•Thischargerisnotintendedforanyusesotherthanchargingrechargeablebatteries.Anyotherusemay
resultinriskoffire,electricshockorelectrocution.
•Donotplaceanyobjectontopofthechargerorplacethechargeronasoftsurfacethatmayresultin
excessiveinternalheat.Placethechargerinapositionawayfromanyheatsource.
•Toreduceriskofdamagetotheelectricplugandcord,pullbytheplugratherthanthecordwhen
disconnectingthecharger.
•Makesurecordislocatedsothatitwillnotbesteppedon,trippedover,orotherwisesubjectedto
damageorstress.

•Thebatterypackisnotfullychargedoutofthecarton.Firstreadthesafetyinstructionsandthenfollow
thechargingnotesandprocedures.
•Thelongestlifeandbestperformancecanbeobtainedifthebatterypackischargedwhentheair
temperatureisbetween64‐75ºF(18‐24ºC).Donotchargethebatterypackinanairtemperature
below50ºF(10ºC)orabove104ºF(40ºC).Thisisimportantandwillpreventdamagetothebatterypack.
•Donotincineratethebatterypackevenifitisseriouslydamagedoriscompletelywornout.Thebattery
canexplodeinafire.
•Neverattempttoopenthebatterypackforanyreason.Iftheplastichousingofthebatterypackbreaksor
cracks,immediatelydiscontinueuseanddonotrecharge.

1)Workareasafety

ordust.Powertoolscreatesparkswhichmayignitethedustorfumes.
c) Keepchildrenandbystandersawaywhileoperatingapowertool.Distractionscancauseyoutolose
control.
2)Electricalsafety
a) Powertoolplugsmustmatchtheoutlet.Nevermodifythepluginanyway.Donotuseanyadapterplugs
withearthed(grounded)powertools.Unmodifiedplugsandmatchingoutletswillreduceriskofelectric
shock
b) Avoidbodycontactwithearthedorgroundedsurfacessuchaspipes,radiators,rangesandrefrigerators.
Thereisanincreasedriskofelectricshockifyourbodyisearthedorgrounded.
c) Donotexposepowertoolstorainorwetconditions.Waterenteringapowertoolwillincreasetheriskof
electricshock.
d) Donotabusethecord.Neverusethecordforcarrying,pullingorunpluggingthepowertool.Keepcord
awayfromheat,oil,sharpedgesormovingparts.Damagedorentangledcordsincreasetheriskofelectric
shock.
e) Whenoperatingapowertooloutdoors,useanextensioncordsuitableforoutdooruse.Useofacord

3)Personalsafety
a) Stayalert,watchwhatyouaredoingandusecommonsensewhenoperatingapowertool.Donotusea
powertoolwhileyouaretiredorundertheinfluenceofdrugs,alcoholormedication.Amomentof
inattentionwhileoperatingpowertoolsmayresultinseriouspersonalinjury.
b) Usepersonalprotectiveequipment.Alwaysweareyeprotection.Protectiveequipmentsuchasdustmask,
non‐skidsafetyshoes,hardhat,orhearingprotectionusedforappropriateconditionswillreducepersonal
injuries.
c) Preventunintentionalstarting.Ensuretheswitchisintheoff‐positionbeforeconnectingtopowersource
and/orbatterypack,pickinguporcarryingthetool.Carryingpowertoolswithyourfingerontheswitchor
energizingpowertoolsthathavetheswitchoninvitesaccidents.
d) Removeanyadjustingkeyorwrenchbeforeturningthepowertoolon.Awrenchorakeyleftattachedto
arotatingpartofthepowertoolmayresultinpersonalinjury.
e) Donotoverreach.Keepproperfootingandbalanceatalltimes.Thisenablesbettercontrolofthepower
toolinunexpectedsituations.
f) Dressproperly.Donotwearlooseclothingorjewelry.Keepyourhair,clothingandglovesawayfrom
movingparts.Looseclothes,jewelryorlonghaircanbecaughtinmovingparts.
g) Ifdevicesareprovidedfortheconnectionofdustextractionandcollectionfacilities,ensuretheseare
connectedandproperlyused.Useofthesedevicescanreducedust‐relatedhazards.

