Thank you for having purchased a BLUENOTE® product.
Introduction
With BLUENOTE® products you enter a new dimension. BLUENOTE® is the new way
of listening to music. BLUENOTE® is a range of products of prestigious and
sophisticated Italian design featuring unique and innovative technical and aesthetic
characteristics. The STEROID 1 Signature is a single ended Dual-Mono solid state
stereo integrated amplifier that uses a proprietary Bluenote electronic design called Mirror-Amp™. The Mirror-Amp™
enables the preamplifier section to work as asuper class A amplifier.
The Mirror-Amp™ is a the gain stage made with a proprietary cascode differential amplifier with a mirror current, producing a
super-linear signal, thus virtually eliminating distortion.
The power supply is handled by three different transformers custom made for Bluenote. Two transformers are dedicated to
the audio signal, the other one to all the functions that could adversary affect the sound of the amplifier, such as the
motorised volume control, the checking relays, the power ON led light and even the micro-chip used for some electro-
mechanicalfunctions.
The Steroid 1 Signature does not have active or passive filters on the audio signal path. Instead, Bluenote designed four
passive thermal switches switch off the amplifier power when it reaches an internal temperature of 80°Celsius
(180°Fahrenheit). This feature, while preventing, dangerous operating conditions also enables the amplifier to achieve best
sonicperformance.

The Steroid 1 Signature has a wide inductive and resistance acceptance so it can be matched with any kind of audio cables.
Its chassis is made of Steel to minimize RFI and EMI interferences. Selected components have thight tolerances. The use of
a Dual-Mono power supply allows the S -1 sound open, natural, significantly better than the already remarkable little
brother Steroid 1 .

Positioning of the S-1 Integrated Amplifier
The S -1 integrated amplifier has been designed for use in Hi-Fi systems in sheltered locations. It ought therefore to be protected from any
eventual variations in temperature and humidity. Avoid using in the vicinity of radiators or other strong heat sources, electrical and electronic
motors, switched on mobile phones etc.
The location in proximity of other audio components is not theoretically critical, but you should nevertheless pay attention to this. If it should
have to be moved after the installation, certain readjustments may need to be made. In any case, take care to switch OFF and detach the AC
power chord from the AC wall plug the S -1 \integrated amplifier every time you need to move it.
The high weight of the amplifier is not suitable to be positioned on any other components of the hi-fi system.
Operating Conditions
Once it has been correctly mounted and wired with its AC power Chord, and once the unit is been wired to a line input of the amplifier with a
proper interconnect cable, your STEROID Signature integrated amplifier is ready for use. TO PREVENT HIGH QUALITY SOUND

PERFORMANCES THE S -1 DOES NOT HAVE ANY OUTPUT PROTECTION. SHORT CIRCUIT OR WRONG SPEAKERS
(BELOW THAN 4 OHMS) MATCHING IRREMEDIABLY DAMAGE THE AMPLIFIER OUTPUT BOARDS AND THE OTHER UNITS
CONNECTED TO IT.
THE UNIT IS PROVIDED WITH FOUR THERMAL SWITCHES PUT ON BOTH CHANNELS HEAT SINKS AND POWER
TRANSFORMERS. BEFORE THE UNIT REACHES A DANGEROUS TEMPERATURES IT TURNS OFF AUTOMATICALLY UNTIL IT
WILL COLD DOWN TO A REGULAR OPERATING TEMPERATURE LEVEL.
IF THE UNIT TURNS OFF DURING PLAYING SWITCH IT OFF AND WAIT 30/60 MINUTES. SWITCH ON AGAIN ACHECK
EVERYTHING IS BACK NORMAL BEFORE CALLING ASSISTANCE FOR SERVICE.
NOTE: Never disassemble any part of the product for any reason whatsoever. The S -1 integrated amplifier could be
irreparably damaged and the guarantee would be invalidated.

DISC*is the Phono dedicated INPUT. The Board is installed but the functionability is optional. Once installed you can switch MM and MC
operating by moving the small DIP SWITCH with 4 Micro-Switches that is positioned internally closed to the external DISC input RCA
connectors.
The Micro-Switches 1 & 4 are able to vary the Gain of the unit: with the Micro-Switches towards the NUMBERS SIDE the De Medici operates
in MM mode; with Micro-Switches towards the ON SIDE the De Medici operates in MC mode.
The Micro-Switches 2 & 3 are able to vary the load impedance of the unit: with the Micro-Switches towards the NUMBERS SIDE the De
Medici operates with a fix 47Kohm (right for all MM cartridges); with Micro-Switches towards the ON SIDE the De Medici operates with a
470ohm (default) or changing the resistors (optional) with the unit with a specific load as requested by the user.
DO NOT OPEN THE UNIT WITHOUT A WRITTEN PERMISSION OF YOUR LOCAL DISTRIBUTOR MUST BE DELIVERED
DURING PURCHASING. IF THE WARRANTY CERTIFICATE IS NOT COMPLETE AND ALL STEPS ARE NOT FOLLOWED THE
WARRANTY WILL NOT COVER ANY EVETUAL DAMAGE OF THE UNIT FREE OF CHJARGE.

Volume Control
The volume control of this unit is made with an high quality potentiometer made by ALPS. It is very precise and its error track ability is very
low. Besides it is made with such materials that render its durability far superior with many other potentiometers on the market. The remote
volume control with its proper electronic board and power transformer (to avoid any kind of interferences on signal path) works directly on a
DC motors positioned on the back of the potentiometer to avoid the use of electronic controllers can reduce sound quality.
Be careful during the remote use: the remote moves the volume very slowly when the triggers UP or DOWN are maintained
pushed.

Warranty Certificate
The warranty certificate is enclosed separately and to be valid must be completed fill and returned to Bluenote factory or the official
distribution. In all countries where there is an official distribution network, the dealer must stamp the warranty certificate. In compliance with
the laws in force, the dealer may modify the official Bluenote warranty certificate wh olly or partially without notice and without further
mention being made in this instruction manual.
EVERY SINGLE BLUENOTE UNIT HAS A WARRANTY ADHESIVE LABEL APPLIED ON THE CHASSIS SHOWS THE BLUENOTE
LOGO. IF THE LABEL IS DAMAGED IN ANY PART THE WARRANTY WILL NOT COVER FREE OF CHARGE SERVICE AND/OR
RESTORING.

All BLUENOTE -BLUENOTE® products are the result of meticulous technological research, and consequently their correct functioning is
guaranteed. In spite of this it is possible that problems may emerge which non-specialist users cannot resolve. In this case, contact your dealer
who will advise you on how to resolve the problem.
Do not return any object directly to the factory or to the national distributor or without being authorized to do so. In such cases both
BLUENOTE -BLUENOTE® and the distribution agents operating within your territory decline responsibility of any kind.
