Safety instruction
IMPORTANT SAFETYINSTRUCTIONS
When using your telephone equipment, basic safety precautions should
always be followed to reduce the risk of fire, electrical shock and injury to
persons,includingthefollowing:
1. Read and understand all instructions
2. Follow all warnings and instructions marked on the product.
3. Unplug this product from the wall outlet before cleaning. Do not use liquid
cleaners or aerosol cleaners. Use a mild soap and damp cloth forcleaning.
4. Do not use this product near water, for example, near a bathtub, wash bowl,
kitchen sink, or laundry tub, in a wet basement or near a swimming pool.
5. Do not place this product on an unstable cart, stand, or table. The product
may fall, causing serious damage to the product.
6. Slots or opening in the cabinet and the back or bottom are provided for
ventilation to protect it from overheating, These openings must not be
blocked or covered. The openings should never be blocked by placing the
productonthe bed, sofa, or other similar surface. This product should not be
placed near or over a radiator or heat register. This product should not be
placed in a built-in installation unless proper ventilation is provided.
7. This product should be operated only with the correct electric voltage
indicated on the marking label. If you are not sure of the voltage in your
home, consult your dealer or local power company.
8. Do not allow anything to rest on the power cord. Do not place product where
the cord will be abused by persons walking on it.
9. Do not overload wall outlets and extension cord as this can result in the risk
of fire or electric shock.
10. Never push objects of any kind into this product through cabinet slots as they
may touch dangerous voltage points or short out parts that could result in a
risk of fire or electrical shock. Never spill liquid of any kind on the product.
11. To reduce the risk of electric shock, do not disassemble this product take it
to a qualified serviceman when some service or repair work is required.
Opening or removing covers may expose you to dangerous voltages or other
risks. Incorrect disassembly can cause electric shock when the appliance is
subsequently used.
12. Unplug this product from the wall outlet and refer to qualified service
personnel under the following conditions:
a. When the power supply cord or plug is damaged or frayed
b. If liquid has been spilled into the product
c. If the product has been exposed to rain or water
d. If the product does not operate normally by following the operating
instruction. Adjust only those controls that are covered by operation

4. Exercise care in handing battery in order not to short the battery with
conducting materials, such as rings, bracelets and keys. The battery or
conductor may overheat and cause bums.
5. Do not attempt to recharge the battery provided with or identified for use
with this product. The battery may lead corrosive electrolyte. or explode.
6. Do not attempt to rejuvenate the battery provided with or identified for use
with this product by heating them. Sudden release of the battery
electrolyte may occur causing burns or irritation to eyes or skin.
7. When replacing batteries, all batteries should be replaced at the same time.
Mixing fresh and discharged battery could increase internal cell pressure
and rupture the discharged battery (Applies to products employing more
than one separately replaceable primary battery.)
8. When inserting battery into this product, the proper polarity or direction
must be observed. Reverse insertion can cause charging which may
result in leakage or explosion (Applies to product employing more
employing more than one separately replaceable primary battery.)
9. Remove the battery from this product if the product will not be used for a
long period of time (several months or more) since during this time the
batteries could leak.
10. Discard"dead" batteries as soon as possible since "dead" batteries are more
likely to leak in a product.
11. Do not store this product, or the battery provided with or identified for use
with this product, in high-temperature areas. Batteries that are stored in a
freezer or refrigerator for the purpose of extending cell life should be
protected from condensation during storage and defrosting. Batteries
should be stabilized at room temperature prior to use after cold storage.