4)Powertooluseandcare
a) Donotforcethepowertool.Usethecorrectpowertoolforyourapplication.Thecorrectpowertoolwill
dothejobbetterandsaferattherateforwhichitwasdesigned.
b) Donotusethepowertooliftheswitchdoesnotturnitonandoff.Anypowertoolthatcannotbe
controlledwiththeswitchisdangerousandmustberepaired.
c) Disconnecttheplugfromthepowersourceand/orthebatterypackfromthepowertoolbeforemaking
anyadjustments,changingaccessories,orstoringpowertools.Suchpreventivesafetymeasuresreduce
theriskofstartingthepowertoolaccidentally.
d) Storeidlepowertoolsoutofthereachofchildrenanddonotallowpersonsunfamiliarwiththepower
toolortheseinstructionstooperatethepowertool.Powertoolsaredangerousinthehandsofuntrained
users.
e) Maintainpowertools.Checkformisalignmentorbindingofmovingparts,breakageofpartsandanyother
conditionthatmayaffectthepowertoolsoperation.Ifdamaged,havethepowertoolrepairedbefore
use.Manyaccidentsarecausedbypoorlymaintainedpowertools.
f) Keepcuttingtoolssharpandclean.Properlymaintainedcuttingtoolswithsharpcuttingedgesareless
likelytobindandareeasiertocontrol.
g) Usethepowertool,accessoriesandtoolbitsetc.inaccordancewiththeseinstructionsandinthemanner
intendedfortheparticulartypeofpowertool,takingintoaccounttheworkingconditionsandtheworkto
beperformed.
h) Useofthepowertoolforoperationsdifferentfromthoseintendedcouldresultinahazardoussituation.
5)Service
a) Haveyourpowertoolservicedbyaqualifiedrepairpersonusingonlyidenticalreplacementparts.Thiswill
ensurethatthesafetyofthepowertoolismaintained.
b) Ifthesupplycordisdamaged,itmustbereplacedbythemanufacturer,itsserviceagentorsimilarly
qualifiedpersonsinordertoavoidahazard.
OverChargingProtection
Thisfeatureensuresthatthebatteryisneverovercharged.Whenthebatteryhasreacheditsfullchargecapacity
thechargerwillshutoffprotectingtheinternalcomponentsofthebatteryfrombeingdamaged.
OverDischargeProtection
Aninternalcomponentofthebatterypackisanoverdischargeprotector.Thisfeaturewillstopthebatteryfrom
dischargingbeyondtherecommendedlowestsafetyvoltage.
OverHeatProtection
ThebatteryhasaninternalThermistorcutoffsensorwhichwillceasethechargingcycleifthebatterybecomes
hotduringthechargingprocess.ThisThermistorsensorwillalsostopthebatteryfromoperatingshouldthe
batterybecometoohotduringtheoperationofthetool.Thiscanhappenwhenthetoolisoverloadedorbeing
usedforextendedperiodsoftime.Upto30minincoolingtimemayberequireddependingonambient
temperatureandoperationbeingperformed.

OverCurrentProtection
Shouldthebatterybeoverloadedandthemaximumcurrentdrawbeexceededthebatterywilltemporarilystop
workingtoprotecttheinternalcomponents.Thebatterywillresumetonormaloperationoncetheexcessive
currentdrawhasreturnedtonormalsafelevel.Thismaytakeafewseconds.
ShortCircuitProtection
Ifthebatterypackwastoshortcircuittheshortcircuitprotectorwouldimmediatelystopthebatterypackfrom
operating.Thiswillensurethatnofurtherinternalcomponentsofthebatteryorthetoolsaredamaged.
Thedrillhasbeenshippedinalowchargecondition,andrequireschargingpriortouse.
•Plugthecharger(9)intoa120Vpoweroutlet.Ensurethatthecharger(9)isonaflatisonaflatsurface.
•Insertthebattery(5)intothecharger(9).Therecessofthebatteryterminalswillhaveafirmconnection.
•Uponpropercontacttheredandgreenlightwillilluminateonthecharger(9).
•Thebattery(5)willtake90minutestocharge.Chargingstartsautomatically.Removethebattery(5)from
thechargerafter90minutes.
•
NOTE:Iflightonthecharger(9)failstocomeon:
•Checkthechargingadaptor(9)issecurelypluggedintothewalloutletandisswitchedon.
•Checkthebattery(5)isfirmlyseatedontothecharger(9).
InitialCharge
•Whentheunitisonchargetheredandgreenlightwillbeondisplay.
•Thegreenlightwillappearonlywhenthebatteryisfullycharged.
•Chargeyourbatteryfor90minutesthenuseituntilitrunsdownandonlyslowlyoperates.
•Repeatthischargeanddischargeprocessapproximately4‐5times,thiswillensurethatthebatteryis
performingtoitshighestcapacity.
ImportantChargingNotes
•Thechargerandbattery(5)maybecomewarmtotouchwhilecharging.Thisisanormalcondition,and
doesnotindicateaproblem.
•Usethechargeratnormalroomtemperaturewheneverpossible.Topreventoverheating,donotcover
thechargeranddonotchargethebattery(5)indirectsunlightornearheatsources.
Ifthebattery(5)doesnotchargeproperly:
1. Checkcurrentatpoweroutletbyplugginginalamporotherappliance.
2. Ifchargingproblemspersist,havethecompletedrillcheckedbyanelectricianorapowertoolrepairer.
NOTE:IfbatteryislowordeadanddisplaysgreenchargedLED,refertoThermalvoltageprotectionnotebelow.
Coolingmayberequired.

