other sewing machines. The 400 mm (15 inch) extended arm
and over 300 mm (12 inches) to the right of the needle provide a
huge space for spreading out and manoeuvring your project.

Central Screen
The touch screen is centrally located for ideal ergonomic s, so
that the needle area and the screen with all its settings, can be
viewed completely in one quick glance. The 5-inch TFT screen
gives high-resolution images and bright vivid colours from all
viewing angles. Large on-screen icons enable quick navigation,
and its gently touch-sensitive surface allows particularly user-
friendly operation.
BERNINA Dual Feed
Reliable feed of hard-to-handle materials! Working with knits,
velvet, ribbon or multiple layers? The BERNINA 820’s built-in Dual
Feed can be engaged when needed, to feed the fabric from both
above and below. The Dual Feed System offers optimum visibilit y
and superb manoeuvrability. Simply flip up and tuck away when
not required.
Fully Automatic Threading
Simple threading, automatically! The BERNINA 820 has its own
unique system for taking the thread through the machine and
the needle, in a single operation. Because it’s done quickly and
automatically, it leaves you more time to focus on the fun side of
sewing and embroidering.
Optimum Thread-Supply System
The exclusive multi-spool holder keeps large, medium and small
cones at the ready. The built-in vertical holders and telescopic
guides ensure beautifully smooth and even thread release. The
bobbin winder is located on the front of the 820 for easy access,
and it even lets you select speed and amount of fill.
The 5-inch touchscreen offers high-resolution images

available to you, to combine h owever you like.
Customised Buttonholes: As well as on -screen setting
of the buttonhol e length, the slit wid th can also be
changed – from 0.1 to 2 mm – to accommodate any t ype
of button you may be usin g. The buttonholes can then
be perfec tly repeated as often as you wish.
Memory op tions: You can customi se stitch patter ns
by changing stitch width/length or tension and store
these changes in ei ther of 2 personal programs, ready
to use againwhen needed. The stitch memory function
lets you combine an d record up to 50 stitch patterns,
letters and numb ers in up to 30 separate drawers.

The clearance bet ween presser foot and stitch plate
is adjustable up to 7 mm, l etting you easily reposition
thicker layers with th e presser foot in hover p osition.
Appliqué & Pa tchwork: A wealt h of stitch designs
including stippling and feathering, specially designed
for appliqué and patchwo rk project s, are available for
you to choose from.
Tapering: Team your creativity with new tec hniques.
With tapering, t he beginning and end of t he stitch
patterns tape r to a point. Choose from four d ifferent
