Safety
General Safety Precautions
WARNING! Read all safety warnings and all instructions. Failure to follow the warnings and instructions
may result in electric shock, fire and/or serious injury.
•Save all warnings and instructions for future reference.
•The term "power tool" in the warnings refers to your mains-operated (corded) power tool or Battery-operated
power tool.
•Work area safety
−Keep work area clean and well lit. Cluttered or dark areas invite accidents.
−Do not operate power tools in explosive atmospheres, such as in the presence of flammable liquids,
gases or dust. Power tools create sparks which may ignite the dust or fumes.
−Keep children and bystanders away while operating a power tool. Distractions can cause you to lose
control.
•Electrical safety
−Power tool plugs must match the outlet. Never modify the plug in any way. Do not use any adapter plugs
with earthed (grounded) power tools. Unmodified plugs and matching outlets will reduce risk of electric
shock.
−Avoid body contact with earthed or grounded surfaces, such as pipes, radiators, ranges and
refrigerators. There is an increased risk of electric shock if your body is earthed or grounded.
−Do not expose power tools to rain or wet conditions. Water entering a power tool will increase the risk of
electric shock.
−Do not abuse the cord. Never use the cord for carrying, pulling or unplugging the power tool. Keep cord
away from heat, oil, sharp edges or moving parts. Damaged or entangled cords increase the risk of
electric shock.
−When operating a power tool outdoors, use an extension cord suitable for outdoor use. Use of a cord
suitable for outdoor use reduces the risk of electric shock.
−If operating a power tool in a damp location is unavoidable, use a residual current device (RCD)
protected supply. Use of an RCD reduces the risk of electric shock. NOTE: The term “residual current
device (RCD)” may be replaced by the term “ground fault circuit interrupter (GFCI)” or “earth leakage
circuit breaker (ELCB)”.
•Personal safety
−Stay alert, watch what you are doing and use common sense when operating a power tool. Do not use a
power tool while you are tired or under the influence of drugs, alcohol or medication. A moment of
inattention while operating power tools may result in serious personal injury.
−Use personal protective equipment. Always wear eye protection. Protective equipment such as dust
mask, non-skid safety shoes, hard hat, or hearing protection used for appropriate conditions will reduce
personal injuries.
−Prevent unintentional starting. Ensure the switch is in the off-position before connecting to power source
and/or battery pack, picking up or carrying the tool. Carrying power tools with your finger on the switch or
energising power tools that have the switch on invites accidents.
−Remove any adjusting key or wrench before turning the power tool on. A wrench or a key left attached to
a rotating part of the power tool may result in personal injury.
−Do not overreach. Keep proper footing and balance at all times. This enables better control of the power
tool in unexpected situations.

−Dress properly. Do not wear loose clothing or jewellery. Keep your hair, clothing and gloves away from
moving parts. Loose clothes, jewellery or long hair can be caught in moving parts.
−If devices are provided for the connection of dust extraction and collection facilities, ensure these are
connected and properly used. Use of dust collection can reduce dust-related hazards.
•Power tool use and care
−Do not force the power tool. Use the correct power tool for your application. The correct power tool will
do the job better and safer at the rate for which it was designed.
−Do not use the power tool if the switch does not turn it on and off. Any power tool that cannot be
controlled with the switch is dangerous and must be repaired.
−Disconnect the plug from the power source and/or the battery pack from the power tool before making
any adjustments, changing accessories, or storing power tools. Such preventive safety measures reduce
the risk of starting the power tool accidentally.
−Store idle power tools out of the reach of children and do not allow persons unfamiliar with the power tool
or these instructions to operate the power tool.
−Power tools are dangerous in the hands of untrained users.
−Maintain power tools. Check for misalignment or binding of moving parts, breakage of parts and any
other condition that may affect the power tool’s operation. If damaged, have the power tool repaired
before use. Many accidents are caused by poorly maintained power tools.
−Keep cutting tools sharp and clean. Properly maintained cutting tools with sharp cutting edges are less
likely to bind and are easier to control.
−Use the power tool, accessories and tool bits etc. in accordance with these instructions, taking into
account the working conditions and the work to be performed. Use of the power tool for operations
different from those intended could result in a hazardous situation.
•Battery tool use and care
−Recharge only with the charger specified by the manufacturer. A charger that is suitable for one type of
battery pack may create a risk of fire when used with another battery pack.
−Use power tools only with specifically designated battery packs. Use of any other battery packs may
create a risk of injury and fire.
−When battery pack is not in use, keep it away from other metal objects, like paper clips, coins, keys,
nails, screws or other small metal objects that can make a connection from one terminal to another.
Shorting the battery terminals together may cause burns or a fire.
−Under abusive conditions, liquid may be ejected from the battery; avoid contact. If contact accidentally
occurs, flush with water. If liquid contacts eyes, additionally seek medical help. Liquid ejected from the
battery may cause irritation or burns.
•Service
−Have your power tool serviced by a qualified repair person using only identical replacement parts. This
will ensure that the safety of the power tool is maintained.
•Storage
−Use transport guard during transport and storage.
−Clean and maintain before storage.
−Secure the unit during transport to prevent loss of fuel, damage or injury.