Thermalvoltageprotectionindication
Intheeventthatthethermalorvoltageprotectioncircuithasbeenactivatedthebatterywillceasetooperate.
Thiscanhappenwhenthetoolhasbeenusedforextendedperiodsorworkedhardwithlargedrillbitsor
accessories.IfyouplacethebatteryonthechargertheLEDlightswillgiveyoutheappearancethatthebatteryis
fullycharged.Leavethebatteryonthechargertochargefor90minutes.Thebatterymaytakethefull90minutes
tochargeasthebatterymayneedtocooldownortheprotectioncircuittobereset.Thiswillthenallowthe
chargertobeginchargingthebatteryandresumenormaloperation.
Alwaysswitchoffthedrillbeforeinsertionorremovalofthebattery(5).
InstallingtheBattery
•Holdingthedrilluprightandpickingupthebattery(5)inyouropposite
hand.Placetwofingersoverthebatteryreleasebuttons(6)andinsertthe
battery(5)untilitclicksintoplace(SeeFig.2).
•Donotuseexcessiveforcewheninsertingthebattery(5).Ifthebattery(5)
doesnotslideineasily,itisnotbeinginsertedcorrectly.Itisalsopossible
thattherecouldbedamagetothebattery(5),batteryterminalsorthe
drill.
RemovingtheBattery
Depressboththebatteryreleasebuttons(6)andgentlypullthebattery(5)outof
thedrill.
Battery
Thelengthofservicefromeachchargingcyclewilldependonthetypeofworkyouaredoing.Thebattery(5)in
thisdrillhavebeendesignedtoprovidemaximumtroublefreelife.Toobtainthelongestpossiblebatterylife,we
suggestthefollowing:
•Storeandchargeyourbattery(5)inacoolarea.Temperaturesaboveorbelownormalroomtemperature
willshortenbatterylife.
•Neverstorebatteriesinadischargedcondition.Rechargethemimmediatelyaftertheyaredischarged.
•Allbatteriesgraduallylosetheircharge.Thehigherthetemperaturethequickertheylosetheircharge.If
youstoreyourdrillforlongperiodsoftimewithoutusingit,rechargethebatterieseverymonthortwo.
Thispracticewillprolongbatterylife.
VariableSpeedSwitch
TurnthedrillONbydepressingthevariablespeedswitch(7).Toturnthedrill
OFFreleasethevariablespeedswitch(7)(SeeFig.3).Thespeedcanbevaried
from0tomaximumineithergear,dependingonthepressureappliedtothe
variablespeedswitch(8).Thiswayyoucanselectthebestpossiblespeedfor
thejobrequired.