1. BATTERY COMPARTMENT-Battery provides backup power to save
your messages in case of a power failure.

10. REPEATButton –
??Allows repeated replay of a message.

messages.
13. MEMO Button -Press andholdthe button to record memos and press for
one-touch playback memos.
14. DELETE Button -Press to delete ICMs, Memos and Two way records
during or after playback.
15. DISPLAY -Shows the number of ICMs and Memos recorded and the status

of your system.
16. MICROPHONE–Used to record your outgoing message (OGM) and
memos using this built-in microphone.
17. LED Indicator-Illuminates when unit is on and flashes when new ICM
messages are received, new Two-way or new Memo recorded.
?? INSTALLING THE UNIT
Installing the Battery
1. IF connected, unplug the unit from the telephone line and power adaptor.
2. Openthe battery compartment cover (located underneath the unit). Insert a
9V (1604) alkaline or carbon-zinc battery, (not supplied) observing the
polarity as indicated on the base of the compartment.
3. Replace the cover securely.
Important>>During power failure the 9V (1604) alkaline or carbon-zinc
battery maintains your Out Going Message (OGM), and any recorded
messages, and your Security Code. The unit will not operate until mains
power is restored.
Note>> If you do not install a 9V (1604) alkaline or carbon-zinc battery, any
disruption to the mains power supply will result in a loss of your OGM
announcement, any recorded messages, and your Security Code. The
OGM announcement and Security Code will revert to the factory default

settings.
Connecting the Power Adaptor
Only use an adapter with “Class 2 ”power source 9V 200mA Insert the plug of
the power adapter into the Jack at the back of the answering unit and connect the
adaptor to the mains power supply.
1. ANSWERON-OFF / STOP Button will turn to ON and lighted, if not,
please press the Button to turn ON and lighed.
2. The unit will have a sound and the Display(15)will flash “00”and
“--“ repeats this sequence until the clock and OGM has been set.
Note>> If the battery is installed incorrectly or exhausted, then "bL" is
added to the display.
If you do not want to be disturbed by incoming calls whilst you are setting up the
unit, it may be desirable at this stage to set the Clock Day / Time stamp and your
own Out Going Message (OGM) before following the connection procedure
Connecting to the Telephone Line
1.Plug one end of the TELEPHONE LINE CORD into the jack at the back of
the answering system marked TO TEL. LINE.
2.Plug the other end of the TELEPHONE LINE CORD into a modular
telephone wall jack. You may have to disconnectyourexistingtelephoneto
dothis.
Connecting your Telephone
Plug the line cord from your existing telephone into the jack at the back of your
answering system marked TO TEL.
MACHINE RESET
CAUTION:IF you press machine RESET, unplug the unit from thetelephone
line and power adaptor
If the system does not record messages or otherwise malfunctions, press the
machine RESET button on the bottom near the battery door of the base, pointed
instrument such as a pencil.
CAUTION: When you press machine RESET, the time /Security code setting
and any messages stored in memory are deleted even if a battery is installed.
?? ANSWERING SYSTEM SET UP
Bilingual English / French Setting
Slide the ENG / FRE switch on bottom of the units to select for day and time
stamp in English or French.
To record or change OGM for ANSWER-RECORDmode
It is important that you record your Outgoing Message (OGM) before
operating the answering system. Try to keep your announcement brief (under
30 seconds) as this maximizes the recording time available for incoming
messages.
1. Press and hold theOGM button, the Displays will show ‘Ar’andyou will
hear a long beep
2. Still hold the button and start recording your OGM announcement speaking
clearly towards the microphone (16) from approximately 6 -8 inches. to

