1. Attach the bow line to the tip of the underside
of the bowsprit
2. Attach the lines on either side of the bowsprit
to the eyes on the port and starboard sides of the
hull.
Place the hull of the Cape Horn in the stand.
Carefullyunrollthesailsetandremovethebowsprit.
At the front of the ship slide the bowsprit under
the brass brace and into the wood terminal. Forestay Top shroud

4. Twist open the mast rings so they may fit around
the mast pole.

3. Place the large end of the mast into the maststep.
At the top of the mast the forward side of the mast
has one eye hook, aft has two eyes.
Forestay line is attached at the top aft of the mast.
Fasten the other end to the eye at the tip of the
bowsprit. Top shroud lines are attached at both
sides of the mast top and pass through the spreader.
Fasten the ends of the lines to the aft shroud eyes
on the deck. Side shrouds - these thick lines are
attached to the mast just below the spreader.
Fasten S hooks at the ends of the lines to fore and
aft shroud eyes on the deck. Run the adjustment
device up each line until it is taut.

5. Connect Main Sail to Mast:
Pass the metal rod at the end of the mainsail's spar
through the two eyehooks on the aft side of the
mast directly below the spreader. Hoist the main
by attaching the S hook of the block to one of the
hooks at spreader's aft. Run the line down the mast
and attach to the eye on the starboard side of the
maststep. Tighten the line by running the
adjustment device up the line until taut.

6. Haul Up the Main Sail:
Connect the line from the mast's spar in the order
indicated above. Place S hooks 1 and 2 in the eyes
on the mast's aft side. Connect #3 S hook to the
other hook on the crossbar spreader. Pass the line
through the fairlead guide eye and down the mast.
Attach the S hook the end of the line to eye on
the eye on the port side of the mast just above the
boom eyehook.

7. Place the boom's hook in the eye on the aft side
of the mast as illustrated. Connect the Preventer:
The hook at the top of the block connects to the
eye on the underside of the boom. The S hook at
the end of the Preventer's line connects to the eye
on the aft side of the mast. Loop the mast rings
around the mast and twist closed.

8. Attach backstay shrouds: Thelinesareattached
port and starboard from the side shroud eye on the
mast to the side shroud eye on the aft end of the
deck. Trim the sheet: use the block and tackle at
the stern of the deck to hold down the end of the
boom. Attach the S hook on the block to the eye
on the underside of the boom.

9. Gaff Sail (Keeper): Pass the long wire hooks on
both spars of the gaff sail through the sets of twoe
eyes at the top of the mast and on the main sail
spar. Pass the Keeper's line through the fairlead eye
then down the mast. Attach the S hook to the eye
at the port side of the maststep.

10. Rigging the Clubfooted Sail:
1. Fore end of sail attaches to eye at mid bowsprit.
2.Shookonblockattopofsail connects to spanner
fore.
3. Run the sail line down the mast to eye at fore
of maststep.
4. Hook unattached end of clubfoot into bowsprit
terminal.
5. Attach S hook of the block from deck to eye on
clubfoot.

11. Second Jib Sail
1. Attach the S hook at the fore end of the sail to
the 2nd eye on the bowsprit.
2. Attach the top of the sail by hooking the S on
the block to the eye on the mast above the spreader.
3. Run sail line down mast, connect it to the eye
parallel with the boom. Run adjustment device up
the line until taut.
4. The middle corner connects to the line from
the deck (see next illustration).

12. First Jib Sail
1. Attach the top of the sail (with short line) to
the eye at the top of the mast (fore side).
2. Attach the opposite end of the sail to the fore
most eye on the bowsprit. Run adjustment device
up the line until taut.
3. Attach the S hook from the appropriate deck
line to the corner of the sail.