ChangingtheDirectionofRotation
Thedirectionofrotationcanbechangedwiththeforward/reverseselector(4).
Thisislocatedabovethevariablespeedswitch(7)(seeFig.4).Toselectthe
forwarddrillingposition,pushtheforward/reverseselector(4)hardleft.To
selectthereversedrillingposition,pushtheforward/reverseselector(4)hard
right.Thevariablespeedswitch(7)canbelockedoffbypushingthe
forward/reverseselector(4)intothemiddleofboththeforwardandreverse
positions.Donotchangethedirectionofrotationwhilethekeylesschuck(1)is
inmotion.
SpeedControl
Thedrillhasa2speedgearbox.Thespeedselector(3)islocatedonthetopof
thedrill(seeFig.5).Firstgearhasarangeof0‐350/min.Secondgearhasa
rangeof0‐1150/min.
TorqueSettings(Tighteningpowerofyourdrill)
Whenusingyourdrillforvariousdrivingapplications,itbecomesnecessaryto
increaseanddecreasethepowerandtorqueinordertopreventthepossibility
ofdamagingscrewheads,threads,workpieces,etc.Ingeneral,powerand
torqueshouldcorrespondtothedifficultyofthescrewtobedriven.Iftorqueistoohigh,thescrewscanbe
damagedorbroken.
ToAdjustTorque
•Locatethearrowonthefrontofthedrillhousing(seeFig.6).
•Identifythetorquesettingsand1drillsettingonthetorqueadjustment
collar(2).
•Rotatethetorqueadjustmentcollar(2)tothedesiredsetting,aligning
therequirednumberonthetorqueadjustmentcollar(2)withthe
arrowonthedrillhousing.
•Toincreaseordecreasetorque,rotatethetorqueadjustmentcollar(2).
Thelowerthenumber,thelowerthetorquesetting.Thehigherthenumber,thehigherthetorquesetting.Always
checkthatthecorrecttorqueisselectedbypracticingonscrapmaterialpriortocarryingoutajob.Thetorque
settingrequiredtodrivescrewswilldifferwithdifferentmaterials.Startwiththetorquesettingonthenumber
youthinkisappropriate(Eg:4)andsimplyincreasethetorqueadjustmentcollartoahighernumberifthescrew
headisnotsittingflushwithyourworkpiece.Removethescrewafteradjustingandre‐drivethescrewbackinto
theworkpieceuntilthecorrecttorqueadjustmentleavesthescrewheadflushwithyourworkpiece.
KeylessChuck
Akeylesschuck(1)isincludedonyourdrilltoallowforeasyinstallationandremoval
ofbits/accessories.Toopenandclosethekeylesschuck(1),rotatethechuckbody
withyourotherhand(seeFig.7).Thearrowsonthechuckindicateinwhichdirection
torotatethechuckbodyinordertoGRIP(tighten)orRELEASE(unlock)thedrillbit.
Warning!Donotholdthechuckbodywithonehandandusepowerofthedrillto
tightenorloosenthechuckjaws.Thechuckbodycouldslipandyourhandcould
comeincontactwitharotatingaccessory.Thiscouldcauseanaccidentresultingin
personalinjury.

InstallingDrillorDriverBits
•Removethebattery(5)fromthedrill.
•Openorclosethekeylesschuck(1)toapointwheretheopeningisslightly
largerthanthedrillordriverbityouintendtouse.
•Insertthedrillordriverbitintothekeylesschuck(1),ensuringtheendof
thedrillordriverbitdoesnottouchthescrewinsidethekeylesschuck(1).
•Tightenthekeylesschuck(1)ontodrillordriverbitasabove(SeeFig.8).
RemovingDrill/DriverBits
•Removethebattery(5)fromthedrill.
•Loosenthekeylesschuck(1)asdescribedpreviously.
•Removethedrillordriverbitfromthekeylesschuck(1).
Note:Donothandledrillbitswithoutglovesasdrillbitsandotheraccessoriesaresharporcanbehotafteruse,
thiscancausepersonalinjury.
GeneralHintsforDrillinginallMaterials
•Alwaysusesharpdrillbits.
•Marktheplacewhereyouwouldliketheholetobedrilled.
•Commencewithaslowspeedtostartthehole(seesection"SpeedControl"fordirectionsonhowtodo
this).
•Reduceyourpressureonthedrillwhenthedrillbitisabouttobreakthroughthematerial.
MetalDrilling
•Supportthinmaterialwithapieceofscrapwood.
•Useacenterpunchtomarkthepositionofthehole.
•Ifdrillingalargehole,useasmallsizedrillbitfirsttoestablishapilotholethenusetherequiredlargesize
drillbit.
•UseonlyHSS(highspeedsteel)drillbitsorthoserecommendedformetaluse.
•Whendrillingintoironorsteel,useacoolinglubricantsuchasthinoil.Withaluminum,useturpentineor
paraffin.Withbrass,copperandcastiron,usenolubricantbutwithdrawthedrillregularlytoassist
cooling.
WoodDrilling
•Marktheplacewhereyouwanttodrillwithapunchoranail.
•Toavoidsplinteringonbreakthrough,eitherclampapieceofscrapwoodtothebackofyourworkpieceor
continuetheholefromthebackofthewoodwhenthedrillbitfirstbreaksthrough.
LEDLight
•Thedrillhas1LEDLight(8)builtintotheunit.TheLEDlightislocatedabovethevariablespeedswitch.
•TheLEDlight(8)turnsonautomaticallywhenyoudepressthevariablespeedswitch(7).
•TheLEDlightilluminatesdarkareasintightcornerstoassistwithdrillingandscrewdriving.Thishelps
achieveamoreaccurateresultinyourworkpiece.

•Whennotinuse,thedrillshouldbestoredinadry,frostfreelocation,outofreachofchildren.
•Keepventilationslotsofthedrillcleanatalltimesandpreventanyforeignmatterfromentering.
•Ifthehousingofthedrillrequirescleaning,donotusesolventsbutamoistsoftclothonly.
•Blowouttheventilationslotswithcompressedairperiodically.
