SAFETY, RESPONSIBILITY AND RELEASE
Using a motor/thruster on any watercraft or for diving or swimming can be dangerous and involves certain
risks which often cannot be predicted or avoided. Those risks include, but are not limited to, personal injury
or death, property damage, which may result from, loss of control, collisions with other users or watercraft,
swimmers, and natural and man-made objects and/or animals/plants. By choosing to use a Bixpy product,
you assume these risks and thereby need to know and practice water safety rules, responsible motoring, and
proper use and maintenance of your Bixpy product(s) to reduce these risks. Since it is impossible to
anticipate every situation or condition which can occur while under motor power in water, Bixpy can make no
representation or warranty about the use and safety of Bixpy products under all conditions.

in using Bixpy products and accessories. You, on behalf of yourself and your heirs, executors, administra-
tors, successors and assignees: (1) Fully assume the risks involved in using Bixpy products and agree to use
your best judgment in undertaking your activities to reduce such risks. (2) Agree to strictly and fully follow all
safety instructions in this document and/or provided on the Bixpy Website or related communications. (3)

harmless Bixpy, its members, employees, officers, managers, agents, resellers and representatives from any
claim or loss for personal injury, property damage and/or death resulting from the use of Bixpy products
and/or accessories.
You further: (1) acknowledge and agree that this waiver and assumption of risk is intended to be as broad
and inclusive as is permitted by applicable law and that if any portion thereof is held invalid, the balance shall
nonetheless continue in full force and effect; (2) acknowledge and agree this assumption of risk and waiver
provides for the release of legal rights; and (3) expressly waive whatever benefits may be available under
Section 1542 of the California Civil Code, as follows: A general release does not extend to claims which the
creditor does not know or suspect to exist in his or her favor at the time of executing the release, which if
known by him or her must have materially affected his or her settlement with the debtor.
Please note that your insurance policies may not provide coverage for incidents resulting from the use of
Bixpy products. Please contact your insurance company to determine your coverage prior to using Bixpy
products.

WARNINGS & PRECAUTIONS
Please read and keep these warnings and precautions handy for future reference. Failure to safely
operate and care for your Bixpy products can result in loss of warranty, property damage, serious
injury, or death.
NEVER use Bixpy Jets to go further than you can swim, paddle or pedal back on your own power.
Like any other electronic device, there is a chance that at any moment your device may seize to
function as expected. Always ensure that its seizure will not put you in danger.
In case of a malfunction whereby the thruster will not stop operating, remove thruster from water as
soon as possible and unplug from power source. Remember, in an emergency, it’s better to
abandon the thruster than risk your well being.
You must take the following precautions when using a Bixpy Jet:
• Never use under the influence of drugs or alcohol
• Not to be used by children under 8 years old
• Must be used by children only under adult supervision
• Be careful of getting long hair from getting into the propeller
• Do not wear loose clothing or objects when using Bixpy Jets
• Always wear an approved Personal Flotation Device
• Misuse can lead to serious injury or death
• Always rinse or run in clean fresh water after use
• Never expose bare connectors to water - connectors are only waterproof when mated
• Always use provided connector caps when connectors are not mated
• Operate and store above 0°C (32°F) and below 45°C (113°F)
• Do not use harsh chemicals to clean any Bixpy products
• NEVER spray the Jets with anything - including paints and/or water sealants of any sort
• When cleaning the propeller area, make sure the unit is not powered
•Wear your kill switch and leashes on your body at ALL times

MOUNTING YOUR BIXPY J-2 MOTOR
Your Bixpy J-2 motor has a four hole attachment point that is used to attached it to a variety of
adapters available at www.bixpy.com/adapters. The same attachment can be used to allow you to
mount the motor to your own (DIY) adapter. To secure your Bixpy motor to your adapter, open the
provided M4 screws and bolts, slide your adapter into the opening, making sure the outlet of the
motor is pointing to the rear of your adapter. Using a Phillips screw driver to secure the four screws
and bolts (DO NOT over tighten).
Use zip-ties and provided Bixpy Pipe Clips to secure the power cable to your adapter (not
necessary for all adapters) - see below.
Make sure there are no sharp kinks or bends in your wire on its way to your Bixpy Power Pack.
E
Use the provided M4 screws and bolts (1) to secure your
Bixpy motor to your Bixpy Adapter (2).
If you are making your own adapter for your application,
visit www.bixpy.info for instructions and to download a
template to make your own hole patterns on your adapter.
DO NOT over tighten your screws and bolts as it
may cause damage to the adapter or standard
attachment.
If you’re using your own hardware, be sure to use
high grade stainless steel fasteners to avoid
corrosion.

