Switching on audio
system
Switch on the ignition.
If the audio system was on
when the ignition was switched
off, it automatically switches on
again.
If the audio system does not
switch on automatically: press
the ON button.
Audio system is in the most
recently used operating mode.
To switch on the audio system
with the ignition switched off:
press the ON button imme-
diately after switching off the
ignition.
If the on-board electron-
ics ascertain that the bat-
tery is too weak, the audio sys-
tem is shut down even though
the ignition is switched on. Un-
der these circumstances you
can switch the audio system on
again as soon as the battery has
been recharged or the engine is
running.
The audio system remains
ON for approximately 20, then
automatically switches itself
off. If you want to reactivate
the system after it switches off
automatically you must switch
on the ignition.

Indicator to show that the audio
system is switched off.
To switch on the audio system
with the ignition switched on:
press the ON button.

Repeatedly press the CD/* but-
ton to step through the se-
quence to the operating mode
you want.
You can switch from the
CD or AUX operating mode
directly to radio mode by press-
ing either the FM button or the
AM button. Pressing the CD/*
button is the only way of exiting
the INTERCOM mode.
The operating modes are
stepped through in the
following sequence:
Radio
CD player
AUX: External device, such as
an MP3 player
INTERCOM: Standby mode
fort an intercom system, no
radio mode selected
Volume
Adjusting volume
Press button 3.
If the display shows
SPEAKER when you
press the volume-control buttons,
the speakers are off.
Volume increases.
Press button 5.
Volume decreases.
Lowering volume to zero
(MUTE)
Press button 1.
The word MUTE appears
briefly on the display.
Volume is reduced by 20 dB.

Volume returns to normal.

Volume returns to normal.
Volume and speed
The audio system can automatic-
ally adapt the playback volume to
the speed. To achieve this, one
of four possible adaptation curves
must be selected.
Adapting volume to speed
Press and hold down the MAN
button until the reading on the
display changes.
Press buttons 2and 4to se-
lect a volume range.
SVOL OFF: Speed-depend-
ent volume increase switched
off
SVOL 1: Minimum speed-
dependent volume increase
SVOL 4: Maximum speed-
dependent volume increase
The current range is automatic-
ally accepted as your desired
setting if you wait a certain
length of time without push-
ing a button.

Repeatedly press the TON
button to step through the
sequence to the setting you
want.
The system steps through the
various settings in the following
sequence:
Speakers ON/OFF
Bass
Treble
Front/rear fade

Left/right balance
Sound curve (loudness) ON/
OFF
The tone menu closes and the
new settings are accepted if
you wait a certain period of
time without pressing a but-
ton or if you press a different
button on the operating panel.
Switching speakers on or
off
Press button 2or 4.
SPKR ON: Speakers on.
SPKR OFF: Speakers off.
Adjusting bass setting
Press buttons 2and 4to ad-
just the bass setting.
The display shows BASS and
the level you have selected.
Gain: 1 .. 6
Default setting: 0
Attenuation: 1 .. 6
Adjusting treble setting
Press buttons 2and 4to ad-
just the treble setting.
The display shows TREB and
the level you have selected.
Gain: 1 .. 6
Default setting: 0
Attenuation: 1 .. 6

Adjusting front/rear
volume fade setting
If the motorcycle is fitted with
rear speakers, press buttons 2
and 4to adjust the front/rear
volume fade setting.
The display shows FAD, the dir-
ection of the change, and the
level you have selected.
Move fader forward: 1 .. 10
Default setting: 0
Move fader to rear: 1 .. 10
Adjusting left/right
volume balance setting
If the motorcycle is fitted with
rear speakers, press buttons 2
and 4to adjust the left/right
volume balance setting.
The display shows BAL, the dir-
ection of the change, and the
level you have selected.
Shift balance toward left: 1 ..

Default setting: 0
Shift balance toward right: 1 ..

Switching sound curve
(loudness) on/off
Press buttons 2and 4to
switch the sound curve
(loudness) on or off.
LOUD ON: Sound curve (loud-
ness) switched on.
LOUD OFF: Sound curve