Trimming Precautions
Never stand directly under the limb you are trimming. Always position
yourself out of the path of falling debris.
Never stand on a ladder or other type of unstable support while using
the Pole saw.
Always use both hands to operate pole saw. Keep a firm, steady
pressure on the pole saw while cutting but do not try to force the saw
through the wood.
Do not use the pole saw to cut limbs larger in diameter than the length
of the guide bar.
Keep other persons away from cutting end of pole saw and at a safe
distance from work area.
Do not use pole saw near cable, electric power or telephone lines.
Maintain a minimum clearance of 10 feet from all power lines.

Set-Up
Charging the Battery
Before attempting to charge the battery
pack, thoroughly read all Safety Instructions.
The battery needs to be charged before first use
and whenever it fails to produce sufficient power
on jobs that were easily done before. The
battery may become warm while charging; this
is normal and does not indicate a problem.
NOTE: After several charge and discharge
cycles, the battery will attain full capacity.
WARNING! DO NOT CHARGE THE BATTERY
AT AMBIENT TEPERATURES BELOW 4ºC OR ABOVE 40ºC (BELOW 40ºF OR ABOVE 104ºF).
1. Plug charger cord into charger base.
IMPORTANT: Do not use any other charger, only use the charger that comes with the product.
2. Plug the charger into an electrical outlet. The charge LED will light up green.
IMPORTANT: Do not charge via an engine generator or DC power source.
3. Slide the charger into the battery pack. The charge LED will light up red indicating that the battery is
charging. NOTE: It may take 2 – 5 mins to turn red.
4. When the LED turns green again, it indicates that the battery is fully-charged. After the initial charge, under
normal usage, your battery pack should be fully charged in 4 hours.
5. Unplug charger. Remove the battery from the charger.
Important Charging Information
•After normal usage, your battery pack should be fully charged in about 4 hours. Allow the battery to cool
down before charging after using the saw. (NOTE: A hot battery placed in the charger will not charge).
•The battery normally provides 15 minutes continuous run time depending on size of branches being cut. This
equates to approx. 30 x 6cm cuts. Time may vary depending on hardness and diameter of timber.
•Battery may drain slowly if connected to the unit when in storage. Always disconnect between uses.
•When battery has expired, chainsaw will immediately cease operating and will require a full charge.
•If storing your chainsaw for a period of more than 30 days, fully charge your battery beforehand. Once
charged, remove from charger and do not reinsert into saw.
•DO NOT charge the battery pack in an air temperature below 4°C or above 40°C. This is important and will
prevent serious damage to the battery pack.
•While charging, the charger may hum and become warm to touch. This is a normal condition and does not
indicate a problem.
•To prolong battery life, avoid leaving the battery pack on charger for extended periods of time (over 30 days
without use). Although overcharging is not a safety concern, it can significantly reduce overall battery life.
•The battery pack will reach optimum performance after being cycled 5 times during normal usage. There is
no need to run the batteries down completely before recharging. Normal usage is the best method of
discharging and recharging the batteries.

Pole Chainsaw Assembly
IMPORTANT! The chainsaw may come with plastic spacers over or around the bar studs - the spacer is for
shipping purposes only and must be removed before mounting the chain bar. After removing the chain brake
cover, remove any spacers, then mount the chain bar as described. Failure to remove any spacers before
assembling and using the chainsaw will present an injury hazard, damage the unit and will void the warranty.
WARNING! Cutting edges on chain are sharp. Use protective gloves when handling chain.
1. Remove battery from chain saw.
2. Attach chain saw to the head of the pole plug in the under pole with a handle.
IMPORTANT: When inserted, #1 would have to be in line with #2, and must be inserted in the end (see
image below).
3. Lock the pole joints together.

4. Insert the strap into the buckle.
5. Add high-quality bar oil into the pole saw's bar oil tank.
IMPORTANT: After filling the bar oil tank up, close the cap tightly.
6. To insert the battery pack, insert it in the handle’s groove until the Battery Release Button (#16 in the image
below) bounces back to its normal position.
To remove the battery pack, push and hold the Battery Release Button (#16 in the image below) and pull it
out gently. NOTE: Fully charge the battery first before using it for the first time.)

