ARTURIA – ANALOG FACTORY 2.0 / EXPERIENCE. - MANUAL 8
1 Introduction
1.1 His ory
In early 2001, Arturia began working on a vance algorithms for the igital emulation of
analog circuit’s au io characteristics. They are known as TAE
®
, stan ing for
True Analog
Emulation. In non-technical language, this is an unprece ente way of creating the very
unique soun one fin s in a synthesizer such as the Moog Mo ular. Nearly a year after they
began work on the algorithms, Arturia was rea y for fee back. At the 2002 NAMM show in
California, Arturia share an early version of what woul later be the Moog Mo ular V with
the renowne maker of the original Moog synthesizer, Doctor Bob Moog.
In seeking insight from soun pro uction experts, such as Dr. Moog, as well as avi
synthesizer users, Arturia was able to ensure the quality of the instruments they ma e; so
well in fact the Dr. Moog himself en orse the Moog Mo ular V. The launch of this soun
powerhouse was an instant success, winning awar s from several top magazines, an
lea ing to the evelopment of other synth recreations.
Shortly thereafter, Arturia starte receiving many requests from musicians, pro ucers an
ban s. Many of them explaine how they were planning to replace their original har ware
synthesizers by virtual instruments. Artists aroun the globe were beginning to see the
a vantages of a software alternative to har ware-base synthesizers.
The CS-80V emulate the legen ary Yamaha CS-80, consi ere by many as "the ultimate
polyphonic" synthesizer, was launche at the AES 2003 in New York. Imagine some of your
favorite music from iverse artists such as Keith Emerson or Stevie Won er, an you will
have a mental glimpse of the sonic capabilities of the CS-80V.
Release at the NAMM 2004, the minimoog V was our recreation of the Minimoog, quite
possibly the most famous synthesizer ever. The original Minimoog has been big on the
music scene since the 70’s; still to ay the Minimoog has a large following for its many
soun capabilities.
The ARP 2600 V was launche at the NAMM 2005 in Anaheim. This is a faithful repro uction
of the ARP 2600 an is great for just about any soun one might wish to create: everything
from rum n’ bass stabs to Star Wars’ R2-D2 have been ma e with the Arp.
At the Winter NAMM Show 2006, ARTURIA announce the release of its seventh pro uct:
the Prophet V. This powerful hybri gives you two instruments in one: it combines the
warmth of the legen ary Prophet 5 programmable analog synth with the unique Vector
Synthesis textures of the igital Prophet VS.
At last, at the summer 2007 NAMM Show, Arturia launche the Jupiter-8V. In terms of sonic
possibilities, it complemente its “Arturia siblings” by bringing something ifferent. The
Jupiter-8 V was capable of creating very versatile soun s. You coul easily make 'fat' or
‘Crystal’ soun s with it. In fact, the Jupiter-8 soun e the way it looke , ‘sleek an
polishe ’.
The electro-pop community became quickly convince by the qualities of the original
Jupiter-8. 'Relax', by Frankie Goes to Hollywoo was pro uce incorporating a Jupiter 8, an
players such Vince Clarke, John Foxx, an Martyn Ware were also using it. The path to
classic status of the Jupiter starte there.