5
RUNNING YOUR CABLES
Make sure your cables makes a clean exit out of your motor and around your adapter. Don’t make
sharp bends, pull the cable or try to modify the cable in any way. Doing so may damage the signal
wire cores inside and prevent your device from running.
E
If you are using a fin or rudder adapter, simply run the cable
from your motor to your battery. Use zip-ties or cords to
secure your wire and prevent it from dangling or snagging.
If you are using a Bixpy Adapter with a vertical pipe, you can
use the provided Bixpy Wire Clips (1) and zip-ties to secure
the cable to your adapter pipe and run the cable as far up
the adapter pipe as you desire before running it to your
Bixpy Power Pack.
Additional Bixpy Wire Clips are available for purchase at
www.bixpy.com.

The Bixpy Jet is a direct drive system and as such operates quietly and efficiently using
rechargeable lithium batteries. The thruster housing and all Bixpy Power Packs are fully sealed and
require minimal maintenance. Keep them clean and rinse or run them in fresh water after each use.
The Jets and Power Packs are happiest when kept clean and stored in cool, dry conditions.
The front of your Bixpy Thruster acts as a water cooling system for the electronics inside the
housing and the plastic “face” acts as a bumper for your thruster in case of impact. Do not
block the intakes and do not operate without the bumper.
The Bixpy Propeller is designed with a “cutting” mechanism at its base to break weed and
grass. Even so, eelgrass and other long and fibrous plants can make their way into the intake
and wrap around the propeller. Do not run the thruster if grass or weed is clogging your
propeller housing. This can overheat the thruster and in the long run can ruin your thruster
and/or Power Packs. Use forceps to remove grass or other debris from your propeller housing.
In extreme cases, you can open the outlet using a 3 millimeter Allen wrench and clean out your
propeller housing. In the rare event that you break your propeller, DO NOT run your thruster
with a broken propeller.
Your Jet uses some of the most advanced alloys to ensure maintenance free use in salt water.
Even so, we recommend rinsing or running your equipment in fresh water after use in salt
water to extend its life.
Your Bixpy Jet is made to run in water. It uses water as a coolant and to moderate propeller
speed. Running it in air can damage your thruster and/or Power Packs. DO NOT RUN IN AIR.

TAKING CARE OF YOUR BIXPY THRUSTER

7
TROUBLESHOOTING
Every Bixpy thruster, Power Pack and accessory has been checked for defects multiple times and
operated individually for quality control and defect-free operation. However, if you experience a
problem or encounter a built-in safety feature that results in your thruster or Power Packs not
operating as expected, the table below offers some simple troubleshooting hints. If you experience
other issues, always feel free to reach out to us for support: www.bixpy.com/support.
Thruster connected
but does not
respond
Check that your connectors are mated well and dry. Water in
the connectors can cause the thruster to seize. If you are using
the Outboard version of the Power Pack, make sure your
remote control has a fresh battery and working. Try to run the
thruster using the “Emergency 4 Click”
Thruster seems to
be seized and
makes rough
sounds
If you have not mated your connectors well, water will short
your signal wires and the thruster will act in a convulsive
manner. At times it may seem as though the propeller has
seized, but once power is disconnected you should be able to
spin the propeller with your fingers. In case water ingress into
the connectors, remove the connector, use compressed air and
alcohol to rinse and dry the connectors, re-mate the connectors
and try to run the thruster again.
My thruster will not
stop running
This is likely due to water intake into the thruster or your Power
Packs or a blow to the Power Packs that has caused circuitry
damage to the Power Pack. Stop using your product and
contact Bixpy at: support@bixpy.com as soon as possible.