Saw Chain Tension
WARNING!
•Remove battery from pole saw before servicing. Severe injury or death could occur from body contact with
moving chain.
•Cutting edges on chain are sharp. Use protective gloves when handling chain.
•When cleaning the saw body:
−Do not submerge saw in any liquids.
−Do not use products that contain ammonia, chlorine, or abrasives.
−Do not use chlorinated cleaning solvents, carbon tetrachloride, kerosene, or gasoline.
NOTE: The saw chain tension is properly set at the factory. A new chain will stretch. Check new chain tension
frequently (after disconnecting battery) during the first 2 hours of operation. Allow chain to cool down. Follow
steps below to check saw chain tension.
1. Remove battery from chain saw.
2. Place chain saw on a firm surface to check chain tension.
3. Pull chain with light force 1/8" away from bottom of guide bar and release (see image below). If chain lightly
snaps back into place, tension is correct. A slight sag (1/16" or less) between chain and bottom of guide bar
is acceptable.
Saw Chain Tension Adjustment
1. Loosen the guide bar screw before adjusting the chain (see image below).

2. Turn the adjusting screw on the front of the power head clockwise until slack has been removed from the
chain (see image below).
3. While wearing protective gloves, pull down on the chain to check the chain tension.
4. Do not overdo the chain’s tension. Over-tensioning will cause excessive wear and will reduce the life of the
guide bar and chain. Over-tensioning also reduces the amount of cuts per battery charge.
5. After adjusting for the correct chain tension, tighten the guide bar screw firmly (see image below).

Operation
Cutting with the Cordless Pole Chainsaw
It is important you read and understand
the instruction manual before first use
and keep the manual in a safe place for
future reference.
Always wear ear protection. Loud noises
for an extended period of time may
damage your hearing.
Safety precautions must be observed to
reduce the risk of personal injury when
operating this machine.
Total face and head protection must be
worn to reduce injury from falling
branches.
DANGER! Keep clear of power lines,
contact can cause death.
Wear no-slip heavy duty work gloves to
improve your grip on the saw handle.
Gloves also reduce the transmission of
machine vibration to your hands.
It is strongly recommended that a
comprehensive training course on
machine use, fuel handling safety and
engine operation be completed before
attempting to use this machine.
The dust produced during operation may
be dangerous to health. If the work area
is very dusty or smoky, wear a respirator.
Never allow children to access the
machine.
1. Fill up the pole saw's bar oil tank with high-quality bar oil.
2. Attach the battery to the saw.
3. Use both hands to grip the pole saw. Always use the designated grip
areas and strap when operating the pole saw (see image below). Use a
firm grip. Thumbs and fingers must wrap around the pole saw handle and
pole.
4. Make sure your footing is secure. Keep feet reasonably apart. Divide your
weight evenly on both feet.
5. When ready to make a cut, press the trigger lockout and squeeze the
trigger. This will turn the pole saw on. Releasing the trigger will turn the
pole saw off. Make sure that the saw is running before starting a cut.
6. When starting a cut, place the moving chain against the wood. Hold the
pole saw firmly in place to avoid possible bouncing or skating (sideways movement) of the saw.
7. Remove the pole saw from a cut with the saw still running at full speed. Stop the pole saw by releasing the
trigger. Make sure that the chain has stopped before setting the pole saw down.

Maintenance
Cleaning the Saw Body
Keep the saw body clean. Use a soft cloth dampened with a mixture of mild soap and water, then wipe saw body
clean.
Guide Bar Maintenance
Uneven bar wear causes most guide bar problems. Incorrect sharpening of chain cutter and depth gauge
settings often cause this. When bar wears unevenly, it widens the guide bar groove (see image below). This
causes chain clatter and rivet popping. Saw will not cut straight. Replace guide bar if this occurs.
Inspect the guide bar first before sharpening the chain. A worn or damaged guide bar is unsafe. A worn or
damaged guide bar will damage the chain. It will also make cutting harder.
1. Remove the guide bar from the chainsaw.
2. Periodically remove any sawdust from the guide bar groove. Use a putty knife or wire (see image below).
3. Clean oil slots each time after use.
4. Remove the burrs from the sides of the guide bar. Use a flat file to make the side edges square.
5. Replace the guide bar when:
−The bar is bent or cracked.
−The inside groove of the bar is badly worn down.