recording your message. The maximum record time is 30 seconds at which
point you will hear a double beep and recording automatically stops and the
unit replays your announcement.
3. Releasethe OGMbutton to end the recording if your announcement is under
30 seconds. After the beep your OGM is automatically replayed.
NOTE : Default announcement as “Hello please leave your message after the
beep.” Will be used for OGM if you did not record yours OGM announcement
before.
To check your OGMannouncement
Press and release the OGM button, your announcement is replayed and the
Display shows ‘Ar’.
To record or change your OGM2 for ANSWER-ONLYmode
To record OGM2 when answering machine is set for answer-only mode while
memory full, incoming messages will not recorded
1. Press and hold theON /OFF button for about 3 seconds, unit the Display
shows "A2"andhear a long beep.
2.Then press and hold theOGM button, the Displays will change to show
‘Ar’, still hold the button and start recording your OGM2 announcement
speaking clearly towards the microphone (16) from approximately 6 -8
inches. to recording your message. The maximum record time is 30
seconds at which point you will hear a double beep and recording
automatically stops and the unit replays your announcement.
3.Releasethe OGMbutton to end the recording if your announcement is under
30 seconds. After the beep your OGM is automatically replayed.
To check your OGM2 announcement
Press and hold theON /OFF button for about 3 seconds, unit the Display
shows "A2"andhear a long beep, then press and release the OGM button, your
announcement is replayed and the Display shows ‘Ar’
Day / Time Stamp To set the day and time
1. You can press and hold the “SKlP” button at any time, a long “beep” sound
and the unit scrolls through the days of the week announcing e.g.“Sunday”
and the Display shown “7”, release the “SKlP”until the day of the week you
require is announced.
2. Pressthe “REPEAT” to shift to Hour settingand announcing e.g. “Twelve”
and the Display shown “12”
3. Press“SKlP” to set the hour until the hour you require is announced.
4. Press “REPEAT” to shift to Minute setting and announcing e.g. “o”.
5. Press“SKlP”to set theminutes until the minute you require is announced.
6. Press “REPEAT” to shift to AM/PM settingand announcing e.g. “AM” and
the Display shown “A”
7. Press“SKlP” tochangeto“PM”or“AM”.
8. Press “REPEAT” to confirm setting, and the current set time is announced.
Note: If you pause for 20 seconds during you are setting, you will hear a double
beep, and the unit will exit the setting procedure and abandons any changes.
You can check the time by press and release the “SKlP” button.
When turn the unitON,the Display will shown “00” after OGM and Day / Time

has been set.
RingSelect
You can select the number of rings in which a call will be answered.
1. Press and hold thePLAY button unithear a long “beep”.
2. Press“SKlP” to set Set the 3 Rings “r3” or 5 rings “ r5”.or Toll saver
“rt”
3. System be set and go to normal after a double “beep”
Toll Saver Facility
Your unit has a Toll Saver Facility. If you set to “rt” while Ring setting, this
means your unit will answer a call on the 5th ring if there are no new messages, or
onthe3nd rings if there is a new messages . Therefore when you are calling your
unit remotely you will know by the 3rd ring if there are no new messages.
??ANSWERING SYSTEM OPERATION
To turn unit ON or OFF
1. To turn the unitON, press and release theON /OFF button. The unit will
beep and the button will light up, your answering system will answer the call
after3or5rings.
2. To turn the unitOFF, press and release theON / OFF button,theDisplay
(15) goes out, your answering system will answer the call after 10rings.
note»>If there were outstanding messages when the unit was turned off, the
LED Indicator (17) flashes when the unit is turned on again and will Display the
totalmessages
Automatic Answering and Recording of Incoming Messages (ICMs)
1. Be sure that the answering system is turned ON. The display should read ‘00’
in ANSWER-RECORD mode.
2. When a call is received, your answering system will answer the call after 3or
5rings,
3. A beep tone will then sound to signal your caller to begin speaking.
4. After the tone, the system will begin recording and stop after the caller
finishes themessage. If the message length exceeds one minute, the
answering system will sound a long beep and then release the line.
5. Afterthecall,thedisplaywillindicatethetotalnumberofmessagesreceived.
And the LED indicator flashes.
6.If at any time you want to cancel automatic answering, press and release the
ON /OFF button, that the answering system is turned OFF,the unit will
beep and the Display and button goes out. Your answering system will
answerthecallafter 10rings.
To avoid unnecessary pauses due to hang-up and to save message capacity, your
unit will automatically stop recording after 7 seconds of silence
Playing Back Incoming Messages (ICM)
Press and release the PLAY / PAUSEbutton to play back your new messages,
or to play back all of yourmessages if you have not new messages. The
Display will indicate the number of each message as it is played. At the end of
each message, the time and day of the recording will be announced if the

