reserve, if it is a manual winding watch for about 23 complete turns.
Each time you turn the crown with your nger you make only an half turn, so
it is advised to double the amount of turns you make with your ngers to reach
the complete turns.
ATTENTION:
IT IS STRICTLY FORBIDDEN THE USE OF ELECTRIC
MOTORS OR PLASTIC BANDS TO TURN THE CROWN
BECAUSE THE HIGH SPEED IN TURNING THE CROWN
RISKS THE DAMAGING OF THE WINDING MECHANISM.
The M02 & S05 collections are furnished with screwed in crowns.
To set the watch the crown must be completely unscrewed. When completely
unscrewed, the crown functions like a normal crown.
To avoid damaging the winding stem caused by the incorrect use of the screwed
in crown, follow the directions below:
1. Unscrew the crown completely turning it in a counter clockwise direction
then position it into the time setting position.
2. Follow the section in the Operating Instructions referring to the model that
you have purchased to set the calendar and the time.
3. After having set the calendar and the time push in the crown to the winding
position and wind the watch turning it in a clockwise direction.
4. After having wound the watch, screw the crown in turning it in a clockwise
direction while pushing the crown in contemporarily. Your watch is now sealed
and ready to wear.
Water Resistance
Your watch is water resistant up to the depth indicated on the back of the case.
To ensure water resistance before immerging your watch in water please be
certain that:
• for watches with screwed in crowns and pushers. The crown and the
pushers must be completely screwed in;
• for watches with normal crowns. The crown must be pushed completely
against the case;
• Although our watches are designed and built so that the pushers and crown
can be used even when submerged in water we recommend that you do not
trigger them when the watch is underwater as the internal gaskets of these

6
devices may be damaged by hits or corrosive substances (not visible to the naked
eye) leading to risky water or humidity inltrations inside the movement.
If you want to use these devices completely safely when the watch is submerged
in water we recommend testing your watch every year for water resistance in a
service center conveniently equipped.
After having used the watch under salt water, rinse it with fresh water at room
temperature.
Luminous
The luminous featured in our watches is made only of non radioactive material
and glows only if the pigments have been fully activated so that they emit
light for about 5 hours with a descending performance. Best results are
achieved with sunlight or bluewhite articial lamps. For example if a watch is
permanently covered by the shirt-sleeve it gets activated only weakly, and little
light is emitted in the dark.
Shocks
Avoid any kind of shocks whether physical or thermal to your watch Do not
expose it to temperatures higher than 60°C or 140°F and lower than 0°C
or 32°F.
Magnetic elds
Avoid placing the watch near loudspeakers or other apparatuses generating
magnetic elds.
Chemicals
Avoid direct contact with detergents, perfumes, cosmetics, solvents, etc., since
they may damage the case gaskets, the strap or the bracelet.
Cleaning
To maintain the brightness of your watch, your bracelet and rubber strap,
do not use abrasive materials for cleanings. Wash them with a soft brush,
lukewarm water and neutral soap then rinse with tap water and dry with a
soft cloth.
Leather straps
Our leather straps are produced from only the best quality leather and only
leather from animals raised in captivity, not from protected wild species. The

leather we use has been produced from natural methods and do not contain any
toxic compounds. In order to preserve the beauty and condition of your strap for
as long as possible we recommend:
• not to immerse the strap in water;
• to avoid prolonged exposure to intense sunlight or spot lights to prevent the
colour from fading;
• to avoid contact with greasy substances, creams and cosmetic products;
• to clean it periodically with a soft brush or a soft cloth.
Anti-Glare:
The anti-glare treatment on the sapphire crystals of the Armand Nicolet
watches is made up of three super thin layers of special salts applied on
both sides of the crystal. These super thin lms signicantly reduce the light
reection of the crystal and considerably improve readability of the dial and
hands in different light conditions. For the best efciency of the anti-glare we
recommend accurately cleaning the crystal with a soft clean cloth, like the one
supplied with your watch. A rough cloth or a brush may damage or remove part
of the anti-glare lm.In case the efciency of the anti-glare has been reduced
by dirt or greasy deposits determined by the normal every day use, we suggest
washing the crystal with lukewarm water and neutral soap, rinsing it off,
drying and cleaning it with a clean soft cloth.
Overhaul and After Sale Service
Your watch is a mechanical watch and like all sophisticated mechanisms it
needs a periodical overhaul. To maintain the efciency and precision of your
Armand Nicolet watch we suggest you submit it for an annual check-up of the
functions and the water-resistancy to an Armand Nicolet Authorised Retailer.
The number of complete overhauls depends upon the model, the climate, the
usage and also on the owner’s individual care. As a general rule, your watch
should be serviced every ve years.
For servicing we recommend to submit the watch to an Armand Nicolet Service
Centre who are the only appointed centres, equipped with the necessary tools to
carry out the work according to the strict Armand Nicolet quality standards.

correctly.
Setting of the GMT for the simultaneous reading of two time zones
(for example local time and home time during a journey in an area
with a different time zone)
• The 12 hour hand (local time) completes a rotation of the dial every 12
hours and it is used to indicate the local time.
• The 24 hour hand (home time or GMT) completes a rotation of the dial
every 24 hours and it is used to indicate the home time or the time of a different
time zone.
To use this function it’s necessary to quick change the time shown by the 12
hour hand without changing the time shown by the 24 hour hand.
The exclusive mechanism developed by Armand Nicolet for your
GMT watch allows this operation to take place quickly, practically
and safely by proceeding as follows:
Pull out the crown in position 2 and by turning it anti-clockwise move forward
the 12 hour hand by one-hour clicks until it reaches the local time. By doing so
the time shown by the GMT hand doesn’t change.
By moving forward the 12 hour hand the date changes passing midnight. The
12 hour hand can be set during any time of the day without damaging the date
mechanism.
• When travelling EASTBOUND: To set your watch at the local time
move forward the 12 hour hand until it reaches the time of the place where you
are at by turning the crown anti-clockwise in position 2.
The date will synchronize automatically as the 12 hour hand will make it
change when passing midnight.
• When travelling WESTBOUND: To set your watch at the local time
move forward the 12 hour hand until it reaches the time of the place where you
are at by turning the crown anti-clockwise in position 2.
The quick correction mechanism of the 12 hour hand can move the hand only
forward and when the hand passes midnight the date will change.
After setting the local time you shall now set the date.
By turning the crown clockwise in position 2 the quick date mechanism will
trigger and the correct date shall be set.