Sharpening the Saw Chain
Keep the chain sharp at all times. Your saw will cut faster and more safely. A dull chain will cause undue wear
on the sprocket, guide bar, chain, and motor. If you force the chain into the wood and cutting creates only
sawdust with a few large chips, the chain is dull.
Items Needed to Sharpen the Chain
Purchase these items from your local dealer, hardware store, or pole saw supplies outlet.
•5/32" round file
•Depth gauge tool
•File guide
•Vise
•Medium sized flat file
Sharpening Cutters
Use a file guide for 30° filing.
1. Adjust the chain for proper tension.
2. Clamp down the guide bar in a vise to hold the saw steady (NOTE: Do not clamp down the chain).
3. Press the 5/32" round file (attached to file guide) into the groove between the top plate and depth gauge on
the chain. The file guide should rest on both top plate and depth gauge (see image below).
NOTE: File should be at midpoint of guide bar.
NOTE: This illustration shows the file guide placement and filing direction for sharpening the cutters on the
left side of the chain.
4. Hold the file guide level. Make sure that the 30° mark on the file guide is parallel to the centre of the guide
bar (see image below). This will ensure that you file the cutters at a 30° angle.
5. File from the inside, then make your way towards the outside of the cutter until it is sharp. Only file in this
one direction (see image below).
NOTE: Two or three strokes with the file should sufficiently sharpen the cutter.

Filing Cutter Depth Gauges
The cutter depth gauge clearance is reduced as cutters are sharpened. After every second or third sharpening,
reset the cutter depth gauges.
1. Place the depth gauge tool (.025") firmly across the top of the two cutters. Make sure that the depth gauge
enters the slot in the depth gauge tool (see image below).
2. Use a medium flat file. File the depth gauge level with a depth gauge tool.
3. Remove the depth gauge tool. With a flat file, round off the front corner of the cutter depth gauge (see image
below).

After several hand filings, have an authorised service or sharpening centre machine-sharpen the chain. This will
ensure an even filing.

Replacing the Saw Chain
IMPORTANT: Do not clamp down the chainsaw in a vise to replace the saw chain or guide bar.
Replace the chain when the cutters are too worn out to sharpen or when the chain breaks. Only use a chain that
is approved by the manufacturer. Always include a new drive sprocket when replacing the chain. This will
maintain proper driving of the chain.
Refer to the image above while completing the following steps:
1. Loosen and remove the guide bar screw.
2. Remove the sprocket cover.
3. Remove the saw chain.
4. Place the new chain around the drive sprocket, which is along the top groove of the guide bar, and around
the guide bar nose. NOTE: Make sure that the cutting edges of the chain are facing in the right direction.
Position the chain so that the cutting edges on top of the guide bar face the guide bar nose (see image
below and the indicator on the side the cover of the saw).

5. Before placing the sprocket cover into the positioning groove, verify that the adjusting nib is in the adjusting
hole on the guide bar.
6. Place the sprocket cover into the positioning groove.
7. Lock the sprocket cover with a guide bar screw. IMPORTANT: Tighten with fingers only.
8. Adjust the chain tension.
9. Securely tighten the guide bar screw with a Hexagon wrench.
CAUTION!Do not place the chain on the saw backwards. If the chain is backwards, the saw will vibrate
badly and will not cut.
Storage
If the saw is being stored for more than 30 days, follow the steps below:
1. Remove the battery from the chain saw.
2. Charge the battery fully.
NOTE: It could take up to 7 hours to completely charge the battery.
3. When the battery is completely charged, remove it from the charger and put the protective cap on the battery
terminals.
IMPORTANT: To prolong the battery life, avoid leaving the battery in the charger for extended periods of
time (over 30 days without use).
4. Remove and clean the guide bar and chain. Clean the guide bar and chain by soaking them in a petroleum-
based solvent or a mild soap and water mixture.
5. Dry out the guide bar and chain.
6. Place the chain in a container filled with oil. This will prevent rust from forming on the chain.
7. Wipe a thin coating of oil over the surface of the guide bar.
8. Wipe off the outside of the saw body. Do this with a soft cloth dampened with a mixture of mild soap and
water.
9. Store the chain saw and battery:
−In a high or locked place, out of children’s reach.
−In a dry place.
−In a carrying case or with the scabbard over the guide bar.
Battery Disposal and Recycling
This product uses nickel-cadmium batteries. Local, state, or federal laws
may prohibit disposal of nickel-cadmium batteries in ordinary trash.
To help protect the environment and conserve natural resources, please
dispose of batteries properly. You may contact your local recycling centre
for information on where to drop off the batteries.