correct Day/Time stamp has been set.
If necessary, you can adjust the volume level using the SPEAKER VOLUME
CONTROL.
To skip or repeat messages
To skip forward to the next message. Press and release the SKIP button
during message playback.
Press and release theREPEAT button to replay previous or current message
To Pause messages
Press thePLAY / PAUSE button during ICM playback, press again for resume
Recording MEMO Messages
TheMEMOfunctionallowstheuserattheansweringsystemlocationtoleave
a message for the next user. (For example, Mom is ready to go to work and
wants to leave a message for her son who is sleeping. She can leave a memo
on the system.).
1.Press and hold the MEMO button for about 2 seconds unit a long “beep”, and
the Display will read ‘Ar’.
2.Still hold the button to recording Memo message,
3.Stop recording by release the MEMO button. Stop automatically after 1
minute
NOTE:You cannot record a memo when the memory is full.
Play MEMO
PressandreleasetheMEMO buttontoplayallofthememomessageorifyou
wish to check your memo message (The unit can be recording more MEMO
message if notto Erase Messages)

Two Way Recording
You can record an ordinary telephone conversation if required.
Press and hold the TWO-WAY button for about 3 seconds unit a long “beep”
and Displays "Ar", then release the button.
1. The conversation is now being record and the Display continues to show
"Ar".
2. Pressthe TWO-WAY button again to end the recording,
NOTE» Avoid the memory becoming full, DO NOT forgot to end the
recording
Play Two Way Recording
Press and release the TWO-WAY button to play all of the TWO-WAY message.
To Stop During Message Playback
Press the STOP/ ON / OFF button during ICM; Memo or Two Way
playback.
To Erase Messages
As your messages are automatically saved after playback, you should
regularly erase some or all messages. This will avoid the memory becoming
full. You can erase all messages or just the message currently being replayed.
1.To erase individual messages
??During message playback, press and release the DELETE button to erase
thecurrent message being replayed.

??The unit beeps, erases that message and then continues to replay the next
recordedmessage.
2.To erase all ICM messages
After all of the new ICM message has been played, you will hear a double
“beep”, press and hold the DELETE button for (about 2 seconds) along
“beep”. All messages are now erased and the Display shows "00".
System Memory Full
The Displays "FL" when full.The unit can be recorded 17 minutes or 99
total number of ICM, Memo and Two-waymessages.
??REMOTE CONTROL OPERATION
RemoteAccessCode
Used to access your unit remotely. Before you can access your unit by remote
control, you must first enter a 3 digit Security Code into your unit. The unit
comes with a factory default Security Code of 268 which can be changed to
any 3 digits ranging from 000 to 999.
??To change or check the Security Code
1.Press and hold the REPEATbutton, after the “beep”, the displays shown
thecodeandannouncing e.g. “2, 6, 8”
2.Release the button and the display scrolls the current code set aftereach
digit.
3.Press" SKIP” or "REPEAT"button to increment or decrement the digit.
4.If digit is correct, press and hold theREPEATbutton to confirm. Repeat
process for next digit.
5.If no key is pressed within 8 seconds, setup procedure will be aborted.
You can also press and hold the REPEATbutton to check security code .
Basic information about Remote Control Operation
1. Call your telephone number.
2. After end of OGM is played, you will hear a one “beep”.
(If you forget to turn your unit ON, the unit will be answer after 10~15 rings)
3. Enter your 3 digit Security Code via the telephone keypad to go into
REMOTE CONTROL mode
4. Enter the key combination you desire from the list below
?? Enter“1 and# ” Playback only new message.
?? Enter“2and#” Playback all message.
?? Enter“3 and#”Erase selected message during playback
?? Enter“4 and#”Repeat previous message during playback
?? Enter“5 and#” Stop message during playback
?? Enter“6 and#”Skip a message during playback
?? Enter“7 and#”Room Monitor
?? Enter“8 and#”Play Memo
?? Enter“9and#”Record Memo
After message playback, the unit emits two beeps and a long beep.
Within 7 seconds, you can press 2# to replay messages or press 3# to erase all

messages.
5.Hang up the telephone after hear long“beep”.
