2. Attach the bow line to the eyehook under the
tip of the bowsprit.
3. Attach the lines on either side of the bowsprit
to the eyes on the port and starboard sides of the
hull.
1. Place the hull of the Cape Horn in the stand.
Carefully unroll the sails and remove the bowsprit.
At the front of the ship slide the bowsprit under
the brass brace until it stops in the wood terminal.

4. Set the Mast: Place the base of the mast in the
brass maststep near mid-ship. The lowest eye on
the mast (the eye for the boom) faces aft (rear).
5. Locate the eyes at the top of the mast on port
andstarboardsides. Stationarylines(stays)descend
from the eyes. On the port (left) side attach the
shorter stay to the aft deck eye "E" after passing
through the guide loop on the end of the spreader.
The longer line is the backstay line. It connects to
the eye "H" on the port side of the deck.

6. On starboard (right) the shorter stay connects
to the starboard "E" eye after passing through the
guide loop on the end of the spreader. The longer
line is the forestay line and it connects to the eye
"A" at the tip of the bowsprit.

Shroud lines
7. The shroud lines are two sets of thick lines
attached to the mast below the spreader. The S-
hooks at the end of the shroud lines attach to eyes
"E" and "F" on the deck. Run the adjustment device
up the line until taut.

8. Twist open the mast rings. Place the rings around
the mast pole and twist closed.

9. Connect Main Sail to Mast: Pass the metal rod
at the end of the mainsail's spar through the two
eyehooks on the aft side of the mast below the
spreader. Hoist the main by attaching the S-hook
of the block to one of the hooks directly below
the spreader. Run the line down to the eye on the
starboard side of the maststep.

10. Haul up the Main Sail: Place S-hooks #1 and
#2 in the eyes on the mast's aft side. Connect #3
S-hook to the same eye used in step #9. Attach
the end of the line to eye on the port side of the
mast step.

11. Place the boom's hook in the eye on the aft
side of the mast as illustrated.
12. Use the block and tackle at the stern of the
deck to hold down the end of the boom. Attach
the S hook on the block to the eye on the underside
of the boom.

13. Gaff Sail (Keeper): Pass the long wire hooks
on both spars of the gaff sail through the sets of
two eyes at the top of the mast and on the main
sail spar. Pass the Keeper's line down the mast
and attach the S hook to the eye at the port side
of the maststep.

14. Rigging the Clubfooted Sail:
1. Fore end of sail attaches to eye at mid bowsprit
2.S-hookon block at top ofsail connects to spanner
fore.
3. Run the sail line down the mast to eye at fore of
maststep.
4. Hook unattached end of clubfoot into the eye
on the bowsprit’s wood terminal.
5. Attach S-hook from the block on the deck to
eye on underside of the clubfoot.

15. Second Jib Sail
1. Attach the S-hook at the fore end of the sail
to the eye at the tip of the bowsprit.
2. Attach the S-hook of the block to the eye on
the mast above the spreader.
3. Run sail line down the mast, connect it to the
eye on the port side of the maststep.
4. The mid sail line connects to the port side eye
"F."

16. First Jib Sail:
1. Attach the top of the sail (no line) to the eye
at the top of the mast (fore side).
2. Attach the opposite end of the sail to the eye
on the tip of the bowsprit. Run adjustment device
up the line until taut.
3. The line at the corner attaches to the port side
deck eye "H".
